I paid extra for a room that was advertised on here to get a bathtub and there was no bathtub in the room. Asked if there was a room with a bathtub and I was told no. Also they stated they had air conditioning and they don’t in fact have AC. Our room was 78 degrees during the first night even though the room was set for 68. Thankfully the windows open slightly so we were able to keep the windows open. Staff was very helpful and suggested really good affordable food in the area. Area is great and everything NYC has to offer is easily accessible.
Lovely boutique hotel, fantastic location , literally on the Empire States doorstep....staff were lovely, bedrooms spacious and clean. Bathrooms a little small but workable and only 2 lifts in the hotel which at times were a tad annoying, best value for money we’ve had in New York, would not hesitate to stay here again .
$39 Additional mandatory facilities' fee !!!!”
The additional facilities' fee costs $39, which is mandatory!!! I didn't know that until check-in, there is no information about this additional fee on Agoda. I even could not cancel this booking since I had paid the room booking fee in Agoda. I am super disappointed about this mandatory facilities' fee since I would not use the facilities. I just need a room to stay!!!!!
Excellent hotel in downtown manhattan”
Nice and stylish building, great location in the heart of Manhattan, very clean and fresh rooms and friendly / helpful staff. One of my favorite places to stay in Manhattan and very good value for money!
Lovely hotel. Really good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are lovely and modern. Bit small and the bathroom is tiny but pretty good for central Manhattan. Take some ear plugs as the walls are quite thin! Would definitely stay here again though.
Good hotel in good location ”
The hotel is nice but the room is not spacious.
Beautiful hotel, accessible location”
Easy to find hotel which is near a few of the hot spots that i was interested in visiting. Room though a tad small (but totally typical for Manhattan hotels) was very comfortable, beautifully designs and felt quite stylish! lovely the lobby decor too. Staff were wonderful, especially the doorman! he was pro-active, friendly, and gave excellent service. even when i mentioned that i wouldn't need help getting a taxi as my uber was on it's way, he would stand by the curb and keep a look out for the car plate, and would help flag it down for me (while still being busy helping other guests flag down taxis). i would definitely return again.
Book directly with hotel!”
This hotel is lovely and in a prime location, close to just about everything. Rooms are a good size, given it's NY. The beds are outrageously comfortable - I wanted to take one home with me. Friendly staff and a modern fresh look. I'd HIGHLY recommend booking directly with the hotel and skip Agoda. There were extra fees not included in the "total" price. I ended up paying the hotel another $250 CDN. I called Agoda and tried to dispute this and was told to "read the fine print". They were correct that it was stated in the contract but that wasn't made clear. It was included in a callout box with what was "included". Very sneaky. Book directly with the hotel, they will match any rate and give you additional perks. Skip Agoda and save the hassle.
The staff was attentive and courteous. The location in midtown was ideal for touring Manhattan. Although we were facing Madison Ave it was very quiet at night (on the 11th floor with good windows). The bathroom was indeed small, but we were able to make it work.
Nice location and nice hotel”
Very tiny bathroom and had a leaking shower wall/base so floor of room was always wet after showers. It was always from the inside of the shower towards the toilet. Very nice staff and accommodations.
My First Real Let-Down Among My Agoda Bookings”
Booked our 14-night stay (October 27-November 12) as early as May 2018; fully-paid with high expectations due to the hotel’s excellent location and the rather prohibitive cost of the hotel’s room-for-four. Our very first night at the hotel was a nightmare! The hotel informed us that they could not check us in as no room was available for us. Despite my protestations, my family had to settle for a night’s stay at a nearby hotel, a refund of one night and free breakfast for 4 the following day. (As of this writing, I still have to see my refund reflected on my credit card bill!) Long story short, successfully checked-in the following day after a bit of unpleasant moments with the hotel reception. The rest of our stay was uneventful except that despite continued requests, we got 3 towel sets instead of 4 each time. The worst happened upon our check-out when I was made to pay an additional $525 service charge — something that all my agoda.com -booked hotels never made me pay!
Comment on Breakfast Price”
I was a bit taken aback at the price of breakfast when I saw the price on my bill. $30+ is, IMHO, ludicrous for some eggs and coffey. You should make the price clearer prior to making recommendations to the guest. Yes, it's NYC; things are pricy, it get it. But really...? The breakfast was good but the price left a bad taste in my mouth and tainted the experience.
I liked everything about the hotel but was left with a bitter taste when at checkout they said there was an additional $33 dollars a night service charge that I was not aware of when I paid and made the booking.
Staff were wonderful, especially the doorman!”
We picked the hotel mainly for the striking black and white awnings outside, and the modern and comfortable looking rooms. Sadly the hotel was under scaffolding so the awnings were almost totally obscured. We had a corner room meaning windows (small ish) in two of the four walls. Unfortunately we were opposite a part built property and there were builders looking right into our room so we had to have the blinds closed for privacy, and the were not all that many lights in the room. We did think the hotel was a little bit basic on what it offered, no breakfast included, no turndown service, no complimentary bottled water or frills such as a chocolate on the pillow or a fruit platter in the room. Now I know these might sound demanding but we were paying over £350 a night so I don't think it would have been too much to ask.
Unexpected charges at check out”
The staff are polite, friendly and helpful and if the charge for the room that was paid initially was the only charge, it would’ve been better value. However, at check out we were charged an additional $39 per day, which included a $33 charge for coffee, wine etc that was served in the foyer at various times of day, that we did not drink. Should’ve been disclosed at the beginning of our stay and has left a sour taste in our mouths. Hence, I would urge people to take this fee into account when making a booking at The Roger.
Will come back”
all was perfect
Very good location, and the room is more bigger in New York.
Great location, good hotel but can be pricey ”
Use this place for work as it's very close to flatiron - they gave me a huge room and a warm welcome. It's modern style and a cut above nearby hotels (Hilton fashion, Hyatt herald etc.) but I find the price can fluctuate a lot. I only stay at a price point like those hotels. During peak times/prices it's not going to live up to expectation and I'd stay at the Andaz on 5th instead - which is slightly further north further away - but the quality is more in line with the price point.
Good location, neat room, stylish and kind”
I trawveled with my mom abd stayed here for three nights. It was way beyond than satisfactory! All staffs were ready to help. The interior looked were much better than in the pictures. Compared to other design/ boutique hotels in this area, room was bigger, bathroom was much bigger and facilities were cleaner and brighter. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.
Not Cheap, but worth it”
Kindly, I mean very kindly workers will make you happy. I know it is not cheap here but come on, it is in the middle of the Manhattan. I have been to a bit cheaper hotel near the Roger but I would recommend the Roger. That's because you will see why the cheap hotels are cheap.( Welcome to Newyork)
