Interesting Guest House”
Nice facility - somewhat off the main route. When we visited the "Waterside Rooms" looked out into an empty small lake bed (understand there had been a drought but the booking info did not acknowledge that)

Not suitable for cold winters”
Room is probably great in the summer and shoulder seasons but only has two small low-energy panel heaters which only give out a very limited amount of heat. Our room was stone cold all night, thank goodness the beds have electric blankets. The room itself is fine, a bit spartan maybe. CRT TV (!) with DSTV, not many of their channels. Internet access OK (for the remote location). The shower had plenty of hot water and was nice and big but pressure was disappointing. No shower products. The bed was comfortable. The room felt a little bit cramped, since it had such a lot of furniture. There is a nice patio from each room facing the man-made pond, and I'm sure it's nice to sit outside there when the weather is warmer. The location is good in the sense it's not that far from the town of Kokstad. The access road is terrible, lots of potholes and bumps but thankfully not very long. They give you a remote for the gate in case you need to go out outside of reception hours. Staff was very helpful and checkin was efficient. Breakfast was fine, although not that much choice, but the cooked breakfast was OK and the coffee very good. Note it's an extra R125 per head for breakfast and if you tell them the night before you want breakfast but then don't turn up you still have to pay, so be aware of that one. Parking was easy and very close to the room. Overall I thought the place was just OK, as long as you avoid the winter months. Last year I stayed at a similar place also just outside of Kokstad, that provide a better breakfast, bigger rooms (that are warm) for less money - so I found this place to be poor value for money, compared to what else is available in the area.
