Comfortable but inflexible, no early check in”
Clean, comfortable, near where we needed to go
In short we were arriving for a Wedding. We needed somewhere to change. The hotel were adamant we could not check in to the room early (check in was not till 1500!). So all we could get to change in was a public toilet... As it happened we changed at the hotel our friends were staying at.
Also I made a mistake on booking and needed to the for a couple rather than single occupancy. So that meant the £85 price became £115 per night. So an extra £30 for a towel and breakfast for one additional person.
Overall comfortable and clean but overpriced and inflexible. Staff were polite but did not go out of their way to make things possible.
It's a small hotel in a small but lovely town. I'm originally from Dorset so know the area and locals well. The manner of the staff at the hotel was not consistent with the friendliness and welcoming nature of Dorset people that I know and love.
It seemed to be that being about star hotel meant there needed to be an attitude of 'these are our terms ... Take it or leave it.'
Also check out is at 10:30 am. So it takes a rather long time to turn around the rooms if check in is absolutely not till 15:30. Needs to review how it works and be more flexible for guests.
