A charming country house inspired by English heritage, The Lakehouse features wooden ceiling beams and four-poster beds. Sitting on a hill in Cameron Highlands, the hotel offers guided jungle treks. The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands Resort is 1 km above sea level and overlooks Sultan Abu Bakar Lake. The nearest town, Ipoh, is a 90-minute drive away, while Kuala Lumpur is a 3-hour drive away. Rooms at The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands feature antique pieces, such as an antique table fan and a rotary dial telephone. Each room has tea/coffee making facilities and a vanity area with a full-length mirror. Room service is also available. Guests can settle into one of the cosy armchairs at the Reading Room and enjoy quiet moments by the fireplace. There is also a games room where guests can play board games. The Lakehouse Resort provides a safety deposit box at the front desk. Open for breakfast and dinner, the restaurant serves local and English specialities, with vegetarian choices. Cameron Bar offers a wide selection of liquor and a TV with sports channels. The Lakeview Terrace is a great spot for English tea in the afternoons.

Enjoyed my pampered stay.”
We spent a night in The Lakehouse Hotel and was truly pampered by the beautiful room, service and the great view. We were welcomed with a delicious welcome drink upon check in and the staff clearly explained everything to us. As our room was located on the other building, the front office staff actually walk there personally with us to our room. We drove up to Cameron Highland and parking is complimentary for guests and not only that, the staff also help clean our car too. Fresh fruits are served in the room with complimentary tea and Nespresso Coffee, during the turn down service, shortbread was even given to us free. I really enjoyed my stay there and hope that in the near future, I could stay there for a longer period and enjoy the hotel longer. Thank you once again for the memorial stay, which gave me the impressive impression on Cameron Highland.
The Bright Spot in Cameron Highlands”
we (wife & 2 young kids) has a lovely 2 night stay at the lakehouse this last weekend. the service was excellent and the staff we very flexible to our needs for an extra bed and extra kids breakfast at no extra charge. the location and this hotel were the brights spots in an otherwise disappointing visit to cameron highlands - the haphazard and uncontrolled development has destroyed this once lovely place. the lakehouse stands out with its old world charm, clean rooms, excellent service and with its location away from the crazy development in ringlet, tanah rata and brinchang. you will need to drive around (20 mins to brinchang/kea farm) for best alternative food and sigh seeing options. food & nightly rate are expensive here but again service and ambiance is good and makes up for this. we loved the hotel and friendly staff.
Comfortable room, Beautiful scenery, Lovely staff, Nice Food”
We are so satisfied with The Lakehouse Cameron Highland hospitality. We are so lucky to get a room upgrade to Foster Suit when checked in. The room is so nice, beautiful, clean & spacious. The surrounding environment is so nice, full flowers, beautiful scenery & a quiet place to stay.. what a wonderful stay in the Lakehouse Hotel. Thank you so much!! We had a big surprise with a small chocolate fountain cake for my birthday celebration the next morning when we went for breakfast, such lovely staff. They serve us with their professional, nice food, good restaurant & warm smiley face... Thank you so much to every one of you for the birthday wishes to make my birthday so meaningful. Thank you, much appreciate it. Love this place so much. Will definitely come back again.
Stay in Lakehouse Hotel”
I drove from Singapore to Cameron Highland and to my surprise The Lakehouse does not look like a bit of a hotel but of a mansion. Upon checking in, the staff are friendly and usher us to a cosy corner where there is a fireplace and I am really delighted to see it. No hassle check in process and once in the room, realize that the place is very well kept and clean. A very cosy peaceful place and the staff are friendly. A place good for retreat and I would recommend anyone who want to have a real good relaxation to stay in Lakehouse Hotel.
Best caneron hotel”
Staffs were very kind enough to prepare breakfasts for us even though we checked out at 5am for the sunrise tours. The reception counter opens at 7am. We didnt expect this but thats very kind of them. Meals over at lakehouse cameron highland were excellent. Ala carte and buffet choices were available. It will be better if the rooms are equip with wi-fi because the lobby wi-fi is not strong enough. The views were excellent. Christmas trees, ambience. There are even fire places with real burning fire to kept us warm, due to the facts that the temperature were lowand was raining when we checked in that day. Very very cool. Board games were available near the fire places too. Overall, this hotel, best of all. Thumbs up. Please do visit the hotel for a staycation or a getaway. You will not regret.
we decided on a 1 night two day trip to cameron staying at the lakehouse hotel on the advice of friends. having had a long drive the lakehouse is the first hotel of note that one would want to stop at after the main village. it overlooks a large lake brown in appearance due to heavy rains, lush forest and rolling hills. staff were incredible and the service was 5*! welcome drinks on arrival and an unforgettable afternoon tea before taking a walk in camerons exquisite countryside. we followed with a dinner that was as good as we had eaten although the price was fitting with the quality!!!! the hotel itself was cosy and warm with a beautiful old english aura. open fire places, a fully stocked bar and amazing rooms. 4 poster beds are standard with fully appointed bathrooms. a must for anyone travelling to cameron however not advisable if yourr on a budget!
Wonderful stay. We stayed 3N at Lakehouse over the Oct long weekend. The hotel is full of character and exudes wonderful English Tudor charm. We booked a family suite and the rooms were huge! The period furniture was absolutely charming and we love the 4 poster bed! Rooms and sheets were clean. Bed very comfortable. Although there were modern amenities like the air con, the weather at Cameron was such that we left the windows open to get the cool air in. Bugs were kept out with fly screens. The garden and outside bar area was lovely . The main asset of the hotel was its staff. Ever welcoming and helpful, polite and personal. At nights, the hotel is peaceful and quiet . The lake house is located at Ringlet, the town furthest away from the big town of Brinchang and its a 1/2 hour drive each time if you want to dine there. Tanah Rata is about 15-20min away but again traffic determines how fast you get to these towns. But the charm of Lakehouse is that it is away from these big towns . I would come back and stay there again!
3 nights in the Lakehouse”
The lakehouse is most likely one of the best hotels in the Cameron Highlands. Most other hotels (have tried a few in the past) are quite run down and in desperate need for a big renovation. Since we love the highlands (the tea plantations are a real marvel) we spend a lot of time in selecting our hotel this time. The Lakehouse was an excellent choice. However i recon that you must have a (rental) car like us since it is quite far from any town or sightseeing spot. We booked a suite which was very large and had old English style furniture (like the whole hotel); very cosy and comfortable. We will definetely come back here in case we decide to visit the highlands again!
Lakehouse Cameron Highlands”
This is the second time that we have stayed at the Lakehouse. We like the old fasion English style of the hotel which is build in the 60's. The staff is extremely attentive, they give you a real 5 star service. We also tried the restaurant which serves excellent food. The rooms are of a good size, old fashioned, but with good comfort. No aircon in the Cameron Highlands; fresh air and ventilators only.
Lovely hotel ”
Cameron Highlands itself is very refreshing. It's very nice for a person who likes nature and cool weather. The Lakehouse is located before Brinchang Town and overlooking the lake. I stayed at a Junior Suite which has one bed + one sofa bed which would be turned into a bed in the evening. The decoration is like old western house -- the food is great. They even offered u their laptop to use the wifi for free.
Nice Hotel for a Get Away!”
As a family we stayed at The Lakehouse Hotel in May 2014. We took one of the Family Suites, they are of a good size for a couple of children up to early teenagers. Definitely worth the extra expense for the extra room that you get. The hotel is in a good location at the "bottom end" of the Cameron Highlands. The hotel itself is quite nice. Positives: Good Selection of Continental and Hot Breakfast items Helpful Staff (Especially Yin and Lena) Lots of Trainee Staff who were being very well trained Baby Sitting can be arranged Wash your car at night Open Fireplace with an appropriately stocked bar and good bar staff Nice Terrace for relaxation Good Spa **There is a private BBQ that you can have on the Terrace at night if you pre-book it - Definitely Worth it!! Negatives: Only internet in the Public Area - and that it very weak in signal (mainly because phone internet because of location also was only at 2G - so slow) - be great to have it in all the rooms which is possible given modern technology Restaurant was only OK, felt that the food could have been better given location and price - other options were better when comparing apples with apples View for those that are interested - the Lakehouse view would have been beautiful when the hotel was built in 1930's, however due to construction works, the lake is now muddy and full of rubbish - please note however that this is not the fault of the hotel! So, the positives far outweigh the negatives. If we were to return, we would definitely stay at The Lakehouse again
Peaceful & Relaxing”
Our family of 5 stayed at The Lakehouse for one night (too short!!!) on October 28, 2014. We LOVE the place. The service was excellent! The welcome drinks were delicious and we were brought to our rooms which were super spacious, lovely and comfortable. The rooms were very well-maintained and clean and inviting. We immediately felt so rested just entering the room. There are complimentary bottled water, fruits, coffee, tea in the room. The hotel is small and quiet and private and we love all these qualities. Even right at the reception lobby, one can totally relax without feeling being stared at or intrusive. Having read reviews about noisy roads, I was a bit concerned as I'm a very light sleeper. However, the rooms are equipped with air-con and at night, once you close the windows and switch on the air-con, it is super quiet. My family in the next room slept with open windows and said they weren't disturbed at all by the traffic. We also had dinner at their restaurant, which was a bit more pricey than eating in town, but the service was excellent and the meal was good. We also bought some raw corns to bring home from the shops opposite the hotel - and they were really sweet. The breakfast spread was also quite good with its selection of bread and jams. The coconut and strawberry jam was very good. The honey was also delicious. We also had the porridge and ham. Eggs are on ala carte menu and not complimentary. Only downside is no wifi in room. We stayed in Junior Suite Room 5 and Family Suite Room 4 which faces the terrace. It was quiet with a really nice view and is located on the second floor. I felt the rooms on the lower floor in the main house is not as private as ours. Overall, we love it here and will definitely come back again!
Enchanting experience ”
Love the hot delicious Tom Yum steamboat buffet! My family & I had the steamboat buffet on our arrival night, at the beautiful balcony just outside the restaurant & I was simply blown away! The soup was well done & scrumptious, with serving of ingredients that we couldn't handle. (Tips: to get the even tastier soup base is to put half of the meats into the soup once it boils first, before other ingredients. The soup will taste way sweeter if you soak in the meats first). Have it on your arrival night as it will really soothe away your worn-out mind & body, amidst the fresh cool breeze at night. Wake up early to have a walk & enjoy the beautiful over-looking lake view in the morning, after your breakfast. You will fall in love with this place. At night, it will miraculously turn into quiet & romantic spot yet making you feel so at home. Since there is no TV or Wi-Fi in the rooms, I suggest to bring your own DVD player or iPad, so that you can enjoy some movie time while snuggling under covers if you wish. Otherwise you can just go down to its beautiful lounges to watch movies or surf internet (they have Wi-Fi at lounges only & they do provide laptops). You may meet new acquaintances at the lounges as some like to unwind at night time. It can be tricky as how to get to here (Cameron Highlands) as there are few options. My best take if you don't have to scrimp on the transport fee is to fly to Ipoh (by Firefly), then ask the hotel to arrange for airport pick-up. Don't worry, the airport-hotel transfer rate the hotel charges is fixed at very reasonable rate. And they only engage regular & experienced taxi driver.
A Gem in the Rough”
As you weave you way up the winding road into the cooler mountainous Malaysian rainforest of the Cameron Highlands, just past the little town of Ringlet, there suddenly appears a stunningly gorgeous Tudor-style hotel on a hill overlooking a small lake. The decor, rooms, services, meals and staff were superb. Unlike a few other hotels my wife and I stayed at in Peninsular Malaysia, we could find no fault with this highly romantic gem in the rough. I strongly recommend this be at least a one night stay for anyone wanting accommodation in the Cameron Highlands.
Beautiful Hotel but a bit far from town”
i'm very satisfied with our two nights stay in the lakehouse and the only weakness i can think of is really its location a bit far away from town. unless you are going to just stay in the hotel without going anywhere, all visitors are advised to have their own transportation so that they can go around easier. otherwise, this is probably the most beautiful hotel in cameron highlands and its services is one of the best. i like the hotel's personal touch on assisting the customers. i will definitely recommend this hotel to everybody especially couple & honeymooners.
Scottish hunting lodge charm + great staff”
Lakehouse is set up on a hill, overlooking a lake, has its own gardens and grounds which have been thoughtfully furnished to help you enjoy them, and there are dozens of half-day trips you can take into the hills roundabout. As a group of six travellers we enjoyed the side-trips, but also loved hanging out at Lakehouse, which was like an activity in itself - endless drawing rooms, sun rooms, terraces, fire-side sofas, all with a modern traditional decor style, made it a pleasure to spend time at the hotel itself. The staff also went out of their way to help us get the most out of the local area and the hotel - not least by organising Cameron's Highland's most considerate taxi driver to ship us around.
A marvelous, lovely n fantastic English concept.”
My family n I simply enjoyed our stay at The Lakehouse. No doubt I will return to stay. From the hotel decor, concept, cleanliness, staff, I would give a thumbs up 5 ratings. Especially the staff, from my check in till check out, all done in a breeze. Though some guests feedback commented the breakfast range is of little choice, I feel that's the way being an English concept hotel would be. For those who wish to have a hearty morning meal, may opt for the Lakeside big breakfast, anyway it comes with a little buffet variety with spread of healthy choice. Location is good though some classify it noisy since Iits just near the roadside. I would classify that as convenient. Thank you to each n every staff of The Lakehouse, job well done for maintaining the lovely hotel n of course those serving frontline. GREAT service indeed.
Relaxing a serene, a great break.”
We had a fantastic stay at the Lakehouse. We found it to be a good location as it is south of Tanah Rata meaning you avoide the crowds and the terrible traffic. The hotel was serene with great views across the lake and gave us a taste of oldy worldy Malaysia - not unlike oldy worldy britain! A little taste of home in some ways. The food was great and the room super comfortable. Sitting in the bar by an open fire after a long day trekking in the jungle was bliss. There's not many places on the equator where you want to do that! The staff were attentive, polite and friendly and the food was great. All round a top stay and would highly recommend the Lakehouse over and above similar hotels in the area.
Old-fashioned elegance with great service”
you need to have a car to stay here, or else face walking along the main road for a mile or so, to reach tanah rata. the cameron highlands area wasn't what we had expected - very much a commercial area, with mile upon mile of tatty plastic greenhouses, and shanty towns to house the workers, and the new road, from ipoh, takes you through this messy area before reaching tanah rata or the lakehouse. the old road (from tapah) while narrower, is much more picturesque, and has much less heavy traffic.
Enjoyable stay at the lakehouse”
of the 'tudoresque' hotels in Cameron Highlands we definitely made the right choice with the lakehouse. It is clean and well run whilst still retaining the old world charm.
