Friendly staff in an hotel with a 5 star location. Public areas a little 'tired', but nonetheless clean. Rooms were unexpectedly spacious and our South facing room had great views over the Thames/Eye.
Hello and thank you so much for your review! I am delighted that you had an amazing, flawless stay with us and thoroughly enjoyed our beautifully appointed River facing bedrooms. You are assured of a spectacular postcard view of the River Thames, spectacular London Eye and lively SouthBank whatever time of the day or year that you stay!We cannot wait until you visit us again for another spectacular stay!
Absolutely the best hotel we have ever stayed in in London, paying around GBP300 a night for 10 nights. The staff were incredible, very helpful, especially Inese in the Terrace bar section where she somehow managed to cope with extraordinary numbers of guests during the soccer world cup match days!! Fabulous views from our 8th floor river facing room, views to die for every day, of the London Eye, round to St Paul's cathedral. Such a convenient location right in the centre of London. The ambience in summer of the Terrace bar area was fantastic and we entertained there several times, especially nice to be able to exit and enter directly into the Embankment Gardens. Would definitely return to this hotel! Thank you for a great stay.
Thank you very much for the complimentary review! I am delighted to read that you had an exceptional stay! I am pleased to hear that you were treated to our 5* service and received the personalised touches that made your stay all the memorable. The team have a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service in a warm, friendly and welcoming manner and I am extremely happy to hear that you were well looked after, especially by Inese. We are in an enviable location - only a short scenic stroll away from the tourist hotspots of Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, and Downing Street. Or for a bit of culture in the Capital, the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern and Somerset House are minutes away too! Thank you for confirming that you will return - we very much look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
Medium to Small Size Room”
Elegant. Walking distance to Embankment Tube and public attractions. No breakfast inclusive.

Good option for the london marathon”
We are here for the london marathon as it is bery close to the finish line. Well this is an old refurbished hotel. All the facilities are there and in good quality. Room is huge for London. The toilet floor heater is a pleasant surprise. Location is excellent. Some of the most famoust tourist spot are walkable. 2 minutes walk from embankment tube, 3 minutes walk accross the river to get a perfect pict of the london eye, 5 minutes to trafalgar square, 7 minutes to big ben, 9 minutes to westminster abbey. You can even reach buckingham palace by walking 15-20minutes through the mall. Plenty of food option around. The hotel restaurant is excellent as well. The negative side, well the doorboy. On our arrival with many luggages seems hesitant to help us unloading from the car. Wouldn't find this kind of attitude at other 5 star establishment. After the marathon the same doorboy rudely asked 'can i help you sir?' when i walked into the hotel, in disbelief if i stayed in the hotel.
Hello and congratulations on your marathon run! I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and found out super location not only useful for the London Marathon but also sightseeing. I'm so sorry to hear about the issue that you encountered with our doorman and will be addressing to ensure that it does not re-occur. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back for another enjoyable stay!
We enjoyed the stay at the hotel, definitely going back. The staff were all nice. The smiles on their faces resonated across the hotel corridors, which made our stay more lovely. Both the exterior and interior of the hotel look great! Also, watch out for the hotel's 2017 NYE party! 2016's was really lovely. :)
Hello and thank you for confirming that you will be back! NYE certainly is all the more special at The Royal Horseguards Hotels. With unrivalled views of the fireworks and our 5* team looking after your every need there is no better way to start your New Year!
overall is very good but minor dissatisfactions”
I booked two luxurious double rooms with river view. One of the room was wonderful, but another room is much smaller than the first one, about half of the size of it. My brother and I were very disappointed and they didn't receive my requirement which is one of the rooms shall have two separated beds. Although there were mis-communication between the hotel and Agoda, the staff there was very nice. He arranged another single room for my brother and moved us to a new double room next day. Although the new room didn't have river view, but the room is very nice and comfortable. Thanks the staff for saving our holidays.
Great location and Front Desk staff, then let down”
This is an impressive looking hotel in a fantastic location on the Thames, opposite the London Eye and next to Embankment station. The front desk managers are excellent, very welcoming and flexible. The rooms are ok, not massive but this is central London but good. The issues they have are that some of the facilities are not well-maintained - broken toilet seat, leaking shower hose for example and no-one to fix them. Housekeeping service is slow (a 2+ hour wait despite repeated calls) and the porters know nothing about the hotel or rooms and hang around waiting for tips. I would stay again but there are some simple areas for the hotel to make some big improvemnents to the experience
Must choose this hotel”
I love this hotel so much. Perfect location in the centre, amazing view.. fantastic services.. They upgraded our room to the river view and surprised us with dessert on the table as a welcome treat. The thing makes me couldn't forget about this hotel is their beautiful smell in lobby area. Don't forget to enjoy the park behind the hotel, their restaurant and also the foods 😊👍
Modern comfort in historic luxury, an oasis”
My first stay at the hotel was for two nights while closing a deal in London. It involved late night, marathon sessions where I was on the phone and Internet continually. The room service offered excellent food, the staff was attentive, the bathroom luxurious in comfort and the bed one of the best I have ever slept in. The rooms have been totally updated while keeping their historic woodwork and other charming features. Only a few minutes walk to either Charing Cross or Embankment tube stations. Will definitely stay here again for business and pleasure.
A fantastic hotel on the banks of the Thames”
This was an excellent hotel. It is very clean and close to the underground. The view of the Thames from the 7th floor room was amazing and the staff were attentive. There was nothing to fault about the room. The amenities were bountiful.
Great Hotel, Great location”
The hotel location is great, within walking distance of Trafagar Square (less than 5 min walk, Leicester Square and Covent Garden (if you don't mind walking for 15-20 min). It's also next to River Thames and within walking distance of the ferry point. Hotel has a very posh ambience and the staff were very helpful and polite. Room is a bit small but it's typical of such hotel which is so centrally located.
Great Location, Nice Service”
we booked a standard double room. the room was small but cozy and had a t.v in the shower. the food and drinks in the hotel were quite pricey but you aren't in any way obliged to have any of them so it didn't make any difference to us as we only had afternoon tea which cost a lot but was well worth it. when we arrived about 5 hours before regular check in time the room was ready and we checked in quickly, we enjoyed the hotel massively and the staff were really helpful in explaining how to get to the various restaurants that we had made reservations at.
Great location, great services and lovely room”
Everything in this hotel is good. Good room, good bed and pillows. Staffs are friendly. Hotel interior looks great, hotel exterior looks greater. And the location is great. Near tube station, and we can walk to city center in just minutes
A recommended hotel!”
the hotel is located in the central of london and just few minutes away from underground. room is well designed with fully necessary facilities even ipod dock and aux in. tv screen in shower room allows you to watch important football match in the rest room.
Good : location and nice room. Bad : see below”
Bad experience : - Not possible to open any window in the room. Like in a prison. That should be indicated in the hotel website for this room category - No hot water for several hours on Saturday night. The staff said it was because of a power cut. That's not acceptable for a hotel of that category since it is common technology to have ups systems (uninterruptable backup power supply) - The second day the room service did not leave any soap, therefore impossible even to wash the hands. I had to ask the reception. - Some items in the bathroom were not in line with this hotel category : the window was old and very dirty, the buttons in the shower were partly broken, the toilet was part of plastic which has a cheap appearance.

Close to everything ”
Very close to most major sites in London. All the staff were helpful and friendly. From the doorman, restaurant, concierge, back of house and front desk nothing was an effort, these people are professional at their job. The view from our river view room was a great place to see the night lights of this amazing city.
Thank for your recent review regarding your stay at The Royal Horseguards Hotel. Our beautifully appointed river facing rooms are indeed a fantastic - with majestic views of the River Thames, The Queen’s Walk on the Southbank and iconic London Eye. Day or night amazing. Or take a short stroll through our historic city to visit Charing Cross, Somerset House, The National Gallery and Trafalgar Square, famous for its fountains and Nelson’s Column at the centre. The team have a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service in a warm, friendly and welcoming manner and I am extremely happy to hear that you were well looked after.
Staff really spoiled the experience”
Nicely located hotel right at the bank of Thames Rivers, good restaurant with outdoor seating. Staff in the restaurant were helpful and nice There were few disappointing incidents: - my private tour guide called in asking the staff to let’s us know the location of the tour changed ... no one let’s us know - my lost luggage (by airline) arrived at the hotel on Friday night, no one knew and until we checked out ... checked in another hotel, called in to check if they kept our lost luggage, staff continued to confirmed no untill i insist to go inside the luggage room and found my luggage there with my name on it. - check-in staff ear-mark my credit card for 1,500gbp and i have not seen the credit back of the amount until 6 days later. the email response was they only deposit 150gbp and have been released. Of course the delay of credit back the amount was not because of the hotel but staff continued to confirmed they only earmark my credit card 150gbp when i sent them the statement

It’s a good place but was shocked to find that mobile connectivity/signal was not there in the room.”
Upon inquiry the concierge admitted that the problem of mobile connectivity is an issue. It’s in a very good location with all facilities except the swimming pool. Staffs are friendly & good room service with tasty food.

However I am pleased to know that this did not spoil your visit and that you enjoyed our 5* hospitality. I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to our regal hotel very soon.
Excellent views, outstanding and accommodating staff.”
We had an amazing stay at the hotel. We found the staff to be knowledgeable, accommodating and went out of their way to assist our request. Our concierge, Alex was able to get us a reservation at the Shard for dinner . We had an excellent view and were so pleased to have the opportunity to dine at the Shard since our request was last minute. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely stay here in the near future. Thank you for making our stay such a wonderful experience!
