A special and memorable few nights.
We spent a few romantic nights here before Christmas last year and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room wasn't large, but between two of us with cases there was plenty of space. The pub downstairs is a classic and comfortable bar, with great food, and a really awesome breakfast. A short and pleasant walk down the river to lots of the main tourist areas. We would stay here again. Great value. The feeling of staying in a pub is much more satisfying, than in a big modern hotel, meeting people and enjoying the atmosphere. It helped make our holiday special. Thanks.

Artsy decor and nice staff!
Location: About 5-10 mins away from Southwark Station. Located in a somewhat busy office district, there isn't much shopping nearby for the average tourists but it is generally near to several tourist attractions (bridges and The Shard, if you're keen on walking). *On-going demolition work nearby, but not disruptive of my stay* Room: Amazing decorations. We loved it! The room is spacious and the bed is comfy. However the TV reception isn't so good, antenna was probably affected by the strong winds. Had to unplug the antenna cable and just let it lay on the floor to get a decent video feed. Nonetheless, the room is really good, toilet is clean although a little smaller than expected. Overall: Location is okay. Staff is really friendly. The restaurant is really good too! Nice place to stay for a short trip.

Something different
If you are tired of the usual chain hotels then this is a good alternative. The room we had was a good size and nicely decorated. The rooms are above (and part of) a Fullers pub, serving good beer and food. The location allows you easy access to the centre of London.

Very good deal and helpful staff
The front desk staff at the Mad Hatter were extremely helpful. The location near Shakespeare's Globe and Blackfriar's Station is excellent although the surrounding construction could be disturbing early in the morning, and there are no 'views' The rooms and ensuite batgrooms sre spacious and attractive. A helpful adfition woukd be a small fridge. All in all a very good place to stay.

Spotless, well cared for, comfortable and 1 block from the Thames
This hotel is so cute. It is literally one block south of the Thames on Blackfriars and we walked to everything almost from that location. And you can get the Blackfriars Station train one block away over the Thames. The hotel is old, but well cared for and everything is absolutely spotless. The lobby is very small and a little shabby, but not the rooms. Our bed was very comfortable. The high tub was a bit of a struggle for me to get into (short and bad knees), so I don't know if there are accommodations for those who ask. You can get a hotel price for breakfast at the pub next door and run a tab on your hotel room. There is no air conditioning, but they provide fans. I think that works most of the time. But you'll need to open your windows and the street can be noisy all night. I always bring earplugs and I slept soundly. I would readily stay here again. Quite fun.

Great Location
Great location for exploring London. Right by the Thames, and transportation. No AC so it is was a little warm the when we were there, but the staff brought us an extra fan. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very clean, WiFi worked perfectly. No place to park so we had to get our Taxis down the street a little.

Very friendly.
Lovely and service minded staff. The hotel felt genuinely British. Ok breakfast buffet. Very close to Themsen. Easy to get to hotel from Heathrow with the underground lines.

Great location
This is a good hotel for anyone that wants to be close to South Bank and it's attractions. Clean rooms with a real English pub on the ground floor.

Convenient location, comfortable
Hotel is very conveniently located just a few mins walk from Southwark Underground, and about 10mins walk from Waterloo. The room was large, clean and comfortable. I didn't try the restaurant or bar, but it seemed busy enough. There is a lot of building going on around the hotel, and I think it was fortunate I stayed on a Saturday night otherwise I suspect the building noise would have been a problem in the morning. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great. Staff were very friendly and check in/out was seamless.
