Such a welcoming hotel”

We were in Taiwan for a workshop and had a few days to ourselves in Yangmingshan National Park so booked Mountain Star for 4 nights. Very glad we did. I read you can't check in until 6pm but we arrived at 3pm and were able to go to our room. This was lovely with a huge bath and separate cold bath. Each day you had a choice of bath salts. The restaurant was excellent. I am vegetarian and there was so much choice - I'm just not used to having to choose from so much. The fruit juices were amazing too if you didn't want a beer. Breakfast was usually buffet although when it was quiet a breakfast tray was brought to the table with many little dishes. Unfortunately we couldn't eat it all. Views are lovely over the city and up to the wooded mountains - hard to believe it is only 40 minutes from Taipei. Staff are so kind and helpful. When I lost my camera Jazz took a lot of trouble to try and locate it. Really enjoyed it here.

Perfect for chillax”

If you're looking for a place for chill and relax, you should be here! Although it's in the middle of the mountain like what other reviews commented, but it has public transport. Bus stop is just right in front of the hotel. Although hotel is abit old, but it's still well maintain. It's in the middle of Beitou and Yang Ming Shan, you can catch a bus from the hotel easily.

Amazing”

The location is on the mountain but it not hard to go. We take mrt to Beitou and catch the taxi form there cause we have a lot o luggage it cost approximately 200 nt. Also you can take bus. There is bus stop in front of the hotel and it very easy to catch. You can go down to town or go uo to Yanmingshan very easy.The bathtub is huge. We stay in twin bed and it very clean and nice. Breakfast is ok. Staff very nice and helpful. They can speak English. Really recommended

If you want to do a big one day hiking trip to Datunshan, this is the place to be. But note: Currently, the name of this hotel on google maps is wrong. On google maps, this is labeled "Shan Yue hot spring hotel" instead of "The Mountain Star". I would have almost booked the wrong hotel because of this error...

This 山玥新馆 is a luxurious hotel for lovers to do transit and have nude showers in pool together. That's why they allow you to check in after 6pm and check out by 11am. In between they have 7hours to make $$$. Take bus S26 from Xinbeitou bus stop (opposite McDonalds after 5min walk from MRT 新北投站。)alight at 凤尾站。the place is 46sqm for about sgd111 per night during our stay. As good as going private bath, good for lovers. From The Mountain Star there is S8 & S9 bus to 竹子湖 and 阳明山车站(bus stop 3min away from terminal) . From 阳明山车站you may take 108 to visit all places in a loop, including 花钟，小油坑，擎天岗。There is 7-11 near 阳明山车站。Back to hotel, room is spacious but during bath can hear people walking or talking outside due to wood partition, not solid wall. Is a great stay there for honeymoon couples. We stayed for 1N from 02-03 Dec 2018 Chris (SG) ^ ^

A quick getaway from the busy Taipei”

My first trip to Taiwan, so my friend booked this hotel without knowing that it is located quite far (not walking distance for sure) from the Beitou Hot Spring / Thermal Valley / Beitou MRT. However, as we took bus, the bus (S9/S8) stopped right in front of the villa. It was certainly much better than the review rating, so we were pleasantly surprised. The front desk receptionist was polite and greeted us with much enthusiasm. Although we doubted if the hot water is direct source from the hot spring (no sulphur smell etc), the night view overseeing Taipei city in a way compensated for it. I think the breakfast was pretty good; but it's not a typical continental style. We had Chinese style porridge (with a lot of side dishes), basic salad and toast with salted butter and jam. That being said, I think 1 night stay is good enough; the only thing we missed out was sightseeing in Beitou (we came from Jiufen so arrive late in Beitou --check in is at 6pm anyway).

Don't be fooled by their star rating, they are better than that. The property is located just right at the bus stop, which make reaching it an ease. The property is located at a quiet village, ideal for those looking for relaxation. The star of the show is certainly their in room private hot tub, nothing spell comfort like a dip in the tub and just cut out from the outside world. All in all, this will be my prime choice whenever I come back.

Beautiful quiet location ”

The hotel location up the hill on the way to Yangmingsan national park is a perfect for travelers who want to get away from Taipei traffic & city noise. The room &!wood floor are beautiful however the in room carpet by the bed is a little old. The view is amazing !! The buffet breakfast has both western & Chinese style however it seems not very tasty. To get there, you take the taxi or have a private car, or the local bus round S8 & S9 that you can catch across from the McDonald near MRT station Xinbeitou. The bus stops at very conveniently right in front of the hotel (the bus stop named Fungwei ( Fewei). However, be aware that these bus rounds are jammed with local passengers & travel on a very winding road seems so unsafe. If you pick up the bus at the front of the hotel, sometimes the bus is so loaded with passengers that you cannot get on. There is no restaurants or any business near by the hotel so plan carefully!! The hotel staff can’t speak English well but very helpful !

Great view with hot springs looking out over Taipei City ”

The hotel was in a remote and beautiful area of Yangmingshan. Just on the edge of the park, the view was amazing! It's located right near the thermal valley, and the view of Taipei City is superb. The room hot spring tubs were nice, and having a window that actually opens in Taiwan was a plus! The bed was comfortable and the breakfast okay. The staff was nice enough, although we couldn't eat our late night snacks on the restaurant patio, which was annoying, since we paid quite a bit to stay the night there! Overall, I'd recommend this property.

We would definitely come back! Very helpful staff even though only a few could speak English but they show effort!View is speechless day and night is wow! Food is amazing! We dined in and price was indeed reasonable..love all the food! Breast was simpl .and good to.kick start the day. Transportation, bus shuttle just a walk out very convenient. Will come again !

Worth it”

Hotel was quite far from train station, need to take cab to reach, we don't mind that though. The night we reach is quite late, around 8pm, staff is really friendly, greeted us and told us the wooden floor might be slippery. The private onsen is really the best thing they had there, they even gave us couple packet of bath salt to enjoy the bath. A visit to yangmingsan is really convenient too, the bus stop is just right outside the hotel.

you can use taxi from infront of MRT station which cost around 100-150 TWD or can use the shutter bus to the hotel. hotel is peaceful and in room has fantastic private hot-spring tub.

sweet service”

Since I told them it's my boyfriend's birthday they had prepared a champagne for us, it was really nice. The only problem is the location, it's not easy to find a taxi who know about the location and is able to drive us up to the hotel because it's actually not close to the MRT.

Big room, nice view, comfortable bed”

It is almost perfect, just the rain shower is not really "rain" well, but there is shower head, in room message pool. The staff very friendly. Must try their dinner package, just TWD 1000 for in house guest. it is really worth n delicious.

Very nice hot tub in room”

Very peaceful hotel, beautiful scenery from breakfast restaurant. Room size is good. Love the bathroom, big jacuzzi tub. There is no refrigerator in room. Breakfast should be improved.

Pleasant place but breakfast lacking”

Room and bath were excellent. Restaurant had super dinner options and a lovely terrace view but the morning breakfast was very very underwhelming-- did not even have any fruit or tea. Just coffee and the Taiwanese porridge condiments which were not up to standard.

The view from the hotel is Amazing! Even The hotel has a bit aged but quite comfortable. Free Breakfast provided but need to improve.
