We arrived to Phu Quoc planning to stay 1 night only, but after meeting Mr. Lam and his family, the island experience just kept getting better and we didn't leave until the very end of our vacation. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, clean and neat. We woke up rested and relaxed each morning, ate a delicious breakfast (fried eggs with vietnamese bread and fresh cucumbers, seasoned with Phu Quoc pepper) and took off to explore the island. Since the moment we arrived, Mr. Lam and his family took care of every detail, assuring we have all the amenities, equipment and information for an unforgettable vacation. We felt like part of the family throughout our stay! They took care of us and made our every single wish come true, from motorcycle rental, fishing tips, home BBQ party to airport transportation... We followed our host's recommendations and experienced the best that Phu Quoc has to offer! We usually don't want to visit the same place twice, but this time it's different: We definitely want to come back to Phu Quoc and stay at Mr Lam's homestay - hopefully soon! Wonderful Family - Pleasant Stay”
Lam Homestay is a no frills, comfortable location to stay for the budget traveler. We initially booked the "standard room", but upgraded promptly to the "deluxe" room as the standard was much smaller and had no A/C or hot water. Mr. Lam was very kind about upgrading us for a mere $3 a night. He also set us up with motorbikes for $9 a day which seemed a bit pricey, but Phu Quoc is pricier than you might initially expect. The home stay itself is very basic (do not expect a lot), but the rooms are very clean. Mr. Lam was not always available to assist us, but his daughter or wife were always around. Unfortunately, outside of Mr. Lam none of them speak much English so it was difficult to communicate. However, the family was always kind and willing to help. If you're looking to meet backpackers, I would recommend a different place. If you are looking for a quiet, yet convenient location then the Lam Homestay is a fine choice. Also keep in mind that Phu Quoc is not nearly as cheap as mainland Vietnam so Lam Homestay is really a great budget option. I wish the family all the best!

Most friendly and helpful guesthouse ever!”
Our stay at Lam's homestay was a perfect experience. It started at the arrival with the most friendly family-like welcome including fruit, tea and sweets. After that we found that Lam is the perfect person to talk to if you need help with any bookings of tours, need advice about where to go and what to do (including unbeatable prices for airport transfer). But this is actually not the best part of it. During our stay we needed a lot of assistance with booking flight tickets in a rush, calling a tailor in Hoi An etc. and he managed to help us out with all he could possibly do and went far out of his way to make things happen even when it seemed impossible. The efforts he had to make for us was never too much for him and he never got tired to be the most attentive and caring host. Plus the dinner I had there one night was absolutely amazing. The freshest homecooked seafood and meat in abundance, better than anything I had during my whole stay at the island. There is no better place to stay at and Lam and his family are fantastic in every respect.

The owner made my stay unforgettable awsome”
I arrived unexpected late but they were waiting for me and welcoming me very friendly. I could lend me the familys bike and drive to the beach. The owner is a awsome friendly man, even he is very busy with working he took a lot of time for me. He went with me to a vietnamese wedding of his friend, where we ate awsome food and drank a couple beers. He teached me how to ride a motorcycle and even let me drive his own one! He brought me to to his second work at a 5 star resort offered me a beer there and let me enjoy the beach. We had some very good conversations, and he made my time in phu quoc unforgettable. even if I could stay only for 3 days. The rooms are very big, clean and quiet with ac, tv, big bed shower and toilet. I can really recommand to go there if you plan to visit phu quoc.

The Lam Homestay is a terrific budget place to stay in Phu Quoc. Lam and his family made the whole experience extraordinary. Everyone was friendly, polite and happy to have me staying. The location is a little bit off the beaten track but motorbikes can be hired to travel into town and around the island at a very competitive price. Overall I would highly recommend this place!!

good value for money and a very friendly family”
Rooms are basic and clean, unfortunately ours only had a window towards the patio, so we had to leave it closed most of the time. The owner, LAm, and his family are very friendly and helpful. Lam speaks English, communication with the rest of the family is a bit more difficult but we always got our problems solved. since you need a motorbike (which can be rented from Lam for 150k a day, most rentals in town were around 200k) to get to the most beautiful beaches on the island (sao beach and mango beach f.e.), i dont think its worth to spend a lot of money on accomodation closer to the beach. the house is on the outskirts of town but with the motorbike, exploring the island and getting around is very easy. Definitely recommend this place!

Amazing Hosts!!!!”
We had a great stay at Lam Homestay. Unfortunately I had a motorbike accident while at Phu Quoc however I could not of asked for a better host to look after me. Not only will the owner take you to the local markets, help you buy seafood and cook it for you (at zero extra cost) he will also go out of his way to help you in every way possible. After my motorbike accident he took me to the hospital at 1am, paid all the hospital bills (as I had no money on me at the time). He then checked up on me numerous times throughout the day and even cleaned and dressed my wound. A great cheap place to stay with service you will not find anywhere else.

I'm so glad I stayed at the Lam homestay instead of a resort around the main tourist area, long beach. Lam showed me how to ride a moto (let's just say I was clueless) and I was a pro after a day. Oh!! Once you reserve your room, you can email Lam your flight details and he will pick you up from the airport for a much cheaper rate than the van I took, which dropped passengers off at every hotel along the way. Anyway this was my favorite place I stayed during my trip in all of Vietnam, I felt right at home. Perfect if looking for something more than a resort experience. I'll be back!

The Lams are great ppl”
Loved my stay, mr Lam is great, super friendly and accomodating. Its not close to the tourist part so you see the real doung dong, but rent a scooter from them and boot around the whole island, far better places than long beach, clean beautiful and empty beaches to the north. Plus the scooter trip north is so cool.

Vietnamese Hospitality At Its Finest”
As we walked in, we we're greeted by the owners and helped us with our bags. We didn't realize that they we're the owners until they introduced themselves. They are very simple people, down to earth and very nice. We got in around 9:30 am and was allowed to check in right away. They gave us welcome drinks which was really good! Lam (the owner) invited us for lunch together with his other guests. It was a very tasty, authentic Vietnamese lunch and we really enjoyed it! We even had a chance to taste Lam's homemade snake wine!! Yes, it has a huge snake in it!! which was very interesting!! The best thing about this place are the owners. We felt really welcome and at home. My daughter had a sprain that time and Lam even gave us some liniment. Really sweet. Overall, the hotel was clean, very comfortable. I can't complain. I would recommend this place!!

Warm atmosphere, ok budget accommodation ”
The Lam Homestay was a very pleasant place to stay. It's owned by a family, who are all very kind and helpful. Ram, the owner, will chat with you, and he made me feel like he was my long-lost uncle. Really solid guy. There's a communal table outside where you can chat with other guests. Rooms are basic, but there are ample TV channels. On one occasion there was no power for a few hours, and the wifi was out for the better part of a day, but you should be out experiencing the island anyway. Hot water always worked, but it took over a minute to get hot. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone going to Phu Quoc on a budget, who is willing to ride a motorbike there. On foot I wouldn't recommend it: too far from the beach.

They are very hospitality and nice Family! also they rented a motorbike at very good price! They helped with our luggage and we were taken to the airport while we had a good talk about Phù Quoc! friendly staff, amazing dinner, familiar env ”
The lam homestay is the place to be for travelers interested in something more than just beach. Even though its location might seem far at the beginning, its actually very convenient when visiting both extremes of the island, north and south. they have the cheapest motorcycle hired in all the island, and don't worry if you don't know how to drive a motorcycle, they will show you how. the special dinner they organize is amazing, one of the best meals I ate in Vietnam. The staff is really friend and you feel at home since you arrive.

Wonderful Family, lovely experience ”
Our stay here was excellent. Loved the atmosphere of the island vs. the mainland. The Lam homestay was excellent. It's a bit out of the way, and the rooms are quite basic (v. Clean), but Lam and his family make up the difference. He helped us book tours, boats, buses and helped us change VND to USD at midnight the night before we were crossing the border to Cambodia - a real lifesaver. A great experience with a lovely family! you won't regret staying here. :)

We spend three night at the Lam Homestay. Every day we were very happy to come back home and exchange with the family. They proposed many great activity during the day even some we did together. I remember a beautiful evening passed with the daughter to do some English homework for school. affordable rooms and a nice owner”
It' a bit far from the city center and the beach. But if you want to discover the island its a nice place to stay. The owner is very friendly and speaks good english. You can rent a motorbike there. Its far from every tourist infrastructure. You can enjoy a nice homestay with Lam and his family. If you want, you can eat a delicious dinner with his family for only 15$. It was a pleasure for us to stay there.

We stayed there only two nights, but we rented a motorbike from Mr Lam, that was really great. Mr. Lam, who build the whole place by himself is very nice and helpful and gave us info about the places to go and so on.
