Great spot full of character”
I accidentally booked here instead of their more modern sister hotel the Lealea. Ended up liking it. Cons: noisy room (under stairs, #321), chilly (but clean!) pool, stained carpets, somewhat dated feel. Pros: great character, wonderful staff, very family-friendly, clean, beautiful bathrooms, comfy beds, great hottub/sauna facilities, and AWESOME views. Recommend asking for a second floor lakeside room.
Nice view. Easy to get to. Near the attractive points. ”
The hotel doesn’t have an elevator. If you travel to Taiwan for a long time, you have to carry your suitcases up to your room. You don’t need to book a room plus gym/bike. Anyway, the room is comfy, nice and big bathroom.
A different and unique stay”
Located right at the water edge. The only Cedar wood lodging in the area. Very good location across the lake from the 'main' town. Obviously we opted for a different experience and went with the log cabin feel. It felt more homely and cosy. But the facilitates are more than adequate. There is even a covered swimming pool on premise. Breakfast is buffet with a mix of local, japanese and international. Standard fare but good enough to start the day of hiking and sight seeing. Location is near nice hiking trails lasting from an hour to 10 hours. It's also close to the Ropeway ( cable car) station and you can have a nice walk from the hotel towards Ropeway. For transportation, you can take the boat ferry across or opt for the all day bus pass. A few dinning spots just a street away from the hotel. As it is a rather small town/village, you can cover this town within 1.5 hours. Good for a relaxing and slow pace lifestyle.
A hotel made of Pinewoods”
I love the smell of this hotel. I recommend this hotel because it is situated at Pier 2 (opposite Pier 1 where you will arrive if you use bus from Taipei, train station or Hi speed Train Station). The boat ferries you around (there are 3 piers) for a whole day ticket (TWD300). We took a cab to go to the hotel (9km), and then for the rest of the trip we just use boat. They gave us a room overlooking the lake and it is so cozy. They have Nespresso in the room. Food spread is limited and could be done better. We bumped into the grand celebration where only vegetarians are served (once every 12 years). (Of course, we went out and looked for meat later :D). The hotel is close to the cable car, but we didn't take the cable car. I find it a bit weird to just ascend the hill instead of having the cable car across the lake or something. The cafe smells chlorine from the swimming pool below (it's an open pool). So we tend to dine in the faraway corner.
Away from the buzz”
Booked this hotel to have a different feel for our stay, not quite a conventional modern look, with sufficient conventional amenities. Only down side is that.there is no lift. So if you have heavy luggage, just get the staff to help. Food is not fantastic, but enough to keep you full. This is.the perfect place to be at, just away from the buzz from the other side of Sun Moon Lake.
More than one LeaLea”
The LeaLea is on the far side of the lake away from the chaos of the "arrival area" where the main town is. We took a boat to the village and walked to the first lea lea hotel we found Apparently there are three of them in a small area. And we picked the wrong one. Not a big deal as they directed us to the right one,----our booking didn't indicate which one! Beautiful place, a little dated, everything is wood, walls, ceiling, inside and out, very unique and different. The breakfast was very good for variety and seemed to cater to everyone..I may have complained about something that wasn't up to standard, and paid the price with extra attention from the staff. OMG kinda embarrassing! All in all an enjoyable stay!
Great lake view and great service”
The hotel provide free bike for rent, the best thing is they have the family style bike which could let my 6 years old son and I ride on one bike. The location of the hotel is also very convenience to shops and gondola. My son like to play pool table in the hotel and we had lots of fun there.
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
I had a good time there...I love the quietness and privacy of the hotel and also the friendly staff. The lake view is fantastic and worth paying extra money for. I also like that it is very easy to get to the hotel either via the van or boat. Check in and check out was a breeze and the hotel is very flexible about the time. I will go back again.
Nice hotel but overpriced”
This hotel faces the Sun Moon Lake and near the harbour (for boat trip around the lake and near the cable car station). I like the smell of the room (made of wood) and nice bathroom (I think recently renovated). The hotel is rather overpriced (for the weekend rate) and the breakfast is horrible. Overall OK but there are many cheaper hotels around the area.
lovely cozy one ”
I stayed with my friend at Deluxe Twin room(2 beds on 5th floor) for a night. It’s a 5 story building made of wood in old style like in 80’s and I loved it! ^ ^ My room didnt have the lake view but from the lobby sofas n restaurant I could enjoyed the view, facilities well maintained, bathroom remodeled brand new(bath tub, shower booth seperated, cant use showerhead in the tub but really clean, spacious, beautiful), staff all kind n understands English. I’d definately stay here again, recommend to others. I also liked the breakfast n didnt mind about the ripped curtain but my friend didnt. Hope they dont renovate completely changing the whole mood.
Nice view and location”
Very dirty swimming pool and carpet in bedroom
Very good view ”
Pros: very good lake view Cons: smell of food : no elevator
Old place, quite expensive ”
When I booked this five stars hotel, I hoped for a fancy place but it was not. The location was quite good, lake view was beautiful but the hotel was small and old, the curtains were even ripped! The staff tried to be helpful, however their response to my email was totally misunderstood which caused a lot of disadvantages for us.
Only 1 front desk staff when check in. No serving staff at breakfast. No lift for upper floor. No next time.
Log cabin like”
See my review at agoda.
Plush spacious room w comfy bed”
If you are going to Sun Moon Lake and you have a car, this is a much nicer side to stay on...and this is the accomodation you want. Quieter and more authentic with access to the water...yes, people do swim! Very Asian breakfast so don't expect greasy spoon food. The dining area needs new carpet and to be separated from gym and pool...it was weird trying to have breakfast with the loud thumping of the treadmill echoing through the restaurant. Loved my room though and free parking
The view is great but the window in the room is not very big. The location is good since it's quite in the night but not far from the stores for food. Pro: Best View Location Great staff Big room Acceptable clean Cons The hotel/facility is old. Need a big renovation. there is no elevators while there is 5 floors. the breakfast were the same for two days.
Great location, great hotel”
This was the most luxurious hotel we booked for our round trip of Taiwan, so our standards weren’t too high. But the hotel looks great, a little dated perhaps, but right at the lake. Be sure to get a room with lake view, you get a balcony overlooking the lake. Free bikes is a plus, they were good enough to take us round the lake. Perhaps the only drawback is the pool/facilities, which are located in a sort of mezzanine of the restaurant, which is curious. Breakfast is extensive, mainly Asian, but also some continental options.
Charm Hotel, situated quietly by the lake.”
- stayed in deluxe double room with lake view: enormous room, nicely furnished and decorated with a window facing the lake and sunset. Big bathroom with both shower and bath felt like paradise after a two day hike to Yushan. Staff were generally helpful but some didnt speak English. The swimming pool is pretty much useless: the water is really cold, there was only one lounge chair, and it's located in the same space as the upscale restaurant where there is always someone eating or having tea, so may not feel comfortable on your swimming gear diving around. The mixed sauna has a 20x10cm hole in the door, so, as to be expected is useless. The mixed Jacuzzi in the sauna room works great. No laundry available at the hotel or the village. Breakfast is in the nice room facing the lake, with lots of variety but 100% Chinese style (fine by us) There are good bycicles which can be used free of charge. TIP: ride a bike to any of the other piers and catch a bus back to Itao (the bike pays the same as a person: 100 NTD)
Quiet and Peaceful”
It was our first time in Sun Moon Lake and we chose to stay in The Richforest Hotel. This hotel was built using Chinese cypress woods. It had very nice smell and calming effect. We stayed in the Deluxe Family Room. The room had a balcony with lake view. We could fish from the balcony. The night market in Sun Moon Lake closed around 8pm.
