Great if you stay in the more expensive rooms
I stay here each time I come to Chiang Mai, so i do like this hotel, but my last two nights here this time I booked a fan room with private bathroom. The mattress was awful and all I could feel was springs. I had to layer it with blankets to be able to actually sleep. The room was very unclean looking - it was 'clean' but old grime and stains were very present, plus I found dust and hair on the bedhead, which was really unpleasant. I know you get what you pay for, but I do expect a mattress that is able to be slept on, at least. Once I came back to my room during the day and found the cleaning staff all sitting on my bed chatting instead of cleaning the room. I sort of felt as though my privacy had been invaded when i saw this. Prior to these two nights I slept in an air conditioned room (in the same hotel), which had been renovated. The mattress was very comfortable and the room was clean.

Great value for money
We booked 2 nights here and ended up booking a third night because it was such great value for money. The room was basic but had everything we needed and the pool was a life saver in the hot afternoon weather. The staff were really friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Would definitely recommend this place to other travellers

What the f...
Its location is fairly far away from the Night Bazaar, the focus of the night. There is no lifts so unfortunately, I've to climb 5 floors everytime... This place lacks a homely feel and that swimming pool, just a hole into the ground. Utter disappointment. One more thing - try your best not to sit at the restaurant after 6 pm because it is so mosquito-infected. I was bitten badly.

Creepy Alley
The hotel is situated in a scary, dark alley off the main streets not far from Kroh Loh, but we did not feel safe towalk there at night. Rooms were dirty and stuffy. Everything is over-decorated to hide the dirt. Staff were curtious but distant.
