The staff was very helpful and welcoming! Joe at the front desk had a delicious cake sent up to our room for my birthday! The room is beautiful! I love that you can wake up to a nice view. I did wish it had a bathtub but it was awesome nonetheless. The bed was very comfortable. We did call for complimentary toothpaste which they were quick to deliver. I loved how the everything in the room was controlled through the telephone! We got to go for a swim in the pool which was large well equipped with all you need. We didn’t leave the hotel to eat. We had room service for dinner and breakfast- both cooked to perfection! My husband is very picky with his food and he was impressed with both meals. Its a great location too. The is a shopping mall underneath the hotel, the subway train is right next to it, and the palace is just across the street. I highly recommend a stay at The Plaza!

Very helpful & nice staff but the room was too small”
We stayed in a deluxe twin room with club lounge access. The room was too small that my daughter and I had to take turns in opening our luggage. Breakfast at the club lounge was not good. Considering that this is supposed to be a 5-star luxury hotel, the breakfast should really be improved. We've stayed at some other Marriott hotels before and the breakfast at the club lounge was really good. I am giving this a rating of 3 only because the staff were really nice and helpful. Otherwise, the rating would have been lower.

5 star stay in the centre of Seoul”
We chose the Plaza for its location in downtown Seoul, a short walk to all the shopping and restaurants in and around Myeong-dong. We took the train from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station and then its one or two more stops to City Hall station pretty much directly opposite the hotel. The airport limosine bus also stops here. We received a warm welcome and excellent service from all the staff at The Plaza. Our room was small but well laid out with lots of cool high-tech buttons to play with. We had a view over City Hall which was fabulous, and the bed was super comfy. The dining options here seem excruciatingly expensive, but there are so many places nearby to eat it didn't matter to us. We would defitinely stay here again if we find ourselves needing a bit of extra comfort in Seoul.

The Plaza Hotel”
I pass through Seoul a lot and usually go down the traditional guesthouse route but due to our usual haunts being booked up, my gentleman and I decided to treat ourselves and stay at the Plaza. Overall we were very impressed. The hotel is huge and in a very central location (which is a welcome relief to anyone who's attempted to direct a taxi driver around Myeong-dong in the dark) and the staff were very friendly and polite, and spoke immaculate English. For me the real highlight was the room itself: amazing view (ours had Gyeongbokgung in it), imaginative layout (bed in the centre . . . quirky. I liked it) and an incredible shower. I'll be returning to the Plaza very soon and have a feeling it could become my regular hotel for sleepovers in Seoul.

GREAT LOCATION AND SERVICE”
The Seoul Plaza has always been my favorite hotel in Seoul because of its unique, central location and because of the thorough attentiveness and professionalism of its staff. It is a great hotel. However, the hotel's central location also comes with a drawback over which the hotel exercises no control. The hotel faces directly onto the City Hall Plaza, which is a center for both cultural and political activity. At times this activity -- political activity especially -- can be quite noisy for those in rooms on the north side of the hotel, facing up Taepyongno toward Gyeongbokgung Palace. During my most recent stay there were two occasions in which political activists employed very loud sound systems. The back (south) side of the hotel is quieter, but also less attractive. The hotel has recently undergone a major renovation, and is now one of the most "hi tech" hotels in Asia. However, the renovation evidently did not include installation of hi-tech sound-proof windows in all of the rooms, which is a shame. Bottom line: I will still stay at the Plaza, but there may be some guests who will find the occasional disturbance to their peace to be more than they really want to deal with.

Great location with friendly staff”
We visited Seoul for the first time and therefore prefer a hotel which is easy to locate and get around every where. Plaza didn't disappoint us. It's location is great - not inside the noisy Myeong-dong area but it is within walkable distance by underground shopping corridor. We found that it's also close to the Art Museum and Namdamun. We took airport bus and got to the entrance of the hotel hassle free. Staff are all very helpful and nice. They gave us good recommendation on restaurants and even helped us looked for church for Easter service. The rates are quite expensive as it's Easter time. Good city view facing a green plaza in front of the City Hall. But the room is rather small and the bed is located at the middle of the room. I found it a little bit inconvenient without a sofa. I don't like to control panel which is not sensitive enough and sometimes had to press a few times to turn on and off the lights. It's light also disturbed my sleep at night so I had to cover the control panel with a towel or a card. It also surprised us that the swimming pool and gym are actually located at the annex building next to the main building. Guests have to cross a street to get to the annex building, quite inconvenient and we didn't actually go to see the annex building as it's cold during our visit.

Boutique hotel in a lovely location”
i had indicated to the hotel that i would be arriving early, and was pleasantly surprised when i was told my room was ready before the official check-in time. thumbs up. as previous reviewers had indicated, the room though small, was nice and cosy for a solo traveller and had some of the most high tech installations that i fully appreciated. housekeeping was exemplary, and i was never short of the lovely molten brown toiletries. appreciated the hotel's thoughtfulness to supply earplugs. while i was given a non-plaza facing room, the hotel is afterall located at the crossroads of several major roads, and traffic noise was audible from my 6th floor room. as i was in seoul for leisure, i was delighted with the hotel's excellent location. using the sogong underground pass, one is connected to myeongdong and nandaemun, and a little further away, namsan. sejong-ro which leads to gyeongbok palace is a mere 15mins leisurely walk away, and i found stolling to insadong and bukchon under the clear autumn skies (30mins) a wonderful experience. a top notch boutique hotel that i would not hesitate to book again when i am back in seoul.

Excellent ubication and staff were really helpful ”
Our stay in this hotel for 5 days was just awesome. My friend wanted a hotel which could have a nice design and a great location.... I was thinking between The Plaza Hotel and the Lotte Hotel since both were in Myeng-dong area. I finally decided this one because of the design and how great reviews it had from Agoda. Even though we booked 2 superior rooms, we had a free upgrade to deluxe rooms (the ones where you can see the skyline of Myeng-dong, the superior ones are just in the back and the views are not that nice). The buffet and the dining restaurants in the hotel were rather great but in my opinion a little bit pricey. Breakfast buffet was around 30-35 euro per person and the restaurant a little bit more depending on which one you choose (there was a Chinese, Japanese and Italian restaurant). Room was clean and staff were helpful in every single moment. It had automatic open and close curtains function, toilet bidet combo and nice light ambient. Almost every control could be done with the "remote phone controller".

Best value I found in Seoul”
As a mummy traveling with young kids, I was set on finding a hotel which has spacious rooms and even better, an affordable suite with a separate living area so that hubby and I didn't hv to sit in darkness after the kids slept. I did a thorough search and no other hotel could offer me what The Plaza could! We snagged a suite which has a kind bed in one room and the livng area and wardrobe in another room. It wasn't big but it was new and very comfortable. Having the suite at almost the price of a room in many of the big name hotels was one of the best things in our Seoul stay! We enjoyed many couple moments and family moments, and I was able to pack, watch tv and surf the net and eat supper with the kids asleep in the other room. The door between the room n living area was very sound proof and that was another bonus. Another great thing is that the hotel is we connected underground, which was impt as it was sub-zero during our stay. We could just go to the basement of the hotel which leads to an underground mall with eateries, shops and nail parlours (!!!) and that leads us to Lotte mall as well as Myeongdong! It was also within walking distance (above ground and outside) to many eateries, two palaces, Namdaemon, the Seoul Museum of Art, a church with English services where we attended our Christmas Eve service, and we even walked to Seoul Station! The only small thing that was lacking was that the hotel did not provide shower gel. There was Hermes (!!!) shampoo and conditioner and lotion but just no shower gel which was odd. I also had to ask for a hot water flask to boil water. Oh but their saving grace was the nespresso machine with three pods daily! I'd definitely choose to stay at The Plaza again when I visit Seoul in future!
