Nice riverside guesthouse for a cheap price.”
The guesthouse had a pretty nice location on the riverside. You could have breakfast, lunch and dinner next to the river. The rooms were cheap but nice. The only problem we encountered was that the guesthouse closes at 11p.m and you have to be inside before that time. So if you want to enjoy the night life this is not the guesthouse for you. The staff was really nice though because we booked and payed 2 nights in advance and after finding out about the curfew we wanted to leave and we got a full refund for the 2nd night.
Great Location and Friendliest Staff”
Room was simple but clean, even free toiletries! Our room was by the river so very light and airy. Maybe could've had a mosquito net but many places don't. Ensuite bathroom which is a luxury and a nice seating area by the river. The owner did his upmost to help us with our requests even driving to find us a tuktuk and helping us to negotiate a fair price which we were extremely grateful for. Would definitely recommend for a stop in Ayutthaya
Sadly many mosquitos as next to river ”
I loved the ambiance at Old place where staff let you sit and enjoy riverfront tables at the restaurant section of this guesthouse. As this place next to river there is too much mosquito around and inside the rooms. My A/C, hot water room was $14.50, it looked well cleaned but excessive deodorant spray to cover up things. Sadly bathroom is only a small area created by putting a short wall to one corner of the room so the ceiling is open. Toilet/shower area not pretty, shower water flows over the toilet seat. But this guesthouse is very central and as I said riverfront view is very nice. Also staff was very friendly, no bed bugs and one of the most affordable room in ayutthaya
Great location ”
If you get the train this property is only over the river just a quick ferry crossing over and ideal place to explore - Amazing staff & for the price we got what was paid for
Great place! ”
I stayed there few times and it’s a great place! By the river! It’s very nice and quiet and close to everything. The staff is very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again!
The owner is very nice and helpful! Perfect location next to a bike rental shop (moped=200 baht and bicycle=40 baht), boat ride tours, and a ferry. Great view on the river. Very relaxing. Quiet! Two minute walk to the food market and five minute walk to Soi Farang. Easy access to the train station by motor bike (20 baht) or by boat (5 baht). The owner even helped me book a mini van to Kanchanaburi.
Pros : Staff are nice & friendly. Location is close to the station & within walking distance to some of the best temples. Cons : Dirty marks all over the walls, constant drain smell from the bathroom, walls are thin chipboard so you can hear pretty much everything going on in the guesthouse, staff close the outside shutter at midnight (so I was told) but it was two thirds of the way down by 22:30 so I had to limbo dance under it to get out & go to the shop. Place is cheap but I wouldn't stay there again. Most of the problems could be fixed with some bleach & a scrubbing brush. Sorry, would not recommend.
Great little guesthouse”
Really nice stay, caught a tuk tuk from the railway station and he tuk my easy 60 baht, should have walked across the road and down to the river, 5 baht ferry practically drops you at the door, rental bikes and motorbikes (recommended @ 150bht for half a day), the owner is great and the veranda overlooking the river is to die for.
Old by name, old by nature”
We booked an air conditioned room but upon arrival were told the unit was broken and we were given a fan room and refunded the digference. It was also a twin which also had two big holes in the Wall. Overall or stay was ok and the staff were nice but we felt the place could use a little more care.and attention.
i love this place thai nostiga”
Graet location, family staff ,understand english. The river boat scenes are the greatest from here
Give it a miss”
Disappointing is the word for this place simply because with a good clean up and a coat of paint on the walls it could be OK. We paid on Agado for a deluxe Room and ended up in a dosser with dirty walls, bathroom and extremely below average pit. one could of scored a really nice room else where. Bad luck but there you have it. They do fan rooms which would be worth it. Great location and good staff, cant blame them if the owner does not care about this place. Give it a big miss, plenty of other places around.
Rather old to be a guest house”
Currently the Old Place is too OLD to be a guest house. Needs a major renovation.
stay 1 day ”
Nice and small village. The owner was friendly. In the same street is a small market and a seven eleven.
Terrible standard room, OK location”
In two words: stay away. The entrance closes at midnight, the room(s) we saw had no hot water (broken boiler), the sink drain dripped on your feet, the toilet seat was broken and loose, the shower siphon spattered everywhere, the mosquito net was broken and some bugs got it and the linen had some spots (although there was no bad smell). If you are on the budget, it's cheap and you won't die there, but I have to admit it's the worst place we've slept in many years of travelling and with the same money you can get much better accommodation!
Deck lounging area in the river ”
Adequate older property. Location and deck on the river a huge plus.
a filthy prison ”
I've lived in Thailand 8 yrs & speak thai. I never complain because I don't have the same expectations as tourists who've just arrived here. But this place is an A-grade dump. It's filthy. No light in bathroom to shave. The door pops open when it sounds locked. I came back to find my door open with my $2000 guitar luckily still there. The guy was angry with me when he heard me trying to slam door shut. He explained a complex manoeuvre of lifting and wedging the door like I was an idiot, yet failed to tell me when I first checked in that there was a problem. Also ..you're not allowed out after 11pm because he wants to sleep & but is too cheap to get front door set up to allow free passage. So you're locked in. You can hear people in next rooms whispering. Ordering a coffee is clearly a big problem for them. Their attitude makes it clear you're wasting their important time. If I was a bad tempered rude guy I.could understand their attitude but I'm very polite and smiled through it's all thai style. One lady who knew I spoke thai talked about me like had no language while I was standing in front of her. Maybe if you're young and having your first adventure away from home this place could seem exciting because the river lends some romance...but anyone wanting minimum comfort and respect would be better served somewhere else .
Nice deck but the rooms are in dire need of some renovation. When I arrived, Some girl asked me for m booking and I told her three times that I had an AC room and she kept asking if it was a fan room. I had the booking in front of me. Go bloody check.
Dirty room, rude staff”
When I arrive I was not expected. The staff on reception didn't speak English and was more interested in playing his computer game. The room was dirty. There was no drinking water available and they locked the door between midnight and 8 am, meaning I couldn't leave to buy myself a drink. I was not informed that the door would be locked between these times and would've been locked out if I returned too late. I couldn't leave the hotel until 8am, meaning if I had to leave to catch a train or a flight I would've missed it.
worst night ever”
Well to be true the first look on the room and the view was charming but then comes the night! The hotel is close to the river so noise of motor boats all night long and then I lay down in the bed... I actually think the mattress was made of wood or bricks we couldn't sleep at all. Every part of our bodies was painfull.
