Friendly Service with Great Views”

Stunning views, great facilities, friendly service, easily accessible, affordable, excellent buffet

our stay at pacific sutera was very pleasant. the staff seemed quite tolerant of playful antics of our 12-year-old twins and their school friend who accompanied us on this pleasure trip. the food was outstanding and the views were simply stunning. if you like golf there's a 27-hole course adjacent to the hotel. there is also tennis, bowling and a variety of other facilities that we did not utilize, but are available to the guests. their pool is large and located right next to the beach. the location is great and only a 12rm taxi ride to downtown (wisma). the rooms were not abundantly spacious, but more than adequate for our needs as our kids had their separate room. we had an ocean view room which was well worth the nominal surcharge. indeed, our overall stay was very pleasant. the only negative worth commenting about has to do with the staff's lack of willingness to assist us with directions and give us ideas on which borneo tourist attractions to visit. we rented a car which clearly is in conflict with their revenue generating tour business at the hotel. as a consequence to this, we found them quick to recommend a tour, but quite reluctant to offer assistance if we were to 'go it' alone. it's only a slight negative when you consider that all businesses operate the same way in kota kinabalu when there exists this conflict of interest, such as the downtown scuba diving shop we used. overall however, it's a great place and well worth considering when you visit kk.

Better than what I expected- a lovely surprise”

good service, room was clean, pools and facilities were nice and child friendly

I had little expectation about this hotel but was pleasantly surprised by the service, the room, the pools, facilities and the food. Room was big with a nice design of the bathroom although the shower room was a little small. The swimming pools in both Pacific Sutera and Magellan Sutera were not crowded. They have enough sun beds with towels waiting for the guests. We had dinner at Al Fresco restaurant in Magellan Sutera which was very enjoyable. We were given complimentary breads with 2 types of dip: hummus and tomato which was delicious. My daughter loved the creamy carbonara, I loved the nasi goreng and my husband loved his seafood bowl. The service was efficient and the waiter attended to our needs in a friendly manner. The following day, we had brunch by the poolside of the Pacific Sutera. They agreed to take our orders at 1045am even if they officially open by 11am which was very considerate of them as I explained that we had to check out by 12nn. The beef burger, the footlog hotdog and spring rolls came in big portions and nicely presented aside from tasting good. I loved my stay in this hotel- better than our stay in Shangrila Tanjung Aru. Tip: Save some money and check-in at Pacific Sutera instead of Shangrila Tanjung Aru where you get better service at half the price.

Awesome accomadating resort”

Very warm freiendly smiling staff, always ready to answer questions & help out. The food was amazing, the buffets had no much choice & the standard of food offered was excellent. 3-resorts in-1, with the Pacific Sutera & Magellan Sutera near each other. In between was the Marina Country Club. This meant that as a guest we could use any of the 3 resorts, pools, resturants & bars, & charge to our rooms. Convenient, first-class facilities & very close to town
Nothing .. I loved theis place & will definitley be back

Very warm friendly, smiling staff always ready to answer your questions & help out. Sumptuous buffets with mouth-watering choices. We stayed for a week & every single meal both buffet & a-la-carte was great.. I think we all put on weight. Pools were great .. a 3-hour Happy Hour every day at the Pacific Sutera Pool was awesome. The 2 resorts, (Pacific Sutera & Magellan Sutera) being "inter-changable", meaning we could go to wither esort which were a 5mins walk or a 1-min shuttle ride apart, made a great change. Plus, being able to Use the facilities at the Marina Country Club as well, and chrage to our room at any of the 3 resorts, meant that we could move arouns as we liked, use 2 Kids Clubs, 5 pools, countless restaurants & bars.Definitely a great family place. This is my third trip to Kota Kinabalu, 7 the Sutera was my favourite place to stay so far.We will definitely be back

Perfect stay”

Comfortable and Spacious Room, Beautiful Ocean View, Fast Wifi Internet

I stayed in The Pacific Sutera for 2 nights, one in a room facing the Golf view, and the next day I moved into the Ocean view which is indeed a huge upgrade in the quality of scenery. Amazing ocean view. Rooms for both nights are equally spacious, facilities are awesome and the wifi internet is very quick. This luxury hotel is indeed very suitable for business travellers though buffet breakfast was average only. Would expect a better quality of food. Overall satisfied with my stay. I will definitely return to Pacific Sutera the next time I visit Kota Kinabalu.

The highest C/P in Kota Kinabalu”

Good value for money

for all the 5 stars resorts with beach in kota kinabalu, which one is the cheapest? definitely it is pacific sutera. nexus, shangrila are more expensive and almost the double price of pacific sutera. you can use the facilities in the sutera habour. that is another pros. the breakfast is too expensive. if your room price is not included, it costs 52 rm plus tax (60 rm) for each. i think the food is not good and not reaching to the value of the money. the taxi to the bki airport is also expensive, it costs 30 rm. but it is so near. less than 10 mins driving time.

Gorgeous facilities with friendly & helpful staff”

Pacific offered everything in one place - entertainment, good food, relaxing by the many pools - no need to leave

My husband and I stayed at Pacific Sutera as part of our wedding package (arranged by Pacific's own Charming Weddings). The honeymoon suite was gorgeous and spacious. We had red roses laid out in every room and lovely satin sheets. Room service was great - although not cheap! Sneaky way is to catch their 3 ringgit shuttle bus into town, do your shopping at a local supermarket for drinks/munchies and bring it back to the hotel. There's a variety of dinner options within the hotel complex (including Magellan - the sister hotel 2 minutes away around the harbour). You can choose from Chinese, Western, Italian, Mediterranean (Alfresco - best value for money by far) and plenty of pool side options (Waves - satay was YUM!). Overall, we loved our experience at Pacific Sutera. Just remember that prices are ALWAYS negotiable with the locals and you can haggle without any offence to them, plus you get a better deal.

Great hotel with friendly staff”

The staff, facilities and location

The Pacific Sutera proved to be a great choice for a stay, in an excellent location, 5 mins from the airport and 10 mins by the hotel shuttle from KK's centre. The rooms are welcoming, even if slightly tired, with all the things you would expect from a hotel of this standard complimented by good views. The hotel has a lovely pool area, a fine golf course and, with the resort included, a very good choice of restaurants. The best thing was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff which was amongst the best we've encountered. The only slight disappointment was the spa massage which, although fine, was overpriced. Overall an excellent choice if you are looking to stay in Kota Kinabalu.

First time in Sabah”

Location; Service; Shuttle

Location: Pacific Sutera boasts of a location that would be the envy of any premium hotel. Situated right next to the bay area, it has its own beach front. One can can view the majestic view of the sea with the hills in the backdrop. Service: The staff were really friendly, hospitable and accomodating. We felt welcome and our stay was quite pleasant. Rooms; The rooms are quite nice, and if you can get the one with view of the sea, you are all set for a great vacation. The hotel also boasts of many different restaurants, with a shuttle to take you around every 20 minutes or so. To sum up, Pacific Sutera was a great experience and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Kota Kinabalu.

We'll be back :-)”

Very nice room, just renovated, with enough space to comfortably fit an extra bed for our 3 year old.

it was our second stay at the pacific and after 5 years the rooms are better (newly renovated), the food is better (excellent actually) and the facilities remain top class. we could not do the sporty things (white water rafting and scuba diving) we had done on our previous trip due to the little one but we had a fantastic time going to the islands, the pool at the sutera country club with children slides was the top hit for our little one, and we alos had a memorable trip on board a 19th century wood-fire steam train. highly recommend both kota kinabalu and the pacific sutera.

Beautiful views of the ocean from the room”

The Sutera Harbour facilities

We had a Deluxe Sea View room which was definitely worth it as the full length windows in the room gave us an amazing view of the ocean. The hotel rooms are nice, clean and comfortable - everything you expect from a resort of this standard. The hotel is next to the Magellan Sutera and they share the facilities although it appears that the finer dining options are closer to the Magellan and the Pacific. However, still a great deal as the Pacific is slightly cheaper (the Magellan might be better suited to honeymooners or families as the facilities are a little more upmarket but it also has a great kids centre). There was also a shuttle bus that ran hourly to take you into the city for 3 Ringgit each (return tickets) - definitely worth it if you get bored of lying around the pool and strolling around the facilities. Also, note that the food in the city is alot cheaper than at the resort (in some cases you only pay one tenth of the price they charge at the resort - albeit the city cafes are not as clean). We also couldn't get a round of golf in as we needed to demonstrate a handicap (which we didn't have as we're not members of a golf club) so that was disappointing.

Great resort stay in KK”

Great amenities, Relaxing environment, Able to use all facilities

My wife and I stayed at Pacific Sutera Harbour for two nights at the end of our SE Asia trip. Sutera Harbour has two hotel options, the Pacific and the Magellan. The Pacific is more of a business hotel, while the Magellan has a more resort style feel. However, wherever one stays, all facilities, including the clubhouse and golf course, are available for hotel guests. Furthermore, Sutera Harbour has their own jetty for trips to TARP islands. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Sutera Harbour, enjoying each of the three different pools. We enjoyed walking the picturesque grounds taking pictures of the pool area overlooking the islands. The rooms were clean and spacious, with the bathroom having a separate shower and bath. The room also comes with a LAN line, but wireless was only available in the lobby. The hotel also has a business centre, fitness center, and spa along with many restaurants. The included breakfast (at Cafe Bole) was fine having both Western and local cuisine. For those wanting to visit the city, there is a shuttle that takes guests to KK every hour at a cost of 3 myr per person. Overall, our experience at Sutera Harbour was a great end to our trip.

Makes you feel looked after!”

Caring helpful service, can take ferry to islands direct from hotel, well located hotel, fresh cooked items at breakfast buffet are good.
Tiny beach area is tiny and not maintained (lots of rubbish and plastic bags floating at shoreline), breakfast cleared at 10:30am sharp.

We stayed 4 days. Hotel staff were the highlight. Always smiling, very willing to share their knowledge. We had a problem with a taxi driver trying to charge us more than the standard rate. They try when they realise you are at Sutera since it's a nice hotel. The staff waiting to open our taxi (the driver had stopped away from him on purpose) immediately came to ask us if we were ok and had even memorised the taxi number. He said he would make a complaint on our behalf. We were very keen on mt kinabalu although we only had a short time so the concierge arranged an English speaking driver in a car (mini mpv - more comfy than taxi) to take us directly to timpohon gate. We had our own timing this way and could hike the lower part of the summit trail. 300RM for 8 hours. Hotel had little chocolates sent to our room everyday (although we were 3pax and only 2 pc). Cheapest golf view room but we had a definite partial view of harbour. Certain items at breakfast were great (excellent pancakes, roti canai) but the other items were mediocre at best. Shuttle bus every hour to town to major shopping areas and back but last bus back was 9:20pm. Would have been nice to have one later service so easier to catch back after dinner. Avoid the taxi drivers hanging out smoking down from the shuttle bus stop outside centrepoint unless you don't mind being overcharged. Discuss price upfront, it should be 10RM to sutera though. The ferry and snorkelling equipment and island fee to Manukan cost 80RM, we were told later it would be cheaper from Jesseltown but it was so convenient and we did it last minute.

Holiday At The Pacific Sutera”

The friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff. The food at all of the venues was value for money. The location and scenery. How well the grounds were kept.
The hotel is beginning to show wear and tear. The chairs and sofa's in the lobby are getting frayed and the walls in the rooms are showing weather or dampness wear spots.

This was my first trip to Kota Kinabalu, but after my stay at the Pacific Sutera, it will not be my last. From the greeting at the airport to the welcome at the hotel, the experience was first class. Once the staff asked how they could address me, they never forgot my name. The food at all of the restaurants from the poolside restaurant and bar to the Chinese restaurant served the freshest dishes. Breakfast was an amazing assortment from traditional to country specific dishes. I was especially pleased with the service when we spent a day traveling and snorkeling at 3 different islands. The staff was always there to ensure that you were taken care of and your needs were met. One evening we went into town for a meal and drinks, but with the service and excellent food choices, we found ourselves wanting to stay at the resort and not necessary to leave the grounds.

Pacific Sutera”

Perfect getaway resort hotel in KOTA
none

The Pacific Sutera (silk) is probably the best Resort hotel in Kota Kinabalu. What they dont tell you in the website is that you can also enjoy the pool areas of the MAGELLAN And their members only "marina" (great for the kids!). THe Marina is the only pool area that has the slides, so if you plan to stay here at the PAcific, walk around the boardwalk - its good excercise and make the huge complex a bit closer to each other.

Great resort with friendly and helpful staff”

Relaxing resort, nice room with great views, nice pool

We stayed at Pacific Sutera for one night before going up to Mount Kinabalu and then coming back to stay at Magellan Sutera. Pacific Sutera has a relaxing resort environment, comfortable rooms with nice views, nice pool and restaurants. The beach is not exactly big but good enough for a young child. It is in the same big compound as Magellan, and you can actually walk between the two resorts and share the facilities. By comparison, Magellan offers slightly premium services such as welcome drink, better restaurants, kids' club and nicer pool. It, however, has a smaller beach. Both offer free wired Internet, with wireless access only in common areas. They offer a nearly hourly shuttle bus to the city for RM3. Alternatively, taxi costs RM12.

great place to recover after climbing mt kinabalu”

location, views and outdoor facilities

We booked this directly after descending mount kinabalu. last year my friend and I climbed mt Kinabalu but couldnt summit because of bad weather. first night after descent we stayed at pacific sutera, as was great place to unwind. this year, my partner and I, summited mt kinabalu and decided to stay at sutera again. as we had booked whilst on our way to hotel, slight delay while hotel confirmed accomodation with agoda, even though we provided proof of accomdation. after entering room, which we had been upgraded to, electricity went out. room unfortunately was not satisfactory, but after complaining twice we were upgraded to fantastic room. earlier review that I posted provides rest of my comments. to end, started of not so great, but finished on great note. good food (mainly at restaurants at magellan hotel), fantastic pools, quite relaxing beaches.

Loved it”

Had a fantastic stay here. The check in was great with really good staff. All the staff here were really really good. Every staff member was very friendly and helpful. The room had a great view over the ocean and was well kept and had good size and facilities. There are many resturants on the premises and you can walk to the Magellan Sutera and eat at the resturants there. We found the Pacific Sutera resturants to be better but there are plenty to choose form. Breakfast was excellent with a big range on the buffet. There is a mini bus that transports you to the main places in the city for a very small fee and you can get a ride back from any of the drop off points. The pool and the grounds are great too. Loved it here and really hope we can make it back to here one day if we are flying through countries near to here. Thank you Pacific Sutera

Amazing short stay at a great resort!”

Location, facilities, friendly staff.

The Pacific Sutera is a little dated in its decor but its location and facilities made up for it. The staff were super friendly, our room was really lovely although the view wasn't really of the golf course. The gym was well equipped and we used it a couple of times during our stay. The pool was really nice, spacious and not too crowded. The choice of dining was varied and we also explored the facilities at the Country Club and Magellan Hotel. We had an aromatherapy massage in the spa which was really nice! The shuttle bus into the city was perfect for us to use on our last day and it was easy to navigate around the KK city centre. We saved a lot of time as we were only 10 minutes from the airport and the city centre so the Pacific Sutera is ideal for short trips.

My favourite of the 3 hotels that I stayed at!”

The breadth and depth of the breakfast, the sea view from the room and the sheltered pool/gardens.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Pacific Sutera. Having traveled a long distance (UK), it was the perfect welcome to Kota Kinabalu. Relaxing in peaceful surroundings, enjoying an ample buffet breakfast every morning and the smooth tones of the live jazz musicians in the evenings really started my holiday off in the appropriate manner!
