Excellent Hotel”
went to kota kinabalu and stayed at the palace hotel...wow! awesome hotel. very clean, modern decor, great staff, yummy breakfast buffet, pool, steam room, gym...and of course, room service! we were very impressed with the room, which was very large, actually larger than the others on the 4th floor, it was a corner room so we got more bang for our buck. food from room service was good, the breakfast was an all you can eat buffet...all the breads, eggs, sausages, french toast, and everything else you can eat, which is a good start if you're planning on going island hopping. went snorkeling and wasn't hungry until we came back! the staff was very friendly, and helps out where they can. you can also ask them to call a taxi for you, very convenient. the only downside is that you cannot order food or drinks and put it on your tab. if you're poolside and want a drink, you have to pay cash. other than that, the hotel was great. the hotel is'out of the way', but kk is so small it doesn't really matter, you can't walk from the hotel to the beach though, that's a bit of a long walk. but, we choose to pay $60 per night for a freakin awesome room, instead of paying a night for a crappy room waterside. great hotel, highly recommended.
Great location”
situated in kota kinabalu, the palace hotel is the only hotel in the city sitting majestically atop hill surrounded by lush tropical greenery overlooking west towards the south china sea. the palace hotel is conveniently located within 10 minute drive from kota kinabalu international airport and walking distance to the bustling city center.
Excellent location!”
We stayed for 6 days in a deluxe room which was great. The staff are very accommodating, the breakfast was good. We left for two days to stay at a resort and came back to the Palace for one night before flying out. Our room was a superior but I found it was very noisy . The maintenance person had a look and turned the exhaust off in the bathroom. We came back after a few hours(having left the card in the slot to keep electricity on) and found the air con wasn't working. The staff face us another room but we didn't have hot water that night or the next morning. I will make sure I stayed in the deluxe room the next time I go to Kota Kinabalu. Overall it was a really nice hotel in a good location.
A western feeling with malaysian hospitality ”
We had a wonderful stay ending up staying alot longer than expected. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, pool and comfortable rooms with fox movie channel. We are backpacking for a few months and took a break from the cheep hostels so this hotel was heaven for us. The service is over all very good with one exception, one of the pool boys that seemed unwilling to provide towels and sun chair mattresses, but that is a very minor thing. I don't have anything else to complain about. We've really had a great and relaxing stay, wishing we could stay longer. We were doubtful because of the reviews but I can't understand the "low" reviews since we didn't find anything to complain about. It takes 5 minutes to walk to center point mall and 15 to suria sabah (faster to walk than taxi during rush hours) so it is very near the center. The pool area is nice and fresh (not smelly at all), and I love their efforts to make the hotel an environmentally friendly hotel. We absolutly recommend the Palace hotel.
Sustainable and Environmental Awareness”
Had a very pleasant stays with my wife! We love the staff attitudes, we talked to the manager Ms Lily Shim, it's very well one of the best customer services we had in Kota Kinabalu with affordable room price. The hotel itself feels like luxury resort. The main plus was the hotels effort in participation in raising awareness to a cleaner and sustainable future by promoting the use of recycled product.
Great location & fabulous service”
We had a fabulous stay at the Palace and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. It is in a very conveniet location - within walking distance to the main shopping areas in Kota Kinabalu. We walked down to Centrepoint and the waterfront area for dinner. The swimming pool was lovely to help us relax after our climb of Mount Kinabalu. We were upgraded as this was our second stay at the Palace and the room was lovely. The room was clean, comfortable and modern.
Warm and Friendly”
The Palace Hotel may be a little more of a walk from some of the more Central Hotels - but the warmth and friendliness of the staff outweighed the little extra exercise required (besides the food was good so you needed the extra exercise to burn off those calories). The rooms were clean, modern and well serviced. From the front door to reception and into the dining room we constantly felt recognised and acknowledged we made us feel welcomed. WE would recommend this hotel and felt more comfortable than at a larger more impersonal 5 star resort we stayed at later in our trip.
Amazing hotel and even better staff!!”
I have to say, when I read the previous reviews we almost didn't choose to stay at The Palace but thankfully we did! What a great hotel. The standard rooms were beautiful and well kept, the pool is clean and the surroundings are beautiful, and the breakfast buffet was delicious and was included in our price. They served everything you could think of including omelet and waffle stations (curry dishes and the like as well) etc. The staff was particularity helpful and even took service to the extra step! I really do not understand the previous reviews and I can tell you that we were glad to have stayed (on two separate occasions when returning to KK)!
Nice hotel in a nice location”
the hotel is in a nice location in kota kinabalu. cabs are readily available. the hotel is also pretty descent at the prices offered. the rooms are also nice and the breakfast is also pretty good. as we stayed for short time, we are not much aware of other facilities offered by the hotel. i would recommend this hotel for stay in kota kinabalu.
A very comfy clean ,fast check in n out hotel.”
Only one night stay at this hotel , after back from mount. Kota kinabalu is very tired , but those staff very helpful , fast check in so we no need wait a minute more. The bed are comfort enough ! Very environmental friendly hotel. Everything are clean n great . Heater was fast enough to heat.
Nice and clean hotel close to the city center”
The hotel is a great choice for your stay in Kota Kinabalu. The staff is exceptionally friendly. When we wanted to check-in but the walk-in rate was more expensive than the agoda rate they gave us the wifi passcode to book online via agoda to get the better rate. The restaurant is really modern and nice. It is maybe a little bit crowded and loud at breakfast time because there are many local families with children but it is still a nice atmosphere. The choices for breakfast is really good, the quality is average: Waffles, Egg Station, fresh fruits (papaya, water melon), juice, dim sum, etc., the rooms are really modern and clean, the bed is a little bit short for european standards. A little bit noisy but still OK.
Great all round stay”
I stayed at Palace hotel for 9 nights, the 3x daily shuttle bus drop off and pick up at convenient locations. Location to the city is not too far, 15 minutes walk depending on where you want to go. My favourite thing about hotel was good choice of buffet breakfast, worth choosing this because there aren't many other choices in the area. Great staff, a man at the pool helped me find liquor shop. It was also great to see hotel environmental policy was highly regarded, and the hotel participates in many community events. The hotel grounds are quite spacious, with a nice garden but many mosquito however the hotel provided free insect repellent.
Definitely will be back to Palace Hotel again! ”
Palace hotel is my daughter's favourite hotel in KK because of its castle design making her feel like a princess. But this is not the only reason why it's our top choice to stay when visit KK. The room is spacious and clean. It has its own parking space. It's located in a quiet area yet not too far from the city if you have your own trnasport. Even if you are not driving, shuttle is available to major shopping places. The only Minus side is that the air cond is quite noisy. The breakfast has wide variety of international food. I am definitely coming back to this hotel during my next visit.
Luxurious Hotel at an Affordable Cost”
The moment I set my foot at Palace Hotel, I got the feeling I made the right choice of booking my room reservation in this hotel. The hotel offers a luxurious accommodation without hurting your pocket. I enjoyed the hydraulic massage in the pool.It was soothing. The water was warm & I love the scenery.. mountain & trees. The hotel is also equipped with gym facilities, spa, sauna / steam, lounge / bar, resto, souvenir shop, etc. Each room is supplied with hair dryer, LCD TV, tea-making facilities, mini-ref and security vault. It just got everything you need! It's so relaxing and perfect for a stress-free vacation. Overall, it's an awesome place! Glad I've made the right choice! I'm definitely coming back.. =)
value for money”
value for money at the palace hotel. the hotel is quaint and very nicely situated. they offer free internet and the pool and gym was fantastic. the buffet was great..... i would recommend this hotel for it is moderately priced and the people manning this is super friendly and very service oriented. I would go back to this hotel again. how i wish they had shuttle service to the airport though.
very worth to stay in this hotel. ”
My past experience to stay in The Palace Hotel. And every time i go Kota Kinabalu i will choose this hotel.
value for money”
definately value for money.Standing majestically on a hilltop, surrounded by dense vegetation, The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu greets its guests with its striking, all-white, palace-like exterior. Having recently undergone an extensive makeover, the hotel now features a fresh new contemporary look, with improved accommodation and facilities. Intimate yet highly accessible, it combines the privacy of a secluded location with the convenience of being just a few minutes away from the city centre. Blending classic architecture with stylish interior and all-modern conveniences, The Palace Hotel also has comprehensive meeting and conference facilities, as well as a variety of recreational facilities including a gym, a spa, a sauna and steam room, an outdoor swimming pool, a coffeehouse, a karaoke lounge and a Jacuzzi.
Very cheap and great room”
Is one of the best hotels in Kota Kinabalu. this position is located in the hills surrounding circumstances that really gives peace of vehicle noise. It was so exciting for me and I want to come here if there is time yet.
Nice, modern decor with good service”
I loved how the room was spacious and most importantly clean so my baby could roam free on all fours exploring it :) it was a shame though that we were put on the 1st floor as there was no view at all. Breakfast was not bad - not that big a spread but it was enough to fill our hungry tummies. Service was good - I especially loved how the receptionist, Kay was very attentive and helpful. This would be the perfect place to stay in Kota Kinabalu if you want a good hotel without having to break your bank ;)
Not a ton of amenities, but very cheap”
we stayed here the night before we left to climb mt. kinabalu and it was perfect for that. we choose to go to a resort after the climb. the palace hotel was nice, cheap, and clean. the rooms weren't anything special, but you can't expect much when you only pay sgd per night. make sure you ask specifically for queen/double bed or otherwise you will get two singles!
