Very good”
We were well looked after here - it's a strange mix between a kooky safari camp set up with a formal management style and restaurant. The chalets are quite simple- we loved the deep bath- and our boys enjoyed the swings and shady pool. it has a beautiful lake just on its doorstep.

Natural Paradise, off-season stay”
The little resort is a nicely maintained paradise with ecological background. It consists of several high level bungalows in a large garden, which are cleaned twice a day and give you a homely jungle feeling. There are many animals (wild monkeys, birds, lizards, peacocks, chickens, etc...) and the casual elefant (once a year (,-)) coming by in front of your terrace or the cool pool and you could stay there alone for 2 weeks without getting bored. The cooks are doing an awesome job in preparing 3-star cuisine with the home-grown vegetables and try always to give you new insights in the local plants and how to cook them. Its also very interesting to visit the friendly gardener and let him show you herbs and plants, which are on your plate in the evening. Best food on our three weeks journey through Sri Lanka for a very low price if I consider the level. But there are many more things to do. The local Naturalist Dhilip De Alwis will take you on an early morning stroll with bird watching in the area around the near lake. We saw many species (Hawk-Eagle, Sea-Hawk, Oriole, Kingfisher....) Just check out his photographs on National Geographic to get a first impression. The manager is also very helpful in organising trips to the National Parks (e.g. Elephants in Minneriya) or to the historical sites of the Cultural Triangle for a reasonable price. One member of the staff, Kushan, was doing Tuktuk-tours with us to Dambulla and Pidurangala Rock (Skip Sigiriya and climb Pidurangala if you are physically fit enough, much better!). He was very helpful and friendly and it was always nice to have him around. Thank you very much for an awesome stay! Johanna & Florian

Stayed three nights”
The staff were fantastic, the rooms were spacious and watching the sun come up on the veranda was very peaceful and a great way to start the day. A great way to end the day was tasting the chefs fresh cook meals then move onto a cold drink with your feet getting a fish foot spa. Would stay again, and recommend to others. Tranquility is the order of the day here,

Very rustic”
We had two nights at the Other Corner and found it comfortable and clean. The rooms were scattered around the lovely tropical gardens and we felt like we were on safari, which was nice. The food was good and the staff were helpful. We enjoyed the nature walk with the resident naturalist. A little pricey for what was on offer.

Wonderful small eco-resort”
The high point of this resort is their enthusiastic naturalist, Dhilip. His knowledge of the local fauna, especially the birds, is only surpassed by his obvious love of sharing that knowledge. The rooms were ample, though ours was much too dark and not quite as clean as it could be. Further, a little better maintenance wouldn't hurt. The staff, on the other hand, were top notch and the food was excellent. We really liked this place and the birding.

Absolutely wonderful!”
Staff, chalet/grounds, food
We stayed at The Other Corner for three nights. The staff are warm, attentive and will help you with anything you need. The managers Erik and Jeffrey are super friendly and helpful and really made our stay, helping us with transfers to the cultural sites and to the airport, they even took us to the hotel's farm to meet with the gardener and pick our own vegetables for our last dinner! Dilipe the on site naturalist (and comedian!) was incredibly fascinating and took us on a nature work around the grounds and surrounding area showing us the varying birdlife of peacocks, hawk eagles and many beautifully coloured others! The grounds have a lovely nature feel whilst being perfectly maintained with lots of different trees (and monkeys!) and plants and little tree houses dotted around with a lovely swimming pool. The chalet we stayed in was immaculate and spacious. The environment is wonderfully relaxing, we used it as a base to travel to Sigiriya and Dambulla (both a must see!) but would have happily just stayed at The Other Corner the whole time as it is so lovely! We also used the hotel's jeep for a safari at the nearby eco-park. We had previously visited Uda Walawe and preferred the eco-park as it felt more natural and less busier. We were lucky to spend a long time on our own watching a herd of elephants. The food was great. The traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry was one of the best we had on our trip (and we had alot!!) the breakfasts in the morning are excellent. The restaurant service staff are polite, attentive and efficient, which was a bonus as we found that service can be quite ‘laid back’ in Sri Lanka!!! Thank you to all at The Other Corner for ending our holiday in the perfect way! We highly recommend this hotel! It was the perfect conclusion to an amazing holiday in this beautiful country.
