Peaceful Oasis with a fantas”
i went to the legend on a monday looking for some quiet time and relaxation, and it definitely delivered. the crowds leave after the weekend when the floating market in amphawa shuts down, leaving both maeklong and amphawa quiet. this gave me the run of the place, and it is very easy to cross the river into maeklong to explore the town. room and bed was very comfortable, and the a/c is quite good if you use it. plugs are north american 3-pin, although i recall only a few spare ones. all basic amenities, such as tv, mini-fridge, kettle, hair dryer in good working order. my only comment/criticism is that the hot water heater in my room was not that great, but not a deal breaker. i could pick up the wi-fi all the way from my room to the dock. the staff is very pleasant, friendly, and accommodating. as a side note - it was only myself and 2 other families there over monday/tuesday, hence 3/4 staff. the front desk staff speak english fairly well, but it may take a bit of work to make yourself understood by the rest of the weekday staff. they are also very unobtrusive, but attentive. compared to what you will find in bangkok hotels, the food here is very good at very fair prices, more like home-cooking, they don't hold back on the heat if a dish is supposed to be spicy. the riverside restaurant is also a pretty romantic spot as the sun goes down (east facing, but dusk is still gorgeous). if you want to hang out by the river quietly till the wee hours of the morning, they are happy to leave the lights on for you, and just buy your beer from the bar before they do their last call. if you are looking for some quiet rustic r&r, this is the place for you. the next time i go, i would try to arrive on a sunday to catch the floating market and stay through monday for a bit of quiet time. note: i gave only a 3/5 for hotel features, but that was a plus for me. i wasn't looking for all the bells and whistles such as massages.

Charming Boutique Hotel”
This is a Charming resort with antique thai houses for rooms situated around a beautiful Colonial style house right on the Maeklong River. One can walk 200 meters to the ferry boat , which will take you to Amphawa town and the nearby railway market ( Tallat Rod Fai ). The next morning the hotel can arrange a river taxi to take you along the Maeklong and through a maze of canals to the morning water market in Damnoen Saduak.( 2 hrs. round trip ) This really Thailand with the Tha wood houses along the canals. Friendly and efficient manager and staff. The hotel / Resort is small but we liked that. For one or 2 day stay it should not be missed. Book the antique wood room as opposed to the " Garden View " room for more authenticity.

Exceptional”
The Legend is a lovely place to stay. Their are a selection of different room styles to choose from. We stayed in a simple double room with private bathroom and AC. Fresh and light. Our daughter and her husband stayed in a traditional 1 room timber bungalow on stilts very romantic. The main building has a beautifully decorated lobby containing antique furniture and other artifacts. Great outdoor dinning and general chilling out area right on the river, a cool jazz sound track adds to the ambience. Very relaxing. Food is good, not great. Staff are wonderful. The owner is very friendly and warm, she even drove us to a local bus stop and helped us with finding and booking the right bus as a courtesy. Good english. Her staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. The railway market is fantastic fun. Cons. 300m walk to a pier to catch a ferry across the river to get to the markets.

Nice small Hotel”
------- We booked the hotel based on a recommendation (near the railway market....), otherwise we would probably never have found it. We came from Bangkok by grab taxi. The first moment was: let's say sobering. Don't let that put you off! It is an over 100 year old, small hotel run by the third generation of the family. In the lobby you think that time has stopped. Old furniture, old pictures ... The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You can always ask for help. The terrace by the river is great in the evenings, there was live music, delicious food and ice cold beer. The Railway Market is on the other side of the river, but this is not a problem: the ferry can be reached in about 7 minutes by foot, the crossing costs 2 baht and after another 2 minutes yo

We enjoyed our stay at The Legend. It is an ideal base for visiting the floating markets in the area. The inn provides complimentary transportation to the evening market by boat.

Cozy hotel with service minded staff”
Room is in a traditional Thai style house. It gives you a nice touch of 'Thai' living with the modern comfort. The room is cozy and comfortable. There are no closet to put away your belongings. There's only a small area to hang your clothes. The hotel restaurant has good food and is located by the river making it a real nice ambience for dinner or morning breakfast. Breakfast is included with your room booking with a choice of western style breakfast (eggs, ham, toast, sausage) or traditional thai seafood rice soup breakfast which was really yummy - my recommendation! This is a nice quiet hotel. It doesn't have a swimming pool, fitness, clubs/bars. It is suited for a quiet vacation getaway.

Unexpectedly Impressive”
I chose this hotel because it is near Bangkok that is convenient for me to stay over just to use up my Agoda point. Without expectation, this hotel turned out to be one of the most impressive hotel I ever stayed in Amphawa. Environment is very nice except that it was during holiday so there was noises from the opposite side of the river. Staffs are by-heart at your service without asking. I got the room in Thai house which has three rooms but I was the only one who stay there so other than mosquitoes, I was lucky to have private Thai house. Cheap food, good taste. I will definitely go back there.

Most fantastic staff”
The hotel/guest house was really lovely. they have a nice restaurant with great food, and as I said, the most amazing staff ever - friendly, helpful, courteous! I stayed in a Garden View Deluxe room, which was lovely. Clean and really nicely decorated. The only downside is that the walls are quite thin, so if you have inconsiderate neighbours it could be a problem. Air con and fan worked really well, nice clean bathroom and shower (I missed having a bath, but that's just me. I would definitely go back there.

Lovely hotel for simply weekend chill out ”
I expect the standard service and the space of the hotel is different than this one. But the legend Maeklong is nice and cozy.

Exceptional”
A lovely spot in beautiful grounds right on the river and close to the famous railway market as well as one of the (less touristy) floating markets. The tucked-away location is a little hard to find. All the staff were absolutely delightful and did everything to make our stay memorable, despite the fact that very few of them spoke either English or French. The room was large and luxurious, though sound-proofing with the adjacent room was less than ideal. The restaurant (also right on the river) offered good, great-value food, even if the choice was a little limited.

Charming hotel with lovely service”
This is a lovely hotel, the room was built in the style of a traditional wooden Thai house. The hotel is on the bank of the river with the restaurant right on the shoreline. The main part of the hotel is an old colonial house with loads of character. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

lovely hotel, excelent hospitality”
the hotel was very beautiful with authentic thai house style, the room is very nice. the staff is very helpful and friendly, we were hang out near the river at night, the staff bring us mosquito repellen cream, the hospitally was great. The only negative thing is that, even the address stated in Amphawa but hotel location is very far from Amphawa, we need to take boat to Amphawa for almot half an hour ride (THB 900), should stated that its not in Amphawa to avoid confusion

Best hotel in Samutprakarn”
best place to hide and when you want to get away from bangkok. everyone in my family specially my dad who is a very good chef agrees that the food at the hotel is one of the best we ever had. it's truly authentic thai food. the accommodation is ok but might note be for those who looks for five-starred service. most of the time we had to do self-service with no complaints as it's more like a family-liked stay and environment.

Beautiful traditional Thai house ”
We booked the Thai house and it was lovely. After a long night flight from Germany and a good two hour drive from BKK airport, we were greeted warmly and had a lovely dinner next to the river. Our room was nicely decorated, clean and the shower worked well. However like in most places we stayed in Thailand not enough space to store things - no closet. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We loved the breakfast because there was always a little Thai speciality like sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves with coconut and beans. Delicious!!! We stayed for 3 nights and left one morning at 5.30 to drive to the floating market. Just as we left the hotel monks passed by collecting their alms. After returning from the market around 9.45 a.m. I tried for the first time - Thai breakfast - rice soup with seafood - fantastic. We considered the hotel a bit pricy, but it is worth it.
