Awesomee”

It was great staying in here. The staff were really nice and fun to talk into, he helped us a lot when we were here and he was ready to help if there are something wrong with the facilities. The place is really great with kitchen and all it was easier if you have low budget. It is also really close to bus stop so you can easily go to any area, there are market that is really close too though station was a little bit far but still really near. Overall it was really great staying in here!

nice tatami room ”

no lift , when check in , staff will help to carry the luggage, but check out , u need to carry ourself as we stay at 2nd floor . parents with old age not suitable to climb up 2nd floor and tatami sleep.

Nice room n very friendly staff”

No lift, not suitable for my parents who leg pain to climb up to 2nd floor. Tatami room was nice, clean. Just aircond like switch off or restart outomaticly at midnight of all our rooms (7 rooms we stay for 3days 2 nights).

Proximity from station was too far, apartment had limited space”

The Pagoda Experience was an apartment located along the road directly opposite Toji Temple (takes up to 10mins walk from Toji station and a 15mins walk from Kujo subway station) . When we checked-in, the receptionist was ultra nice and welcoming even though we came at around 930pm. Our room was located on the third floor so we had to lug our luggage up in a narrow stairway that looked like an emergency staircase. Our room was quite cramped for three people to stay as only two futons could fit onto the elevated platform so my other friend had to sleep in a narrow space in between the platform and the wall (The other space being used to put our luggages). The amenties were sufficient as they had a microwave, fridge, kettle, induction cooker and even a washing machine with detergent provided. Overall, the three nights there was quite enjoyable albeit it could be improved about the design so that it could be more suited for three to stay in one room.

the room is clean, comes with kitchenware, washing machine, iron etc. It is value for money, highly recommended especially for traveler who needs to cook, it has 2 supermarket nearby if need to shop for groceries

Excellent”

Very new hotel. Clean and compact, it's like a home. The heating in the room is comfortable. There are many good and nice and affortable restarurants nearby. 7-11, family mart, Lawson and Fresso are nearby. We hired a taxi for 5 of us and 3 pcs big luggage from Kyoto station to the hotel cost us 1000yen. The front desk officer is very friendly and helpful to guide us to nearby train station and recommend restaurant to us. Overall, very satisfy with the staff service, cleanliness and facilities in the room.

What a surprise ”

Arriving in the area of the hotel you could be forgiven in thinking ‘it’s a bit old around here’ but when arriving what a pleasure immaculate if small great welcome and lovely room with all that you could ask for and the thrill of sleeping on a raised tatami bed floor with futon pads just like country japan. Opposite the hotel is a temple just along the road an amazing pagoda, short step right out of the door a great local restaurant and left then first right and on next corner an amazing nothing fancy locals restaurant small choice but amazing food and great prices. A great selection all round

Pros- the toji temple is just around the corner. No admission fee so you can go early before the other tourists arrive. The temple is approx 3minutes walk... toji station is also very close by. They also provide towels. I think the best part was they already laid out the futon for you. So after a long day of travel, you need not have to make your own bed. Cons- no elevator

Great room, good location ”

I wish we’d stayed here longer! Although I like futons it was nice to sleep in a regular bed after a week on the floor. The room was a good size, large bathroom and good amenities. The bus stop was close by and it was only about 15 minutes walk to Kyoto station if you prefer the exercise! Staff were nice and it was a quiet building.

Value for money accomodation”

Location is good with bus stop within 5 min walk. Right next to Toji pagoda so very easy to locate on map. We took a taxi from kyoto station, cost us 1000yen. A supermaket and minimart is within walking distance. Room is clean and sparkling. Building is new as this hotel is open this year. bathroom is good size and a washing machine (detergent is provided). Small balcony to hang washed clothes. Mini kitchen has fridge, kettle, microwave and induction cooker. Good for my family as I need to warm milk for kids. No TV, but basically we don't need it after a whole day of sightseeing. Disadvanage: no space for a table to put small items like bag/watch etc. There is a small foldable table provided but we cant use it as we need the space for futon and luggage (we have only 1 large luggage) No elevator (3 level hotel) Staff let us leave our stroller at the ground floor. Overall, a good value hotel. Good choice to stay in kyoto

Great room and facilities”

Pros - The place was great, very nicely decorated - very clean and new. Facilities were very complete with washer/ kitchen facilities and room and toilet quite big compared to other places we stayed at. The staff are also very helpful and speak english. Toji station not too far and you can catch buses near Toji temple area. Kyoto station is around 20 minutes walk. Cons - The place was a bit difficult to find - took a cab and he had to use his gps. The sign is not obvious until you are right in front of the place. You can get a name card with address/ phone to make it easier. Perhaps a larger sign or one visible from down the road will be helpful. There is no lift. .

Staffs are friendly & helpful especial Kobel-san, provided us useful info voluntarily, thumbs up!!!”

Improve the simple communication in English with the guests, so far Kobel-san is the only staff who speaks very fluent English. He is very helpful & friendly, shared with us even we never ask him for it, appreciate him a lot.

Amazing hotel with all facilities that you may use”

The Pagoda Experience is located near Toji Temple, not far from Kintetsu Toji Station. Although it takes only 5-10 minutes walk from the station, locating near Kintetsu is not much convenient for your trip in Kyoto with JR train because you always need to interchange at Kyoto Station and Kintetsu Kyoto Line is not covered by JR Pass. There are convenient stores and supermarkets near the hotel. The advantage of this hotel is the guest room. It's so amazing. There are all facilities in your room, for example, many plugs, utensils, cutlery, microwave, fridge, electric kettle, sink, washing machine and steamed iron. Therefore, it's very valuable for the pretty price. I love this hotel and highly recommend it.

Very good”

I suspect I'm usually critical of all Hotel room lighting. This said, our room at the Pagoda Experience had the most God Awful blindingly intense overhead light we've ever experienced. I've found that the lack of a bedside reading lamp is not exclusive to this Hotel alone. Perhaps the Japanese do not read in bed? Perhaps all their reading is done on Kindel? Reguardless, as an Old School paper text reader in my future travels to Japan I'll note to pack my own reading lamp.

Clean & Nice”

This minute book, still get not bad hotel. Clean , nice and comfortable room. At Kyoto station take bus to this hotel, then still need walk around 5-10 minute. Staff nice and can speak English.
