Excellent Stay”

Just finished a 2 night stay at The Imperial Hotel, Vung Tau. The hotel in in an excellent location with access to a private beach front. Behind the hotel is the night market and seafood market where you can enjoy barbequed seafood at low prices. It is a 2 minute drive from the Lotte Mart shopping centre. The hotel has a few pools, one alongside the beach which is really beautiful. Restaurants are good and reasonably priced. Hotel is spectacularly decorated and rooms are large. Beds were very comfortable. Shower water flow was weak but that is the only negative remark about our whole stay. We really enjoyed our stay particularly the beach side pool. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning to stay in Vung Tau – this is one of the best hotels. We hope to return one day.

Best vung tau city hotel with some flaws”

new, very clean and opulent hotel with the best room furnishings reasonable room rates one can see that the people behind the hotel are detail-oriented in terms of furnishing the hotel and the amenities they offer hotel guests staff are eager to please and you can see their effort to try to do their best
staff has limited english language skills hotel should have placed umbrellas outside imperial plaza to lend to hotel guests breakfast buffet can use some variety shower area does not drain properly due to poor construction

This is a new hotel and probably the best in the city of Vung Tau. It lives up to its claims of being opulent as you can see the grandeur and old world feel once you step inside. The rooms are beautifully furnished with hi-tech safety door locks. The pool area is large so it doesn't feel crowded even if there are several people swimming. The bridge leading to the beach area is a plus especially for guests with kids. However, there are still things to improve on. The staff has limited english language skills so it is hard to communicate with them at times. Also, the breakfast buffet could use more variety (we also noticed a dead fly on the peanut butter and the coffee served was lukewarm -- when we asked for hot coffee, they immediately gave us such). Also, the hotel should provide umbrellas to guests. We were stuck in the imperial plaza (just beside the hotel) for about an hour due to heavy rains and the store could not lend umbrellas to hotel guests. The store is just a 2 minute walk to the hotel. There is no covered walkway connecting the two although the imperial plaza is possibly owned by the same company which owns the hotel.

Getaway Holiday from Ho Chi Minh City”

Imperial Hotel Vung Tau was easy access from HCMC via road or ferry (2 hrs). The Hotel & Residency is located in a nice part of town with private beach access across the road. Very clean and well laid out hotel. Great breakfast with a wide selection of eastern and western food. Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Beach area and pool across the street was clean and food and drink available on a private section of beach. The price of hotel was a bit steep as it was a midweek long holiday! Room size was large as it was a double room (suit) on the residency block with an attached living room and and kitchen. Highlight of our stay was the wide array of seafood available just next to the hotel. The food stalls where you buy the fresh seafood and they cook/BBQ it for you in just minutes. Plenty of cold beer available and prices are very reasonably. Overall, a nice getaway. A very children friendly hotel that can feel crowded during school holidays or long weekend!

Very nice hotel with a SUPER good service”

Loved the private beach and the pool in the Beach club, service was excellent. Everything you need is there. Clean rooms, super service. I will definately come here again.

vung tau is a super good location if you need a break from the hectic hcmc. easy and quick to get there. the imperial hotel has a super nice service and i just loved the beach club; everything from the pool and private beach to the delicious food, nice massage and excellent service. the staff at the hotel was very nice, polite and professional. i think a family with children would also feel very welcome here. why i came here for was to have a relaxing weekend getaway with my husband from the city. and that is what i got. i was very pleased with the whole weekend. could have not been more pleased with everything. i will definately recommend both vung tau as well as the imperial hotel.

Good location, good food but not yet a 5*”

Good location, good food and good massage

I have stayed 2 times in Imperial till now. It has a good location, and one of the only choice in Vung tau for the luxury hotel in 5* rank. Overall it's in good location, professional and well trained staffs and provide variety of services, which should be required for such a ranked hotel. However, some points need to be improved as the walls in some corridor were in rough and rusty condition, the room itself is quite old and the carpet quality seems not be clean. Massage packages and soa staffs were very good with the reasonable price. The sauna and steam need to have more care and the GyM staff were not so welcome. Overall, still a good choice to cast away from HCMC with only a weekend allowance.

I loved this hotel”

Beach, food, services

I stayed at this hotel for one night near the end of my trip to Vietnam, and I wish I could have stayed longer. First off, it's a 5 star hotel and I paid just over $100 for the night. While that is expensive for Vietnam, it is not expensive for a hotel of this caliber. It's a beautiful hotel, the beach area is great, and the prices for things such as room service, mini bar, spa services is really good. Again, expensive for Vietnam, but cheap if you're used to normal 5 star prices in places like the USA/Canada/UK etc... The rooms were big, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was huge. The private beach area is great, and the property is very nice. The shopping center next door is handy if you're looking to buy some groceries and save a bit of money on food and drinks. The only meal I ate there was breakfast. It was a buffet, and it was very good. My only complaint is that it's a little far from the town, and it is the only place in Vietnam where I was expected to tip, so keep that in mind (the entire city, not just the hotel). The other great thing, for me, is that after spending two weeks in Ha Noi and Saigon, Vung Tau was ghost town. VERY little traffic, and it's very quiet, so it was a nice change of pace. I would stay there again, but I hope that if I do return, I can stay longer.

"Unpolished Pearl"”

the best hotel i have ever stayed in vietnam, compare to hcm city. location : perfect! the beach club : unquestionable, especially all the aminities and facilities and how friendly the staffs are. good proficient of english for almost all staffs. the room itself is very very nice and the hotel is close to mall so easy to get things around.
the price quoted by agoda is more expensive than go direct to them? this is not a good finding for us.

this is our first stay at vung tau and we found that this hotel and area seemed like an "unpolished pearl". very nice inside the hotel but not around the city. at a small and ordinary restaurant, i have to pay 2 million dong over just to have lunch for 3 people and it is only crab, prawn and morning glory.... the price is almost similar if i eat at beach club the imperial hotel. makes in-convenience for foreign traveller who go there..

Great hotel and the beach is the best in Vung Tau”

I traveled here with my mom, sister, and my 4 year old, as well as my sisters 1 year old. We stayed in the King room with a twin bed. They brought us a baby cot, and there was still plenty of room for all of us. The rooms are clean, and the beds and pillows are soft. The breakfast buffet was very good, and had a good selection. My favorite part of the hotel was the beach area. It has a few pools, and the beach layout is beautiful and clean. After looking at several hotels in Vung Tau I am glad we spent a bit more to enjoy the beautiful beach area at the Imperial. Also if you are looking for a good and cheap place to eat, take a taxi to David's pizza. Also make sure you hike up the Jesus statue while in town.

A pleasant retreat from the chaos of the city”

Pool, spa and restaurant right on the beach

My husband and I enjoyed a short break at the Imperial Hotel. We found it to be a very peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. We booked a room overlooking the garden and pools and found it clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the outside seating at the restaurant for breakfast and lunch and also the Beach Club facilities with the pool, restaurant and small spa right on the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay away but if you are looking for pristine beach then Vung Tau is not for you. We mostly swam in and sat around the beach side pool and found it very relaxing to be able to be right on the sea front and have the option to walk along the beach even though we didn't swim in it much.

Pretty good place to stay with young children”

Very kids friendly, nice amenIties

We stayed for three nights there. I can say that we trully enjoyed our time here. This is not the first time me come to Vung Tau. Previously, we stayed at La Rang, which was very nice, too. Services se, the two are quite comparable. Pricewise, the Imperial Palace is much more expensive. The food at the lobby restaurant is very good. The food at the Atlantis Club, the amenities across the street, at the beach - not so much. Avoid the pool at Atlantis - it was with so much chemicals that s single drop in the eyes causes painful burning sensation. The music was trecherous. Their system somehow divides the channels into separate vocals. So all you hear, all day long, was just the percussions and from times to times the background vocals. It was a real torment. I washed many times to turn down this terrible noise, but to no result. THe staff is not very professional either. I had to ask repeatedly for towels and was told that someone will bring it right away... And then again, and again. Avoid the ocean. It is dirty. I pulled my kids out when next to me I noticed floating a big dead rat. These rats are to be found everywhere on the beach strip. Overall, I liked the pools in the hotel's backyard (that is right, there are more than one). I felt safe for my kids, constant watching from lifeguards, available drinks and food... The morning buffet is simply perfect with the variety of food and beverages. The lunch and dinner menus are very good, too.

Nice hotel as always”

This is the 2nd time I stayed at The Imperial hotel. I love their swimming pool! My kid loves it, too. In case you have kid(s), I recommend you spend time on weekdays. I tried their restaurants, the food is delicious so we don't need to move outside. I also spent 2 dinners in Bien Xanh restaurant (350 Tran Phu). It has fresh seafood with great skilled chief. That's only place I want to visit in Vung Tau except The Imperial.

Quiet and lovely stay at a luxurious hotel”

Private beach, beachside pool, breakfast buffet

We had an excellent stay at the Imperial Hotel. We were impressed with the service provided. The moment we arrived at the harbour, we approached staff behind an Imperial Hotel counter and they arranged a free taxi to the hotel for us. Upon arrival, we were directed to get a welcome drink while we waited for them to complete the check-in process. The front desk staff brought us up to the room to show us all the room amenities. The hotel is beautiful and the room was magnificent. I do agree with some other reviewers that the décor is a little outdated and some of it could use some updating. It wasn't tourist season, but it was very quiet there. We loved that the hotel had its own private beach. When we looked further down, we could see the crowds. It was nice to have the beach to ourselves. Especially since my significant other proposed to me here! =) The pool by the beach was great as well. We only stayed one night so we didn't get the chance to try the pool in the Garden area. We used the spa facilities which were great. They had a gym that also had a boxing ring! My fiancé was pretty excited about that, though he didn't get a chance to try it out. We ate at the seafood restaurant which had excellent stirfried clams. They were so delicious! We had dinner at the dining room, which was okay. The hamburger my fiancé had was rare, and we suspect may be the cause of some digestive problems he had later. So make sure you ask for your burger to be more cooked! In the morning, we had their breakfast buffet. There were so many choices and so much food to eat. I almost wished we could have stayed longer just for another breakfast! We had a great experience and this place will always be special to me because of the proposal. =)

great place to relax and hang on the beach”

Personal, Pool

we got a special offer on agoda and picked the hotel because its "beach club". the beachside pool is very nice and clean, you can even have a swim in the sea.you get fresh towels every day. although the deck chairs need a refresh and you have to be aware of sandflies (repelent!!) it was nice. there is also a pool behind the hotel, but they build residences there and the new building covers the sun after midday, so it was not pleasant to stay there. the breakfast buffet is tasty and has a big choice of fruits, vegetables, western and asia food. the restaurants were empty in the evening, probably because of the pricy food, but thats standard in a 5-star hotel. the food is ok, nothing overwhelming. we prefered the beergarden. the hotel itself is a bit kitchy, but sympathetic. it's quite worn out for beeing just 6 years old. the staff is always very friendly and helpful. room was big and clean, we got new bath towels every day even if we did not desired it. in a 5* i expected a fruit plate in room every day but at least we got 3 biscuits per day. vung tau is very quiet during the week. just a few chinese, vietnamese and russian tourists. you can walk up and down the sandy beach, the hotel is quiet and perfectly situated. if you take a taxi to town, tell the driver to take the fastest route and not drive you the long coastline ;-) a aircon minibus from jetstar picked us up at the hotel and drove us to the airport (2h, Dong 150'000 p.p.). great value. we would probably come back if there would be a special offer again, but not for the original price..

A gem in Vung Tao Vietnam”

I have been to Vung Tao a few times and this time I decided to splurge a little and book the Imperial. I really needed a good break and I got it. The hotel was very well cared for and the staff was perfect. They were attentive but not too pushy. I didn't have the breakfast and bought one with a gentle concern. The room was perfect as well. Very comfortable, well laid out and well furnished. It felt very homey. It was a relaxing and perfect place for a break. The pools were nice as was the beach front. Again the staff was always pleasant and friendly. There was some noise one morning as they were doing work in an adjoining room and I complained about it as it woke me up. They were generally concerned and brought me some fruit and work an apology letter and put it in my room, then checked again when I was going out if things were okay. I travel a lot and tend to be a medium traveler looking for something with a good price but also good quality. This experience was one of my better hotel experiences and I will definitely go there again. It ranks in my top ten and probably my top 5 hotel experiences.

Relax and fun”

Nice swimming pool, comfortable room, good food

We enjoyed our weekend at The Imperial Hotel Vung Tau very much. As a family with 5-month-old baby, we rarely have free time to go out. So when we decided to go on a trip, we have to choose a child-friendly place to stay. The room had everything we need for taking care of our baby. We love the large swimming pool, our baby also had a nice time playing in the pool. When we left the hotel, we forgot our baby pillow so the next day a hotel staff called and sent me the pillow. Love the service!

Best hotel in Vung Tau..”

This is the 3rd time I've stayed at the Imperial and is definitely the best hotel in the area. Two great pools and great private beach. We got upgraded to an apartment when we arrived which was perfect for us. The food, wasn't the best this time around I have to say I recommend eating at La Serena restaurant over the road at the beach where they serve great Asian/seafood and you can sit outside near the sea on an evening. Lot's of other places in Vung Tau to eat though if you venture out!

Most helpful service”

excellent service; great location opposite surf beach; swimming pool; wide range TV channels

This is a more up-market hotel than we usually use but it was well worth it. The staff were exceptionally helpful in making arrangements for us to meet various professional people in Vung Tau, arranging transport, etc. Rooms were well equipped and very clean. We have no complaints at all about the Imperial. We loved the over-the-top 'European' decor.

Gorgeous hotel with beautiful grounds”

Totally worth planning a stay in Vung Tau around this hotel. The service is impeccable. They pay attention to details from the moment you slide into a large comfy chair in the lounge during check-in to the moment that you leave (including help with scheduling a bus back to Saigon). The pools are all beautiful and have nice places for shade. The room is spacious and the views of the beach are the best. In fact, it was hard to leave the hotel to explore Vung Tau, although we managed to.
