Ranked the best hotel in Asia and 5th in the world by the readers of Travel + Leisure, USA in 2011, this palatial Oberoi property in Udaipur is inspired by the architecture and the heritage of the kingdom of Mewar. The International Airport is 27km from The Oberoi Udaivilas Udaipur Hotel while the railway station is eight kilometers away. The city is known for its lakes, and guests enter the resort via Lake Pichola. A must-visit is the City Palace which was built in 1567, Jagdish Temple, Monsoon Palace, and the lakes. For dining, guests can choose to have a picnic lunch on a private gondola while cruising Lake Pichola. The chefs at The Oberoi Udaivilas Udaipur Hotel have been trained under the few chefs who serve the erstwhile royal families. From the minute you step in, you will be taken aback by the architecture, the service, and the views from this stunning hotel.

Unconditionally a 5-star resort!”
We could say so much about the Oberoi Udaivilas – about the exceptional, personal service, the beautiful setting along Lake Pichola, the delicious food, well-thought-out spa and fitness center, the gorgeous pool, the ample, carefully furnished rooms – and more, and more. In truth, we considered not writing a review at all, so as to keep this place a bit more of a secret for the next time we come back. We did wish the complimentary daily yoga classes were a bit later than 7:30 AM, as we never managed to get up early enough to attend. But the simple truth is that this has absolutely got to be one of the greatest hotels in the world. If you can afford it, it is worth every penny—if only just to see how a world-class luxury resort should run. We will be coming back!
The Oberoi Udaivilas is a magnificent property, beautifully maintained. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a luxurious and relaxing break. The room was spacious, clean and airy and beautifully decorated, and the Victorian bathtub was a great feature in the bathroom. The view from the Lake View room was great, and the semi-private pool was an additional bonus. The gardens and surrounds are beautiful and worth exploring. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the service in the restaurants (apart from the pool bar) efficient and friendly. The spa is worth a visit and lounging at the spa pool is a fabulous way to relax.
Best Hotel in the World”
I took my partner here for her 50th birthday as a surprise. It was very expensive but worth every penny. We've stayed in some of the world's best hotels but this was by far the best hotel we've ever stayed in. The service was unreal, the property was like a dream, the surroundings were incredible. Make sure that you arrive at the jetty and take the boat over to the hotel across the lake and don't just have your car/taxi take you to the front gate as its really magical to arrive by boat. The staff were second to none. I got greeted by name three times. I was pretty impressed. I would certainly stay here again, as well as would explore the other Oberoi properties. I just can't recommend the place enough. Magical place for a special occasion.
Amazing in every way”
was the first three days of our honeymoon - amazing. best views in udaipur with the lake palace and city palace in background, much better than the views from the other side. the service of all staff was second to none. free boat trip to the other side if needed, otherwise a pleasant walk into town or call a cab or tuk-tuk. we are already planning a return trip for our 10 year anniversary!
The real "1001 nights" hotel”
This is one of the best hotels I've ever seen ! Fantastic ambience, beautiful garden, high quality interior and exterior design, the food is excellent, the night illumination creates a magic atmosphere, fascinating “jeux d’eau” everywhere And the room with semi-private swimming pool, with view on the lake and the Udaipur palaces is really fantastic
Very nice hotel but check your bill carefully!”
We had an amazing 2 night stay at the Oberoi Udaivillas, the hotel is gorgeous and the staff made us feel special and welcome - they even had a cake and balloons waiting for us in our room for our wedding anniversary. The Indian food at the outdoor restaurant, where we ate both nights, was delicious and authentic and the Western was very good also. My only criticism was that at the end of the stay we found a few mistakes on our bill - for example charging full adult price for the kid’s breakfasts rather than 50% off and charging for a spa treatment when we did not have one. When I protested that I would have loved to have had a spa treatment but unfortunately did not have the time, the manager told the reception lady to take it off - but there was no apology for the mistake, rather I was made to feel like I was lying but they’d take the charge off anyway! This kind of soured our experience. The hotel was not at all busy at the time as it was low season.
best hotel in the word!!!”
one of the best hotels even experienced in life, better than AMAN or others. As we arrived in Udaipur at 9am, the hotel allowed us for early check-in, also for late check-out til 2pm next day. the hotel is massive and 1st time to see peacocks in hotel! Spa was gr8 and foods are stunning, all staff there was friendly and they requested no private service charge which didnt bring us pressure as everyone deservice a quite good tip! also enjoyed the boating on river at sunset, 500 employees with only 80+ room, no wonder its service is soooo nice. will def recomment it to my friends.
Relaxing oasis in the hustle of India”
After having been travelling India for a bit me and my partner decided to treat ourselves to some luxury which is hard to find in India - great customer service and tranquility. Great customer service throughout, but you do have to wait a bit for your cocktails to arrive at the pool as hotel is quite big and it takes time to walk from the bar. Lovely breakfast and food at the restaurant, very comfortable beds and good choice of spa treatments. We have enjoyed our stay tremendously and when visiting Udaipur will definitely stay there again.
A Relaxing Stay at a World Class Hotel.”
My daughter and I stayed one night at the Oberoi while visiting Udiapur. Our stay was relaxing and refreshing. The room was excellent - very comfortable and clean. The staff was most helpful and friendly. The spa pool was heated for winter use. Lovely bar. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the outdoor restaurant, with heaters and small open fire holders. The airport transportation was easy to arrange and very comfortable.
Wonderful place and pure luxury”
The moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff. The entrance to the hotel screams exclusivity and grandeur. Once inside we were offered an iced rose tea, I liked it but my husband didn't. However part of the check in happen in your room, and what a room! it was more like a suite! large, spacious and beautifully furnished! we had our own private garden patio overlooking the hotel gardens. The highlight was the private boat ride on Lake Pichola! is amazing how you easily forget that you are in India! you are transported to a charming home away from home! The Alfresco dining, accompanied by traditional life music and dancer and fire works is very memorable! we will come back there!
Amit and his team are fabulous. What a well run place. I won’t comment on quality as it is Udaivilas... but the folks make it all that more amazing.
Most luxurious hotel of India”
Luxury recent hotel built in 2005, respecting Indian traditional work. View on the City and Lake Palaces is breathtaking. Staff helpful and friendly, 2 heated pools (rather rare across Rajasthan). Breakfast slightly disappointing, and still very expensive.
Beautiful property & maharaja service”
I would highly recommend Udaivilas, it has exceeded all our expectations on all counts.
The Oberoi Udaivillas is a must stay!”
