Owner Steven was very enthusiastic and kind, just as mentioned in the reviews! I neglected to confirm, but there is no reception desk like a hotel, so I needed to inform the owner of my check-in time in advance. However, I arrived a bit earlier than the check-in time without contacting him, and when I reached out for guidance in front of the house's gate, he quickly came to help me inside. For someone like me who doesn't understand English, he explained the facilities, nearby restaurants, tourist spots, and money exchange places with gestures and plenty of humor, even mentioning that if I tell them Steven's name, I could get a free drink, offering to drive me to my destination since it was hot, and saying it was okay to contact him anytime 24/7—his hospitality was incredible. This house has three rooms, two of which share a toilet and shower, while one has a private bathroom inside the room (the hairdryer was in the room). The kitchen and washing machine (with detergent provided) are shared among the three rooms, and everything—water, hot water, instant coffee, tea, cup noodles, the washing machine, and movie viewing with a projector (in both the room and living room)—was free. Additionally, Steven sent me the URL for a bus booking site for my move to Kuala Lumpur the next day, and despite it being 6 a.m., he drove me to the bus terminal and explained the directions inside the terminal. He also shared who the current guests were and where they were from, and he introduced me to other guests by saying, “This is the girl staying in this room today.” It felt less like just a place to stay and more like a share house, almost like family. **Notes:** 1. Cameras are installed on the balcony, entrance, and hallway. Steven explained while showing me on his iPad that he checks these areas, so please hang your underwear inside the room. 2. I am single and have no significant other. In my home country, I feel pressure from family and society about being single, and I find refreshment through solo travel in places where I think people value freedom and diversity more than in Japan. I often hear questions like, "Don't you have a husband? No boyfriend?" and it feels the same no matter where I am. I wonder if not being in a romance makes me less valuable as a person. 3. The only shock came when I spotted something black in the hallway at night. The building was very clean, and I thought it was probably due to the warm climate, so I blocked the bottom of my room door with a towel to sleep. However, despite that incident, I believe there is nowhere else that offers such comprehensive hospitality at such a low price, and I would recommend it to first-time visitors to Malacca or to those who enjoy a homely atmosphere.
