Destination hotel”
The Langham Pasadena is a beautiful hotel n I understand it was recently renovated in 2020? The staff are all impeccably polite & friendly. It’s a pet friendly hotel as I saw many a poodle checking in with their pawrent. I had booked a Superior King n was allocated a room at check-in that was smaller than what I had seen in the photos online n the room felt very claustrophobic with one small windows n a darkened like room. I requested for a change n was told some superior rooms even had no windows! I asked for a brighter room n was reallocated one with double windows. I understand that not all rooms are created equal, even within the same class. However, if a hotel is not full booked out than may I suggest that such claustrophobic rooms or rooms with no windows are not allocated until there is a situation where there are really no choices left. In my case, an upgrade room was first suggested n when I instead pressed for the same grade room with more light, I was then allocated a same class superior room but with it, better lighting from two windows. This could have been so done in the first place n avoided a waste of time for all n a little angst on my part, having to make the request for a change. In essence, this is my first time booking & staying at this hotel & I was so much looking forward to it but the initial existing despite the lovely ambience & staff, was a rather “dim” one and I had to make the uncomfortable decision to request for a room change. Hence on this point, I think the Langham Pasadena could improve on their room allocation protocol in the future to avoid such inconvenience.

Old World quality that doesn’t happen anymore ”
I don’t know how we got the rate so affordable. They easily charge $500 plus per night but we got it for less than $200. The Langham is full of history, class, and repeatedly we experienced the highest standard of care. From the bell hops, restaurants, decorations for Christmas. It was DREAMY and BEAUTIFUL!!! All the touches they add are seen. It was highest quality hotel and service we’ve seen in Southern California! Going again and telling all our friends and family. With all their grand history, I should’ve known to expect this from them!

Phenomenal”
We returned to the Langham to celebrate our five year wedding anniversary. When we were once a freewheeling couple, this time we arrived with a 17 month old child. The hotel couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating. There are tons of activities for children, stunning grounds, and a great bar for us to enjoy as adults. Beautiful, peaceful, and populated by top notch staff, we can't wait to go back.

I was very impressed with the staff and grounds/facilities and property and location and shuttle service. The tea room manager was outstanding and he was very kind and helpful. We took a small tour of the grounds and this was also excellent so thank you to the staff. However, the restaurant (Terrace) was weak and my family waited over 1 hour to get our dinner. Kids were served first and were all done long before adult entrees finally arrived. It was my birthday so this was especially bad, and the food was very salty (soup and prime rib). I think the weakness was from the kitchen staff and food quality, not the servers. The manager apologized and gave a discount on the dinner price (which was hefty), so that helped but the restaurant seemed overwhelmed so better to go out to dinner in downtown rather than eat in. Now I know why Terrace restaurant has only 3 star on yelp... hate to say but want to help others here or at least motivate the hotel to improve their food services...

Very unpleasant stay”
Booked Langham Hunting during a a short family vacation in LA. Chose the hotel due to its historical landmark and perceived five star luxury status. The rate I was able to get from Agoda was pretty good for a 5 star iconic hotel. The reality was that this stay is probably one of my worst hotel experience. To my dismay, upon check in (that is after a long 5 hour drive), the receptionist informed me that my Agoda booking was cancelled by the travel agent and the hotel was pretty full. The best the hotel could do was to quote me a new rate and try to find me a room. I ended up having to pay a bit more, and was given a “cottage” accommodation which was essentially a detached unit from the main hotel complex. The get to my cottage room however will me to walk through the hotel bar, across the hotel bar through and the garden. Extremely inconvenient, and needless to say very unpleasant especially in the middle of the night (thank god it wasn’t raining in LA in August) and with children. The air con unit in the room was extremely loud, feels like a factory production line has been turned on every time the air con started pumping. The complimentary Netspresso machine in the room also wasn’t working. I guess the cottage unit the hotel put me into is probably converted from the old servant/chauffer’s quarter when the hotel was first built. Worse is just when I tried to call Agoda service agent, I was given the run around and put on a long queue. They had no idea what went wrong as well and wanted me to do a fair amount of liaising with the hotel reception myself. After all, this is a screw up between Agoda and Langham Hunting Hotel. Why did I have to waste my precision vacation time to the agent’s job. As for the hotel itself, it is definitely an iconic landmark built nearly 100 years ago. Very grand design. Beautiful grounds and relaxing atay”
I had a one night staycation here. The staff is great, property is beautiful room was nice and had a big comfy chair to read in. Complimentary in-room Espresso but no complimentary bottled water. Nice thoughtful toiletries and a beautiful white granite bathroom. My only complaints- the food is not good and it is overpriced. I had 4 meals and none were good. The poolside loungers are a bit in the ratty side and the pool had children in it mostly in the shallow end. It’s a real lap pool so not much room for standing in the shallow end.

The lobby is beautiful and the bar is gorgeous as well. Our room was small, shower was dated and not perfectly clean. Our heater was extremely loud and didnt work properly. Lastly, part of our dinner from room service was badly burnt.

We are visiting for a month and always choose langham as our mainstay for the Pasadena area. It’s conveniently located and even though the rooms are dated the entire property embodies the Pasadena historical cultural. The nearby neighborhood is quiet and very safe. There’s some large homes and mansions which is a sight to see for morning or evening walks. Walkable to lacy park and Huntington library. A slight further trek to shoppes on lake. Staff were friendly, the only bad part about our stay was a broken elevator so we had to take the stairs up which detracted from the experience. Was offered a room change but it was already towards the end of our stay. Hope we can get a complimentary upgrade on the next stay.
