Beautifully reburbished art Deco hotel ”
situated near connaught place and the dust, noise, bustle, hustle of delhi - the imperial is like a sanctuary. through the gates into another world, stepping back into time to the colonial era and art deco. artworks, old prints adorn all the walls, even in bathrooms, bedrooms. art deoo lamps, stands, clocks. the huge heated outdoor heated swimming pool with spa is great for lap swimming or just relaxing, also a well equiped gym - both at no extra charge. there are fresh flowers everywhere including the rooms. nice jasmine oil burners. staff are very friendly. it is an expensive hotel by indian rates or even australian rates but really lovely. great buffet breakfast western and indian, several fantastic restaurants. the ambience is wonderful. we came back to the imperial on our way back through delhi even though we had to pay higher rates since no agoda deals were available (india republic day 26/1) but we were upgraded to a lovely suite so that lessened the pain of the extra cost. very central location - we walked to connaught place, museum, janta mantra (ancient observatory), almost opposite government run cottage industries - fixed price store with great indian pashminas, jewellery, carvings etc, also next to tibetan markets.
Imperial Hotel is world class 5 stars and a welcom”
The Imperial arranged everything for our trip including round trip airport transfers, driving us in a Hotel SUV to Agra, arranging an exclusive tour of the Taj Mahal and Red Fort and returning us to the Imperial. They also arranged a thorough tour of Delhi. we were very pleased with both guides an dour entire experience. The breakfast omelets were the lightest and best we've ever had... that was in addition to the fresh chocolate croissants! This hotel has large rooms and friendly staff and the decor brings you back to old Imperial India. I read all the reviews and warnings about India and was plenty nervous about out trip... we selected the Imperial because it gave us a sense of traveling all of the time... other properties in this class looked more like concrete high-rises with none of the old world charm of the Imperial... that is probably the number one reason we chose the Imperial and you should too.
Perfect in every respect”
My favourite in Delhi, and one of my top hotels in India if not in Asia! This place is heritage, and feels like heritage - in fact it feels like staying in a museum, definitely a living museum. It has been exquisitely renovated without the heavy-handed modernisation that so many old luxury hotels seem to prefer - the Imperial does a beautiful job of balancing the past and the present. One can still have an authentic experience here. Authentic, yet with all the amenities and creature comforts one requires. I had great pleasure wandering around, examining the paintings, the design, the marble floors, the furniture, I slept most restfully and enjoyed all the meals I had there. Excellent breakfast buffet, authentic old bar, extraordinary Thai-inspired restaurant. The place is also utterly quiet, in the midst of noisy Delhi. The large swimming pool is wonderful. Another remarkable point: the staff makes you feel utterly at home, are attentive, friendly, efficient, and non-intrusive. No 'colonial' obsequiousness, no aloofness. They make sure you have everything you need without ever imposing anything or invading your space. You might engage in a lively conversation with one of them - I enjoyed discussing some complex Indian issues with a curious waiter. Also worth noting - the spa, the architecture and design of which are worthy of a visit, along with some excellent Ayurvedic treatments.
One of Delhi's Finest”
An oasis from the extreme heat of Delhi in the summer, The Imperial was a welcome retreat. The staff was exceptional, from the friendly and accommodating front desk attendants to the extremely helpful and knowledgeable Concierge. I highly recommend that guests enjoy one of the traditional Indian Ayurvedic treatments at the Imperial's Spa, which is an underground palace of marble and fountains; Indian art and poetry; pampering and relaxation! I would also insist that guests dine at the Imperial's on-site restaurant, The Spice Route. Nothing short of extraordinary, The Spice Route marks one of the best dining experiences I have ever had, the world over! I'm not going to spoil the surprise with any specific descriptions, but trust me, in addition to the delicious and authentic cuisine, an incredible "journey" awaits you inside! My only constructive criticism is that the swimming pool area is rather worn and in need of more aesthetic updates. It just wasn't in keeping with the rest of the opulent hotel ambience. I look forward to returning to the Imperial on my next visit to Delhi!
Luxurious and lovely hotel.”
The Imperial Hotel in Delhi is an absolute oasis - a fantastic place to stay on your visit to this marvellous but chaotic city. The rooms - we stayed in a Grand Heritage room - are gorgeous. Spacious, cool, fantastic beds and linen, marvellous bathrooms. The public rooms are amazing, beautiful marble, flowers, artwork. There are several restaurants serving different cuisines. We enjoyed having pizza at the Italian restaurant and steak "au povre vert" at The 1911 restaurant. Breakfast buffets were also lavish. The swimming pool surrounded by terraces in the garden was very welcome at the end of a day sightseeing. Honestly, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else now. My daugther- not a huge fan of the subcontinent - raves about it and would go back just for this hotel. The staff are great and most helpful. Wonderful Sikh doorman - immaculate and so helpful and polite. Good location too, surrounded by good shopping.
Gracious icon in the heart of delhi”
We always enjoy to enter the Imperial Hotel, as the first sign of quality is the soft jasmine fragrance that wafts towards you in the beautiful lobby. The service is professional and efficient, and the decor and elegance of the Imperial Hotel just makes you feel like you are staying in a palace. The food is nothing short of superb, and the restaurants' ambience leaves you sitting for ages just enjoying to be pampered. The rooms are fine and spotless, with the softest French bed linen and old-world furniture. What more to say? A stroll in the beautiful manicured gardens beneath the soaring palm trees, listening to Delhi birds singing their hearts out? A swim in the pool, and others say the Spa is like no other.
Spectacularly beautiful”
The Imperial Hotel is one of those unique experiences. The hotel is in true art deco style and has been beautifully restored. It is an absolute pleasure to wander throughout the hotel visiting many beautiful rooms and areas and just soaking up the history portrayed on its walls. Service is wonderful and the choice of bars and restaraunts is excellnt. The underground Spa is something to behold and the staff take absolute pleasure in showing off the hotel at every opportunity. The hotel is close to Connaught Place and is central to most sights in Delhi.
My favorite hotel in the world”
I have been traveling my entire life, through various jobs. I've been to well over 100 countries. The Imperial, where I've stayed half a dozen times, is my absolute favorite. All the restaurants are great, the pool is so welcoming in a hot Delhi spring, the wonderful flower arrangements, the staff everywhere, particularly in the restaurants, are so welcoming and courteous. I have stayed in many grander hotels; in fact, I came to Delhi from the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, but the Imperial is still the greatest, in my opinion.
There is no place like the Imperial Hotel. ”
The service at the Imperial hotel is impeccable. The staff is trained to provide exceptional service 24/7. The hotel is pure luxury, clean, smells good, there is attention to detail and comfort of the traveler. I have traveled extensively throughout India. Nothing compares to the quality, service, luxury and comfort of this hotel from the quality of the rooms to the food. The guest is royalty! I have stayed every year for the past 6 years on my trips to Delhi and will continue to do so.
Dear Guest, Many sincere thanks for your warm comments of appreciation for the staff, their services and attention to detail. I am very happy to hear that our services made such a positive impression and that you had a memorable experience. We take pride in taking care of our guests and are very pleased that your expectations have been consistently met. Thank you once again for continuing to stay with us over years. We deeply value your patronage & look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Kind regards, Vijay Wanchoo Sr. Exec. VP & GM
SIMPLY AMAZING”
The Imperial is beautiful, luxurious and simply amazing. Every detail is thought through here with the utmost care given to customer comfort. It's like the staff takes you in with a warm hug and treats you with genuine warmth and care. Hands down, the best hotel to stay at in Delhi. And the location is amazing, so close to many sights and lots of great shopping. Delhi traffic can be horrendous so you save a lot of time not stuck in a cab. This is now my third time staying here and hope to be back soon.
Wonderful Indulgent hotel”
I stayed at the Imperial for business and found it to be a lovely restful environment after long days in the Delhi traffic. The staff was outstanding, helping me resolve telephone issues, transportation needs and general information about Delhi. The physical environment of the hotel is beautiful with a strong sense of Anglo-Indian history reflected in the artwork, architecture and restaurant menus. While it is a more expensive hotel, it is well worth the investment.
For years top-standard, charming personnel, fabulous breakfast buffet!”
For the fifth time we've enjoyed the amazing hospitality of this facility! It has become rare that hotels are able to uphold the high standards - nevertheless the Imperial always feels just like home. We've enjoyed our two nights like the first time. The close proximity to the Connaught Place (only 10 mins away by foot) with the small restaurants between the white pillars of the recently renovated arcades is amazing. It was also very kind that we could stay in the hotel until 3pm on the last day of our stay since we had our flights at midnight. The hotel's own paid driver to the airport made the experience perfect. We can also recommend the restaurant within the hotel called "Spice Route". The thai curries are extremely tasty. After a long time the WiFi access is now also included. For years we consider this hotel the best in Delhi which it will remain - especially after our interesting discussion with the Assistant Sales Manager Divan Ghai. We are looking forward for our next stay.
Impeccable gracious style”
The Imperial Hotel is a Delhi Institution. It sums up the grace and beauty of Mother India, from the decoration and style of the Raj, to the attention to detail and politeness of the staff. The moment you enter the cool spacious lobby and are greeted by the fragrance of Jasmine oil, you feel you will be pampered and made to feel relaxed. I have been visiting the Imperial to eat for more than 30 years, and only sometimes do I stay there, but when I do, I feel nurtured and enveloped in comfort and hospitality.
A welcome haven from bustling Delhi”
From our arrival to departure we couldn't fault The Imperial on any level. The ambience of this Colonial style hotel with its opulent decor, microscopic attention to detail and extensive artwork made for a wonderful setting. Our Heritage room was impressively appoinyed, quiet as requested and spacious. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the Spice Route restaurant though the universal high cost of wine does detract somewhat from the overall dining experience. That aside I would happily recommend this hotel to any prospective visitor to Delhi.
Perfection in every way”
Having had a wonderful lunch at the Imperial on our arrival to Delhi and India, we decided to splurge and stay our final night here before leaving for Europe. The hotel is gorgeous, the food exceptional and the service marvellously attentive in an unobtrusive way. The art collection is a special bonus as is the fragrance of Jasmine throughout the hotel. The rooms are spotless and spacious, the linen of the highest quality and the bathroom a joy. Highly recommnded.
Service and Envoirnment both are excellent !”
This is my second stay in the Imperial Hotel! The impression is still very good ! Just like i mentioned that the breakfast maybe is the best one among all the 5 stars hotels in down. If i want to have some suggestion, will be the SPA area. They need to have more perfectional person to do the spa treatment and oil also?? I do not think i wll try the spa treatment again but still will choice Imperial to stay on my next Delhi trip.
One of The best hotels in delhi .Best location”
I used to live in delhi some years ago (25) and imperial hotel used to be my canteen at noon.At that time it was a sleepy, old fashioned hotel. Now retired i enjoyed spending some time in a completely renovated hotel but still with that charm .I enjoyed meeting the sisters of that convent in cochin selling like before their embroidered organdi tablecloths.A feeling of eternity in a modern five stars hotel.
Beautiful hotel with excellent service!”
When we come back to Delhi, than we would only stay in these absolute fabulous Hotel! The Hotel is near the City Center located. It's the best point to start your Delhi sightseeing tour. When you are interested in going around by taxi the whole day, than the friendly doorman's would arrange these for you and negotiate a good price for you too. We feel the whole time welcomed in the Hotel and every stuff member take care that you feel every time special. The breakfast is unbelievable good! Every morning we had to rest after the breakfast, because you ate and try everything. We tried also the Restaurant Daniel's and 1911 for Dinner. Both are really good, but for indian dishes I would recommended more the Daniel's.
Excellent Hotel with great facilities and service”
we spent two nights at the imperial at the end of our recent trip to northern india. check in was efficient and our room (imperial room) was excellent. the breakfast buffet selection was great and the hotel has several excellent restaurants and a good bar. the pool area was fine and the spa spectacular. all in all a great way to escape the chaos that is delhi.
