Handy for Airport and Beach”
Swimming Pool on roof
entirely suitable mid-range/budget place on the 'negombo strip' with good wi-fi and poor breakfast. having seen some reviews about bed-bugs, there was no problem with room 106 for us, and mozzies didn't get through net.

Average hotel with poor service”
Cheap price is the only best thing of this hotel
We are senior citizens and were staying in a standard room for a night only since we have to move towards kandy next morning ! The hotel is average and the manager on the reception take too long to honour our booking since he was not aware of our booking through agoda ! The worst part of this hotel is there is no elevator in the hotel,we have to fetch our luggage on 3rd floor and there was no bell boy to help us out !The hotel don't have their restaurant also as a result we have to go outside to find out food for us after arrival at 9 p.m ! In restaurant while having dinner,we have to eat fast since all hotels/restaurants gets closed at about 10.30 p.m.! The morning breakfast was also not worth to have ! In short, don't stay in this hotel for a night also otherwise, you will be completely exhausted !

Great Hotel”
big spacious rooms, swimming pool
Our stay at Palace hotel was lovely. Thw hotel is on a busy street so close to shops, pubs and resturaant. The staff are really friendly and so helpful and would go out of there way to help you. The bedrooms are nice and big and clean. The rooftop swimming pool is great for evening swim. The only think i wouls recommand is that they showed have a menu with set prices on it for food, as i got tea and charged two different prices

Handy location close to restaurants”
Pool on the roof
I spend about 6 months of the year in Sri Lanka so I am used to the various standards of hotels. When I booked this hotel I checked the description to make sure that the rooms had A/C, Balcony and TV. The A/C was ok but it took 3 room changes before I got one with a tv that worked properly. As for the balcony none of their rooms have balconies despite the fact that their advert said they did. The room that I finally had was generally the best of the three but it was only average for hotels of this price (and I got it as a deal). The one really nice thing about this hotel was the rooftop swimming pool, not over large but adequate, and the seating area around the pool. The rooftop is higher than the other buildings in the area so a great view around. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food except breakfast which was rather sparse by Sri Lankan standards. My verdict - I would not go there again.

Friendly budget hotel with pool and wifi”
Top floor pool and sun loungers, friendly service
So often you see people writing reviews for two star hotels based on the expectation of five star service- if you want to ensure you won’t see any insects or a little dirt in your room, stay in a five star hotel (thats a reference to other reviews NOT my experience!). For a two star hotel at this price range, the Palace is perfect- expect slightly mis-matching furniture, large rooms with AC and ensuite bathrooms that are pretty clean (even shampoo and soap provided). Perhaps isn’t quite as nice as the pictures convey, but the top floor is amazing with the pool and sun loungers- something more akin to a four or five star hotel. The staff are very helpful, decent wifi downstairs, reasonable breakfast (pretty rank coffee but yet to have a good coffee at a hotel in Sri Lanka). If you are looking for a decent budget hotel as a stopover thats close to beach and restaurants- the Palace is perfect.

Quirky hotel with character”
warm staff, big rooms with character
This hotel is definitely worth the money. It is a quirky old building with interesting, big rooms (we even had a bath tub!), lovely rooftop pool and friendly management. We enjoyed it so much we will be staying there again this week!

Awful place with old and smelly furniture. ”
None
Had been there for two night, chosen this hotel due to the close location to tge airport. Photos on the webite were promising, but reality was terrible. Dirty bathroom, smelly furniture, towels and blankets, awfull and lazy service, no wifi, A/C is not working. Tons of mosquitos. Huge disappointment.
