5 star stay in the centre of Seoul”

Service, comfort, location

We chose the Plaza for its location in downtown Seoul, a short walk to all the shopping and restaurants in and around Myeong-dong. We took the train from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station and then its one or two more stops to City Hall station pretty much directly opposite the hotel. The airport limosine bus also stops here. We received a warm welcome and excellent service from all the staff at The Plaza. Our room was small but well laid out with lots of cool high-tech buttons to play with. We had a view over City Hall which was fabulous, and the bed was super comfy. The dining options here seem excruciatingly expensive, but there are so many places nearby to eat it didn't matter to us. We would defitinely stay here again if we find ourselves needing a bit of extra comfort in Seoul.

The Plaza Hotel”

Beautiful room, friendly staff, great location in Seoul

I pass through Seoul a lot and usually go down the traditional guesthouse route but due to our usual haunts being booked up, my gentleman and I decided to treat ourselves and stay at the Plaza. Overall we were very impressed. The hotel is huge and in a very central location (which is a welcome relief to anyone who's attempted to direct a taxi driver around Myeong-dong in the dark) and the staff were very friendly and polite, and spoke immaculate English. For me the real highlight was the room itself: amazing view (ours had Gyeongbokgung in it), imaginative layout (bed in the centre . . . quirky. I liked it) and an incredible shower. I'll be returning to the Plaza very soon and have a feeling it could become my regular hotel for sleepovers in Seoul.

GREAT LOCATION AND SERVICE”

One of the best located hotels in Seoul, with easy indoor access to the City Hall Metro station. Great, friendly service. Hi-tech rooms that set a new standard in the industry.

The Seoul Plaza has always been my favorite hotel in Seoul because of its unique, central location and because of the thorough attentiveness and professionalism of its staff. It is a great hotel. However, the hotel's central location also comes with a drawback over which the hotel exercises no control. The hotel faces directly onto the City Hall Plaza, which is a center for both cultural and political activity. At times this activity -- political activity especially -- can be quite noisy for those in rooms on the north side of the hotel, facing up Taepyongno toward Gyeongbokgung Palace. During my most recent stay there were two occasions in which political activists employed very loud sound systems. The back (south) side of the hotel is quieter, but also less attractive. The hotel has recently undergone a major renovation, and is now one of the most "hi tech" hotels in Asia. However, the renovation evidently did not include installation of hi-tech sound-proof windows in all of the rooms, which is a shame. Bottom line: I will still stay at the Plaza, but there may be some guests who will find the occasional disturbance to their peace to be more than they really want to deal with.

Great location with friendly staff”

Very close to City Hall station and convenient to take subway or even walk to tourist attractions

We visited Seoul for the first time and therefore prefer a hotel which is easy to locate and get around every where. Plaza didn't disappoint us. It's location is great - not inside the noisy Myeong-dong area but it is within walkable distance by underground shopping corridor. We found that it's also close to the Art Museum and Namdamun. We took airport bus and got to the entrance of the hotel hassle free. Staff are all very helpful and nice. They gave us good recommendation on restaurants and even helped us looked for church for Easter service. The rates are quite expensive as it's Easter time. Good city view facing a green plaza in front of the City Hall. But the room is rather small and the bed is located at the middle of the room. I found it a little bit inconvenient without a sofa. I don't like to control panel which is not sensitive enough and sometimes had to press a few times to turn on and off the lights. It's light also disturbed my sleep at night so I had to cover the control panel with a towel or a card. It also surprised us that the swimming pool and gym are actually located at the annex building next to the main building. Guests have to cross a street to get to the annex building, quite inconvenient and we didn't actually go to see the annex building as it's cold during our visit.

Boutique hotel in a lovely location”

Location!

i had indicated to the hotel that i would be arriving early, and was pleasantly surprised when i was told my room was ready before the official check-in time. thumbs up. as previous reviewers had indicated, the room though small, was nice and cosy for a solo traveller and had some of the most high tech installations that i fully appreciated. housekeeping was exemplary, and i was never short of the lovely molten brown toiletries. appreciated the hotel's thoughtfulness to supply earplugs. while i was given a non-plaza facing room, the hotel is afterall located at the crossroads of several major roads, and traffic noise was audible from my 6th floor room. as i was in seoul for leisure, i was delighted with the hotel's excellent location. using the sogong underground pass, one is connected to myeongdong and nandaemun, and a little further away, namsan. sejong-ro which leads to gyeongbok palace is a mere 15mins leisurely walk away, and i found stolling to insadong and bukchon under the clear autumn skies (30mins) a wonderful experience. a top notch boutique hotel that i would not hesitate to book again when i am back in seoul.

Excellent ubication and staff were really helpful ”

Location (right from the number 6 exit from City Hall Station, Lines 1 and 2). The view from the rooms were also fantastic. Room's design, so warm and well equipped with all the technology you wold expect.

Our stay in this hotel for 5 days was just awesome. My friend wanted a hotel which could have a nice design and a great location.... I was thinking between The Plaza Hotel and the Lotte Hotel since both were in Myeng-dong area. I finally decided this one because of the design and how great reviews it had from Agoda. Even though we booked 2 superior rooms, we had a free upgrade to deluxe rooms (the ones where you can see the skyline of Myeng-dong, the superior ones are just in the back and the views are not that nice). The buffet and the dining restaurants in the hotel were rather great but in my opinion a little bit pricey. Breakfast buffet was around 30-35 euro per person and the restaurant a little bit more depending on which one you choose (there was a Chinese, Japanese and Italian restaurant). Room was clean and staff were helpful in every single moment. It had automatic open and close curtains function, toilet bidet combo and nice light ambient. Almost every control could be done with the "remote phone controller".

Best value I found in Seoul”

The option of a suite at an excellent rate was the best value I could find in Seoul! The location was also excellent, being within walking distance to many places. The wifi was free n strong.

As a mummy traveling with young kids, I was set on finding a hotel which has spacious rooms and even better, an affordable suite with a separate living area so that hubby and I didn't hv to sit in darkness after the kids slept. I did a thorough search and no other hotel could offer me what The Plaza could! We snagged a suite which has a kind bed in one room and the livng area and wardrobe in another room. It wasn't big but it was new and very comfortable. Having the suite at almost the price of a room in many of the big name hotels was one of the best things in our Seoul stay! We enjoyed many couple moments and family moments, and I was able to pack, watch tv and surf the net and eat supper with the kids asleep in the other room. The door between the room n living area was very sound proof and that was another bonus. Another great thing is that the hotel is we connected underground, which was impt as it was sub-zero during our stay. We could just go to the basement of the hotel which leads to an underground mall with eateries, shops and nail parlours (!!!) and that leads us to Lotte mall as well as Myeongdong! It was also within walking distance (above ground and outside) to many eateries, two palaces, Namdaemon, the Seoul Museum of Art, a church with English services where we attended our Christmas Eve service, and we even walked to Seoul Station! The only small thing that was lacking was that the hotel did not provide shower gel. There was Hermes (!!!) shampoo and conditioner and lotion but just no shower gel which was odd. I also had to ask for a hot water flask to boil water. Oh but their saving grace was the nespresso machine with three pods daily! I'd definitely choose to stay at The Plaza again when I visit Seoul in future!

Great location but small rooms”

excellent location with very knowledgable concierge service. All service staffs are very friendly

I have enjoyed my stay in this hotel. All the staffs are very friendly and they can speak very good English. The location is very central and easily accessible by foot to Myeong Dong and Namdaemun. Many eateries around the corners. deoksugung palace is opposite the hotel and viewing of the changing of guards is something refreshing. My room faces the Seoul Square and i can view all the evening performances on the projected big screen. I also managed to catch the May day performance too.

Luxurious Hotel but not for light sleepers”

Deluxe room features and bathroom, convenient to underground

We stayed at the Plaza hotel on our final two nights in Seoul in a Premier Suite. The room size was great, with the sitting room convenient to host our family we were travelling with. The overall quality of the room finishing was of a very high standard, exceeding our expectations. The bathroom was sparkling with a full size bath and over size shower with Molton and Brown toiletries. Room service was the standard international 5 star rate, with mini bar prices also on par. For those on a budget seeking snacks and drinks, recommend buying on the street at an 8th of the price. The only downside of this hotel was the noise. The windows are not double glazed meaning constant traffic noise. The hotel also overlooks the city square which is constantly hosting events. Whilst this did not detract from our stay I imagine that a light sleeper would not appreciate this hotel, regardless of the quality of the room!

Comfortable, clean, and easy access to shopping”

clean room, location, courteous staff

I wasn't really in my hotel room other than to sleep and to drop off the many things I bought over at Myeong dong and Dongdaemoon. There's an underground path so you don't have to spend much time outdoors if you don't want to. Did I mention that the underground path is a shopping market?? The hotel is located not too far from Seoul Station which has an express train that will take you both to and from Incheon Airport. It's right across the street from City Hall and during my stay there was a huge performance in the square. The hotel is also across the street from Namdaemoon where you can check out traditional rituals at various times during the day. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, and there was no issue getting around from its location. The room was smaller than I had anticipated; I expected to get a bigger room for the price I paid per night but I can't complain... hotel cleanliness is much more important to me than the size of the room!

Great location, good service, beautiful facility”

Great location in the center of Seoul for sightseeing

Overall my parents and I had a great experiences at Plaza Hotel. If you want to stay at 5-star hotel in the center of Seoul, there's only Lotte and Plaza available. The hotel's location is great. We could walk around and use a cab without worrying about traffic jam so much. The hotel staff can communicate well in English or Japanese and provided me the great information about restaurants. Services and skills at the hotel's spa were excellent at reasonable price compared to prices in Tokyo. I also enjoyed the large bath every night. Only challenge that we had was I couldn't get a room with twin beds for my parents. Because there was a limited number of rooms with the twin beds at hotel. And the hotel was fully booked during our stay. It might be worth to try Lotte and other 4-star hotels in this area to see the values to stay at Plaza.

Beauitful room with cozy concept

great hotel to stay in for a good relaxing holiday. the rooms are beautiful and the concept is cozy. the bed is nice a soft with all controls beside your bed. you can also control your curtain without moving off your bed. with the cozy set up of the rooms you will forget the size of the rooms. staffs of the hotel are friendly and helpful and they speaks good english. for those who are heading for a good and relaxing holiday. i feels that this is a great hotel to stay. those who love shopping, moving around is never a problem, as you can walk from hotel to myeong-dong through underground shopping within 10 mintue. overall i will give them 9 out of 10 for this hotel.for the hotel foods i don't normally eat in hotel, as i prefers the local foods stalls by the streets.

Great location, modern & clean”

This is the 1st hotel we stayed (out of 3 hotels in Seoul). The size of the room was rather small. It was a Deluxe size, but it's ok since we were out most of the time. The concierge and the Bell Boy were extremely helpful with our itinerary and luggage help. They were very attentive. The gym is located next door. We didn't use it, so can't comment. The steam room/Sauna is also next door and is additional charge, which was a bit disappointing, since it wasn't mentioned while I was booking. Location is great, as it's literally next door from the CityHall metro...and is walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. Since i'm writing this review after our stay in 3 hotels, I must say that I do prefer the Lotte Hotel instead of the Plaza. They have a gourmet food court downstairs with free onsen/steam room, sauna access, which makes a huge difference during the winter time if you like to end your day with that.

Great High-Tech hotel in the best location.”

Location, Room Amenities, Service, Comfort

I stayed at the Plaza for 5 nights in Seoul and I could not ask for more. The hotel was smack-bang in the middle of the city and walking distance to Myeongdong and namdaemun shopping, food and entertainment. The hotel was very close to Changdeokgung and the Seoul Museum of Art. The hotel was linked underground to City Hall subway station and there were always an abundance of Taxi's out the front. The rooms were small, however very high tech, and you were able to control everything from the lights to the curtains through a touch-screen panel. The staff were somewhat friendly and helpful, however don't expect outstanding hospitality.

The room is stylish, comfy and spotless clean. It was especially spacious given we stayed at the Premier Suite, which we paid to stay for 3 nights at the price of 2. Nothing much to complain about. The best part of this hotel is its location. It's 5 mins. walking distance from Myeong-dong(while note that you need to go underground and up again, towards the direction of Westin). It's also above the City Hall subway station making travel easy.

My stay at the Seoul Plaza”

Good lobby service Ideal location to access major business offices Quiet
Small room (really too small for a hotel of this grade)

I would rate my stay at the Seoul Plaza Hotel overall as a good one. Unfortunately, the room that I was issued was very small, and certainly smaller than I would have expected from a hotel of this rating and reputation. Had I known about this, I might have been willing to pay slightly more at another similar hotel for a larger room or slightly more at the Seoul Plaza itself for a room upgrade (which was not available). As for the hotel's facilities, the health club, although in the separate Hanwha Building, is exceptional. Also, the hotel's location cannot be outdone.

Excellent service, good location!”

Excellent service, near shopping area, easy access to food

The hotel service is excellence. From the point of checking-in until we check-out, the staff never fail to greet us whenever we passed by. What impressed me is that they even have a counter to guide tourists around Seoul, recommending restaurants and shopping area around the hotel, and any place of interest that you intend to visit. The hotel printed their own version of Seoul map (with sub maps for common place of interest like Myeong-dong) for the use of its guests, lots of useful stuff in the map itself. Its rooms are technology savvy and clean with nice design. Easy access to airport with their airport shuttle too. The only comment I will make is that the room rates are slightly above the average rates near the hotel.
