ATTETION!! Do not stay at this hostel. Opened my locker and STEALED 300 dollars from my wallet. The manager said he could not do anything for me.

Peaceful place and lovely staff”

A place for chilling, meeting other travels and enjoying Lanka's cuisine. It's located in peaceful area, a walking distance to the beach and the river, where you can watch gorgeous sunset and getting in touch with local fishmen.

Nice place, horrible location”

The Residence is nice if you want to get away from it all. And I mean ALL. There is not really anything nearby. But at least the owners will prepare food for you at reasonable prices. If you stay, make sure you have transportation.

A little far away from the beach. In the febrary season, there is no activity to do there.

Very friendly owner and it is quite interesting talking to them. So you get a better feeling how the locals live and think about their lives. Everything is fine at this place which I can warmly recommend.

Fantastic place to relax, wonderful staff”

I spent eight days at the residence after booking just one night. Lisa and Rwan are fantastic hosts, and wonderful people. I didn't want to leave. It was just the place I was looking for to relax, after having spent a noisy/busy couple of weeks travelling the west coast. The people in trincomalee and Nilavelli are much friendlier than the people in the south too. I will certainly be back and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Do not leave shoes outside, dogs will destroy them”

We were instructed to take off our shoes, left them with other shoes outside the door. The owner took them inside for night, except he left one pair outside, where his three dogs ripped them apart. When confronted with this fact, he only raised his shoulders, pointer towards the dogs and mumbled something, like it was not his problem, otherwise the stay was nice,room spacy, nice people.

A welcoming homestay”

A very enjoyable stay apart from the weather, close to the beach, easy to catch a bus to Trincomalee. Our chef Marshal was an excellent cook and so accommodating, even came to town with us so we could buy some fish, prawns and crab which he cooked for our evening meal.

I had a really nice stay and hang out there every evening even when i wasn't living there anymore. The owners are like family, the loveliest people I met during my Sri Lanka Trip. Perfect place for backpackers, nice and cheap. Love you Lisa and Ruwan

remote location”

too far from the nilaveli beach about 15-25 mins walking time depending on the route you take. beaches were deserted as well, hardly 8-10 people roaming around. although the rooms are budget friendly, lack of basic infra around the area can put you off unless you have a vehicle or something. remote location to put it otherwise. not recommended if you want to enjoy the beaches in trinco which ideally might be the primary reason why you would be in trinco.

Nice hotel / hostel ”

I did not eat there, but I had to vote there as well. Hence, I gave 4 points to keep the average of all my points. However, one of the owners is a chef, hence I can imagine that the food is good.

short stay but good experience ”

We only stayed a night but overall the experiences is good. We actually planned to prolong our stay but there was double booked, hence we need to look for other places. But, the staff was handle well so we didn't got upset about that :)

Ok place for the money”

The place was not easy to find. Most people never heard about it. When I called for help I was given the wrong direction. Spend an entire hour and endless walking before finding the place. The place is in fact between the 14km and 15km post on the main road and is opposite a big church. The place itself is ok and in line with what I expected for the price.

Super Guesthouse in entspannter Lage”

Wir hatten einen super Aufenthalt in der Residenz :) Die Besitzer sind wundervoll, die Zimmer sauber und man fühlt sich wie Daheim :) Zudem gibt es eine bestens ausgestattete Küche und einen Garten, den man mitbenutzen kann. In Nilaveli gibt es nicht sehr viele Shops und Restaurants, was daran liegt, dass die Gegend aufgrund des Bürgerkrieges noch nicht lange für touristen zugänglich ist. Dafür sollte man Verständnis haben. Wir würden auf jeden Fall erneut in der Residenz übernachten! Vielen Dank :)

田舎の離島レベルに静かなエリア。”

オフシーズン(12月)に行きました。トリンコマリーから、バスで30分程離れたところで、周りにレストランがなく、近所の商店でインスタント麺を買って、食べました。Wi-Fiも故障していました。 スリランカの他の街が、凄く都会的なのに、このエリアは田舎臭さが残っているので、街の喧騒から離れて、海辺でボーっと読書したい。なんて人にオススメです。短期で時間に限りのある旅行者には、オススメしません。
