I stayed in 2 different rooms during my stay and both were clean and spacious. However, the male staff who checked me in at night was really rude. I couldn't really understand his English due to his strong accent and when I told him I didn't understand what he was saying, he just told me he couldn't help me if I can't understand him. That left a really bitter aftertaste for the rest of my stay here. There were also quite a lot of mosquitos around the entire property too, even in the rooms!
Value for money-look no further ”
My wife and I are frequent travellers to Thailand, travelling here at least once a year for the last 6-7 years and The Palmery has to be one of the best value for money resorts we have stayed in, and we have stayed in a few. Check in was simple. The pool access rooms are great. Large bright and airy and the pool was clean and clear. Due to the size of the pools, they service 5 rooms, the water does get quite warm with Thailand's beautiful warm weather but is cooler first thing in the morning and later in the evening. We were in room 2102 and with the position of the sun we had some good shade on our deck during the day while some other rooms had the intense heat of the sun on their decks most of the day so take your pick when booking....sun or shade. Our cleaner was a lovely young lady and did a fantastic job of keeping our room serviced to a high standard each day. Unfortunately we did not catch her name. We used the gym during our stay and while it is modest, it does what a gym is supposed to do with a few machines, 2 treadmills and a walker as well as some free weights and weight bench’s. You will need to take a towel and some water though as neither are provided in the gym itself. The breakfast had a good selection to choose from....pastries, salads, egg station, cereals, juices, soup, fruit, yogurt and a selection of hot dishes, which changed daily so good variety. Staff in the restaurant were courteous and polite. A particular mention to Fou, a lovely little thai lady who always greeted us each morning with a smile. The resort offers a free shuttle service down to Kata beach and Karon beach each day and leaves hourly, last one at 6pm. Again, a particular mention to Bird, always greeted with a smile and a genuine interest in the visitors, asking questions and building rapport. Only criticism I have during our stay is that the reception staff could have been friendlier. This doesn’t mean they weren’t, they engaged with us during the check in and check
Miserable place to stay”
Haven’t spent a few days there, I understand why the staff never smiles. It’s crap. The breakfast is disgusting, the gym looks like something you’d see in a prison and like I said, the staff is miserable. Avoid.
Good with some exceptions”
In my stay I hd two different rooms. I added some nights to my stay and had booked a different category than before, but for the same price, but they did not want to negotiate that I can stay in my room, nit even for paying the difference. They were just unwilling to do that even though there were free rooms. So I had to move. The main differences were: in the first room the A/C did not work, in the second it worked very well. First room was full of light, second room was rather dark and there did not get any sun inside. Other facilities were more or less the same but looked completely different in both rooms. The housekeeping stuff and the guards from the parking areas were the friendliest! Result: If you book this hotel, look carefully on the view from the window you book otherwise you have a dark room. Neverless, the pools were very good and usable all day and night.
Had a swim up room well worth the extra money most people went to the beach etc every day so most of the time had the pool to ourselves the hotel itself is situated at the quieter end of the resort but only 5/10 mins walk to the beach or about 5 pounds in a taxi to the main bars and restaurants there are still plenty or bars and places to eat nearby
Hotel is Nice quite place for a relaxing vocation. Dipping into pool to beat afternoon heat. Was perfect. Daily buffet was standard, fresh and area are clean. Beach is within. 10mins on tuktuk. Hourly shuttle between beach and hotel.
Beautiful resort. We got the deluxe pool access room and it was worth it! We shared the pool with a couple other rooms but we pretty much had the pool to ourselves most of the time. The room was very clean and spacious, bath tub is big with a separate shower, the only problem was that it took awhile for the water heater to work and the aircon can be a little too cold for us at night but you could always just turn it off easily. The resort provides free shuttle busses to karon and kata beach at certain timings ( do take note of the timing because we ended up waiting for more than an hour for one at kata beach ). Also, the food we ordered from the room was surprisingly good. Overall, I love this resort and would love to come back again!
Lovely stay at The Palmery. Our first stay in Thailand and found it a bit of a culture shock. The hotel however was lovely. Loved the pool walk up rooms. Probably won’t return to Kata but if I did, I would stay here
The Palmery Resort”
Rooms were a great size but lacked drawer space and were looking a little tired. However, it looked like the hotel had a good update maintenance programme in place. The hotel was advertised as The Palmery Resort and Spa although it no longer had a spa. This did not affect our stay but the hotel need to revamp it’s advertising accordingly. The bar was only open until 7.00pm and room service until 9.00pm which we thought a little early. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Absolutely perfect stay - beware of mosquitos with young kids ”
First impressions are great! Lovely clean lobby, friendly staff, welcome drinks. We arrived at 11am and check in wasn’t until 2 so we left our bags and went for a wander and lunch into Kata. An easy 10 minute walk (with a pushchair!) right into the heart of kata and toward the left side of the beach. The pool access suite room was stunning & worth the money. Big room and bathroom opens into a big outdoor living room then a sun lounging deck and then a garden and then the pool! Perfect for kids (we had our 14 month old who loved it) Mini bar is even a decent price but there are family Marts very close by to stock up on. The breakfast is fab with a good range local and western dishes and plenty of tables. The hourly private bus into kata and Karon beach is great Only downside are mosquitos. We didn’t get bit as they had big mosquito nets surrounding the main bed but our toddler got bitten to death, no matter what we did because there is no mosquito net over the cot.
I cannot point a finger at anything. Staff 1st class, friendly, smiling, curtious. That is everyone from reception, chef, waiters, cleaners and the poolman. Location. Long walk to the beach, BUT, free shuttle bus every hour to the beach with return as well. Hotel. Modern, high ceilings, alfresco dining, nice decorations. Breakfast buffet. Absolutely fantastic. The "hot" food is actually HOT at 8 am This is an absolute first for me in Asia. The selection is for everyones taste, western and asian. The hot Thai dishes are to die for AT BREAKFAST!!! Rooms. Our superior poolview with balcony is HUGE , super clean, lovely aircon. Perfect position in te room Absolutely everything you need in the bathroom. Non slip tiles in shower cabin. I mean NON slip. No water escapes the shower cabin. Instant hot water. Pool towels provided. Full length bath. Umbrellas provided for outdoor walk to reception/restaurant. No neighbor noise from beside or above us. So lovely and quiet . Good wifi.
clean, quiet, convenient resort”
i love that the resort is clean and room is spacious. friendly and polite staff. resort is about 15mins away from kata beach on foot and less than 5mins away by the free shuttle service provided by the resort. shuttle bus also takes u to a further beach, karon beach. either beach has lots of fun water sports. there are many nice small eateries just right outside the resort. quiet place yet very convenient. highly recommend.
Great value hotel”
The Palmery is an excellent hotel for the price. Breakfast is generous, with hot dishes varied every day. Most needs are catered for, and the staff are absolutely lovely. The rooms are generous and quiet, and the standard of cleanliness is very high. There are many local restaurants within the vicinity, and several smaller grocery stores in a good location, with the beach is only a 10 minute walk away. The actual hotel is surrounded by beautiful jungle and hills, with a good view of the big Buddha’s head and shoulders. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks here at the Palmery, and would highly recommend it to others.
We had fruitful time spending 2 days and 1 night at Kata Beach. It is very recommended if you wish to have a slow pace vacation. The environment is more comfortable than Patong Beach as Patong is more for alcohol drinking place. The hotel offers shuttle service to Kata and Karon beach hourly so transportation is not a problem. In addition, they do offers taxi to airport at THB 1,000 per car which I think it is reasonable. Facilities are great. I will choose Palmery Resort again if I have chance to travel to Phuket again. =)
Great experience, comfortable stay”
We travelled with 6 adults and a 10 month old baby. We got the deluxe pool access room. Room was clean and cozy. Pool was clean and well maintained. The staff speak good English. Great experience with the staff who were very helpful especially in arranging for the city tour. Walkable distance to the beach. Easily accessible to convenient stores, restaurants, cafes and etc
Stay at Palmery Resort at Phuket”
Value for money. Good price for pool access room. Beautiful and well maintained place. Decent breakfast. The Wi-Fi is really good. The place is a bit if a drive from Kata beach but those with a vehicle not a problem. Parking for car and bikes available.
Everything was great. Had a great stay only problem was location was further from main attractions places which cost us a lot. Overall hotel experience was great, friendly staff and breakfast was good.
Quiet and comfortable”
we were a group of 7, so we had 5 pool access rooms and as we were going through the booking process with agoda i made a special request that we stay in rooms close to each other. well the staff were able to put us all in the same building so we had an entire pool to ourselves. As we have stayed here many times before and the staff are remembering us, we always feel very welcome. The cleaning staff are very competent and breakfast is varied each day. The location is a little way to walk to get to the main street of Kata beach but we always hire a motor scooter so the distance is quiet and not a problem. I would recommend the palmery.
value for money ”
The location is ok and the room is spacious. However there seems to be an influx of mosquitoes lurking in the property. Especially during the rainy season, the management may like to invest in some mosquitoes repelling devices tobwqrd off the mossies. Otherwise splendid stay.
The pool access is a plus to this room. The water however needs daily maintenance as there were many leaves floating in the water which adds to the unpleasant feel in the pool. The rooms were reasonably big wih nice decor . Good place for a hangout by the pool sun taming. Many eateries outside wih sone very good restaurants in the vicinity. Good place for tray. Will return to stay here in my next trip here
