Nice clean resort”
The staff were excellent polite and were very friendly. Our thanks to all the staff who made our stay such a pleasure and especially Mr. Mindika Ratnayake helped us with all the info. and attention . He arranged a special table on my wife's birthday and took trouble to personally serve us and the staff brought a birthday cake singing happy birthday to my wife. . Even the General Manager operations Mr . Rohan Gamage sent a personal birthday card to my wife.A Very personal touch and very much appreciated.Charitha and all the reception staff always smiling and friendly and the all the catering staff were very good to us. The chef came out to everyday to make sure that all was well. The variety of food was ample for vegetarian and non vegetarian. The always smiling spa girls were excellent in their massage. There was a variety of live band and music in the evening .The swimming pool was clean and the staff very helpful. The housekeeping staff was very efficient and kept our room very clean and tidy. The location of the resort is very peaceful by the clean beach with security fence around it. we will recommend this hotel and visit it again and again. To the all at Palms Beruwala thank you very much for making our stay there enjoyable . Manu and Veena Gohil .
Great hotel with fantastic staff”
I'm somewhat surprised with some of poor reviews this hotel as received. We booked the Palms for the Christmas and New Year Period, planning to move on to another area within Sri Lanka. However we were enjoying ourselves so much we rebooked and remained at the Palms for the rest of our holiday after going on a 2 day excursion trip to Kandy and the hills. We found the hotel clean, with beautiful gardens, a good pool, great location right on the beach and with some of the best staff we have ever met. Nothing was too much, from extra towels, moving our sunbeds away from the pool area, letting us eat late in the dining room and even arranging for us to have the same room after we had finished our original booking and coming back a day later. The breakfast and evening meals were of a very good standard with a variety of dishes to cater for all tastes. The Christmas and New Year evening dinners were absolutely fantastic with an amazing range of dishes and excellent quality. Staff within all areas, from the pool guys, the room boys, bar staff, dining staff and reception were all fantastic and very helpful. We had a fantastic holiday and loved Sri Lanka but what really made it for us was this hotel and its staff. We would not hestitate to recommend this to anyone and would defintely go back.
Best hotel in Beruwala!!”
We came to this hotel for our honeymoon. We stayed in lots of hotels in Sri Lanka for our trip and found this one to be the best!! The room was spacious, with nice fixtures and fittings - everything in the room worked well. We were really impressed with the standard of the bathroom. We visited the other hotels along Beruwala beach too and still thought we had the best hotel. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sri Lanka as the service was so good. The Al-a-carte menu was overpriced and the food quality was very poor, the buffet was a whole lot better with lots of options (although most of them were quite spicy) but none of that mattered as there were so many restaurants to choose from in town which were very cheap and the food was amazing! The road up to the hotel is quite bumpy as it is not very well maintained. A Tuk Tuk ride into town cost Rs200 (from outside the front of the hotel). If you get a Tuk Tuk from the beach it will cost you Rs100 but they will try and take you to Gem shops, temples etc.
Loved our stay at The Palms”
We were so pleased to have chosen The Palms Beruwela. It was our family vacation and this hotel had something for all of us. The setting was beautiful and well maintained, staff were friendly and so helpful, the food was very good and catered to all tastes. The menu changed daily and Sri Lankan specialities were always on offer. We had two connecting rooms and enjoyed the views from our balconies, pool and beach vistas couldn't be beat. The only real negative for us was the window from the bathroom into the bedroom, we found this odd and unnecessary. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean, rain shower in the bathroom was wonderful. Staff always had time to chat and answer questions or offer touring suggestions. They also provided first aid supplies when we needed them. There were several tuk tuks with drivers at the main gate to hire, very useful and fun way to get around. I would definitely suggest this hotel to vacationing families.
Good beach facing hotel”
The road to the hotel is pretty narrow. Its like 600 meters from the main road. Once you reach the hotel you can see its a huge and beautiful property. Beautiful green gardens with shaded walkways and water features filled with fish. The check in was quick. The room and toilet are average size and clean. The TV is a joke at 19 inch LCD with 5 or 6 channels. The water in the bathroom were salty. so after showers were never fresh. My body still felt greasy. Ours was a double room and two single beds were joined which were always moving and uncomfortable. The swimming pool was nice without much chlorine. Breakfast was good with both local and continental varieties. The sea near the hotel was beautiful. I think the lunch and buffet dinner was priced at 2000 SLR. I didn't try the buffet but went alacarte which were good. I think all the rooms have views of the sea but try getting a room on the higher floors. I recommend this hotel if you are staying in Beruwala. It was much better than the other much expensive hotels I stayed in Sri Lanka.
Good resort, Nice staff”
We were two couples with a kid, and were provided adjacent rooms as requested. The Palms Beruwala was a nice resort located right at the beach. Our room was facing the ocean, however there were many coconut trees which blocked most of the view. I recommend asking for the rooms on highest floor (3). We were two couples with a kid, and were provided adjacent rooms as requested. There are multiple restaurants, however, if you are a vegetarian like me, you would have difficulty choosing what to have.

Lovely Hotel”
We stayed in Palms hotel for 2 nights and it was absolutely nice. Staffs are very polite and welcoming. Rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel is situated next to a great beach which is clean and less wavy. Pros are that insects keep coming to the room at night. May be that we stayed on the ground floor room. They are harmless (not mosquitoes) but some times annoying. One odd thing is about the locals as they started unwanted conversation while heavily drugged and drunk with us. May be the fact that I’m being Tamil (native Srilankan but brought up in the UK) and wanted to show the typical Singhalese mentality to us. The staffs at the restaurant (Sasica) turned blind eye on this but when I took the phone to call the police they quickly backed. This happened only one night.
Very good”
The Palms Hotel Beruwala is a good place to stay , with private beach , good breakfast and restaurant , friendly staff , good pool and good bar prices.
Great location, nice hotel but very slow service ”
our stay in palms beruwala was pretty good. the hotel is ideally located on the beach and has a great view from the room. the rooms are clean, spacious and contain all basic necessities. the swimming pool is massive and can accommodate several swimmers at the same time. the staff is friendly and ready to help. there are several animals in the compound including squirrels and iguana 's. if you are lucky, you could have squirrels walk past your gallery play around.
Great Location and Nice Hotel ”
first of all i would like to mention that bentota city its divided into different beaches closed to gather and the most famous beach its “bentota beach” but this hotel its located in beruwala beach!!! its exactly next to bentota beach. the hotel very nice and all the staff it’s so friendly and helpful, very good room standard and all the facilities available in this hotel such as pools, gym, spa and very testy restaurant but my highlighted comment its regarding the cost of this hotel per night little expensive because you can find same facilitates and location with less rate.
Amazing hotel, super relaxing!”
We stayed at The Palms for 6 nights over Christmas. The pool was great and the beach was lovely. All rooms have pool and sea views which were lovely. We felt so relaxed from the moment we arrived. There is not much else to do around the area so def a good place if u want a resort holiday. The town in a 45 mins walk away! The Christmas Gala dinner was fantastic and food on the buffet was also good. The only negative was the slow service as it sometimes took 30 mins for a drink to be served but we loved everything else.
Enjoyable & relaxing”
Good: One of the better resorts in Bentota, the Palms had it all! Its a massive property, with great views of the ocean and a great beach to walk out of the hotel onto (it is a public beach however). The pool is lovely too. They had live entertainment on one of the evenings, which was quite enjoyable. The staff is friendly and skilled. Location is key. Not-so-good: Room service options are limited and exorbitantly expensive. Whatever discount you receive on the stay, if more than made up if you order in or eat at their restaurants But nothing can beat the location, bang on the beach.
Amazing gardens, fireflies and lena - an oasis”
We stayed in January and were amazed by Sri Lanka and the Palms was our base. The gardens are beautiful (look for fireflies at night and Lena - the little squirrels) and peaceful. The staff were really friendly to us and we have no complaints at all about the service. I imagine if you were rude and bossy they wouldn't be so responsive - maybe that explains some of the other negative reviews here - but everyone was happy to talk and very interested in us and what we were doing. We loved the food but we ate the Sri Lankan food all the time - it was great. Highlight was the Kottu Roti and the hoppers which they did on the night before we left. Each night there was 4 or 5 sambals and pickles. We were eating curries for breakfast by the end. The room was really nice and spacious and when the beds were made in the morning there were frangipani petals on the sheets. Bottled water was left in the room each day (free). The bar was nice (a greater variety of Sri-lankan beers would be good) and we had lots of nice cocktails - try the Arrack special or a King Coconut. A snake charmer was organised for one of the nights. The pool is nice and beach is warm and had good waves to play in. Sunset was awesome. We made friends with some guys out on the beach who drove us around in Tuk Tuk's and showed us lots of things and made the whole chaotic place more understandable. We were even invited home to meet one blokes family and invited in for tea. Tuk-tuk and getting out and about is what made it all so special. There are some really nice restaurants and shops just along the beach too. There were some works going on while we were there but this caused us no great problems.
Great hotel in a quiet location”
They were putting the finishing touches to the refurbishment when we arrived so we got a great deal. I'm not sure what price the hotel will be once the refurbishment is finished. The hotel is beautiful now. It is set in a very quiet spot and if you chose not to eat in the hotel then you'll need to take a tut tut from the gate to Bentota (about 300rps).
A Garden paradise on the beach”
The hotel is set in a very large garden and once you are thorough to the main reception you can see the pool with a back drop to the ocean/beach. There are water ppols everywhere and lots of beautiful flora to admire. Overall it is very pleasant environment and the rooms are adequate for a couple. The shower (rainfall) is a treasure with both of us girls being guilty of extra long showers because it was soooo nice. Beds were very comfortable too. The squirrels on the balcony are quite cheeky and look for food every morning. The breakfast buffet was good for all of us (we traveled in a group of 4 - with 2 very picky eaters) and we left satisfied every morning. The restaurant staff are very helpful and most friendly pampering us each day. Seafood restaurant was excellent too it is next to the pool down near the beach and we really felt we had good value for money, although service was a bit too slow - then again we were the only customers and it was getting late, so most likely our own fault. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a little bit of affordable paradise in a serene location of garden and beach. Over the 4 properties stayed at across this trip to Sri Lanka it was the best.
Great hotel and nice staff”
Booked for two nights. Really nice room and pool was really warm. Located right on the beach although the sea is rough so wouldn’t recommend swimming. Paid £120 for two nights with breakfast which I thought was fair given we had a good time. There was a table tennis and pool table, but the hotel could offer a couple more activities like board games, table football if you’re staying in the hotel and relaxing as we did. Breakfast buffet was ok, could have a few more options, but nice. We went to the cinnamon bay hotel for dinner buffet (2600 rupees) which I would recommend. Over all would definitely stay again and the staff were great.
Lovely hotel but felt a little remote...”
we had a lovely time at the palms. beautiful ocean view, clean and spacious rooms and some charming architecture. our only criticisms are that the manager was quite passive aggressive and made it clear she was not happy about us eating food not purchased on the premises in our room. we thought this was a bit ridiculous given that we had paid hundreds of pounds for our stay and had eaten many times in the palms restaurants. in addition, the location is a little remote. the closest town (aluthgama) is very sparse and most of the tourist-friendly restaurants/shops on the beach were closed (as we were visiting off-season).
Amazing location, excellent food, warm staff”
location: hotel's location is amazing - beachfront. it has everything that you generally get in a european beachfront hotel. pool attendant is very attentive and arranges a lounger for you with smile. food: breakfast has both srilankan and english b/f options. fresh omelettes made to your specification (egg-white in my case :-)). they keep changing srilankan b/f menu to add different varieties. dinner buffet has lot of international variation. there is a separate dessert buffet. in 4 days we stayed, we had - hummus, pasta, thai noddles, curries, different puddings, creme brule, etc. (we are vegetarian, butcould see that there were loads of options for meat and sea food) gym - this is one thing that disappointment. ac was not working, so it was like oven. only 1 dumble (not a pair), should have drinking water and towel in the gym.
Big comfortable hotel to have a beach rest”
Quite big hotel with lots of package tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Germany, etc. Staff was always helpfull and ready to assist you with anything. There were different events every evening (live music, cobra busters, folk dances). Were fully satisfied with breakfasts there. There is nothing to do outside of the hotel in evenings, beside several poor cafes nearby. To learn local nature you can take a river tour, but be carefull, it seemed for us as if all those guys who organize such trips want you to buy either ayurveda or jewellery stuff with 'tourist' price, which is way too high.
