Great hotel with a convenient location”
I stayed at royal park hotel THE Kyoto for 2+1 nights. It has been a lovely experience! The rooms were clean and the staff provided excellent service. They have been polite and when we returned to the hotel to stay for the final night (we went on a road trip and left our luggage with the concierge) to our pleasant surprise, they have already transported our luggages to the room! The location of the hotel is also very convenient as it is located just at the Sanjo covered shopping arcade. It is a short walk to Gion and the shopping areas. The Kyotoshiyokusumae subway is also just a few minutes walk away. I'll definitely return to this hotel if i travel back to Kyoto (which i do very often since it is such a lovely place).
New hotel with nice rooms and good service”
if you do not have heavy luggage to lug around, you can reach the hotel by taking bus service number 5 from bus bay a1. pop by the kyoto tourist information centre on level 2 to pick up a few maps and the bus navigation guide. an all-day city bus pass (500 yen) can be bought there. however, if you forgot about it, you can get it from any vending machine located at the city bus terminal of kyoto station. if you plan on taking more than 2 bus trips in a day, that pass is economical. get off at the kawaramachi sanjo bus stop which is 8th bus stop from the terminal. walk further down to the pedestrian crossing. you will see the hotel. we stayed here for 3 nights. we were impressed with the decor and theme of the hotel. when we checked in, the front desk's service was impeccable. the hotel's elevator and room can only be accessed via the room card. do note the hotel front door is locked electronically from 0100hrs - 0600hrs. if you plan on staying out late, remember the card. however, you can still communicate with the front desk via the intercom. the room was well furnished and spacious by japan's standards. the bed is comfortable and the hotel sleepwear was comfortable. we loved the pillows. the amenities provided by the hotel in the bathroom were thoughtful. the air purifier provided by the hotel was well put to use.
Ideal location and perfect hotel in Kyoto”
We booked this hotel through Agoda with an early bird discount. Check in was very easy and professional, no question with our voucher. As the other reviewers said the location of this hotel is ideal. We took a taxi to the hotel from Kyoto Station. The name of the hotel is quite confusing. Make sure you have the map of the hotel as our taxi driver thought we wanted to go to Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa instead which is hopefully one block away. Nothing to add with regard to the room, service, free wifi, etc all perfect. Hotel bar: cocktails are good but so small for the same price as you would pay in Tokyo. Breakfast: the nice good and there is a Katsukura restaurant just apatisserie just next door is ideal, the croissants and nice pastries to go or to have breakfast seated. Very nice and much cheaper. Dinner : a lot of restaurants in the area. Plenty of choice. There is a sushi bar 2 blocks away very t the entrance of the shopping galery (16 Ishibashi-cho, Sanjo-dori Kawaramachi nishi-iru, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City) if you love tonkatsu, go there! there is also a tourist center along the main street (walking distance from the hotel) where you can buy a bus daily pass.500 yens for one day.
3 bed twin room was spacious and great location”
If we stay in Kyoto there is no question we would come back and stay at the Royal Park Hotel in a heart beat. The hotel was great but given we were in Kyoto to explore the location was more important to us so we had a bonus to have the best of both. The hotel was close to a few subway stops. We were very close (walking distance) to the Gion district where I saw a Gashia in the street. They are hard to photograph they move like ninjas you see one for a second and then they are gone. We saw a few temples and shrines walking around in the Gion district too. We walked to the imperial palace and the Nijo-jo (castle) both are close and beautiful. We walked to several other temples and gardens needless to say again GREAT LOCATION! The hotel is practically next door (actually only a couple of shops away from a fantastic Pizza place (authentic Italian pizza), there was also a Ninja restaurant (very affordable and tasty) near by as well. Also there is a beautiful stream near by with bridges that cross it in several locations. The water is very pretty and a nice view from several restaurants near by.
Great location”
i like the decor of the lobby in roayl park hotel which gives you a very modern and hip feeling. our room does not have a nice view as it faces the back stairs. however, it is very quiet and the bed is very comfortable too. room is a bit small but it is still acceptable. overall, royal park is definitely a good choice for kyoto as it has a prime location which has excellent transport links and very close to the sanjo dori shopping streets and loads of restaurants.
Great all around deal”
I've stayed at the Royal Park in two different Tokyo properties and wasn't disappointed with my experience in Kyoto. The in-room amenities are comparable, the facility is modern, clean, and well cared-for. The staff is quite friendly and speak adequate English. Even the bar had a subdued night scene, which I didn't expect with just how much is close by. The hotel itself is very conveniently located to the best part of Kyoto center (from a traveler's perspective) including one of the main subway lines. One interesting note about the Royal Park in general -- all of the hotels in the chain that I've stayed at seem to use the same, standard-issue mattress. If you prefer a very firm mattress, I'd bank on expecting it. (If not, you are warned!)
The best hotel with big rooms and great location”
I stayed here for two nights and Royal Park Hotel The Kyoto has definitely exceeded my expectations. The room I book is a Small Double but it is bigger than I imagined. This is the biggest hotel room I've stayed in Japan. It is located near the Subway station (Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station) and also near the covered shopping arcades. If you like shopping and eating, this is a great hotel for you to spend hours around the vicinity. You can easily visit sightseeing spots from the area by catching the public bus or subway. I would recommend taking the taxi to save time! I will definitely come back to this hotel if I'm back in Kyoto.
Nice Hotel with great locations”
i was travelling with my family (wife and 2 young daughters) to kyoto. it was a pleasant stay in royal park hotel. the good things that the rooms are new, simple and nice. size is slightly small for 2 adults and 2 children, but i booked one extra bed, hence it is quite comfortable. the room amenities is good. no need to bring shampoo, bath soap, razor, comb, tootbrushes as it is all provided. the best thing about the hotel is the location, it is near to the shopping centres, nishiki market, gion area. there are plenty of nice restaurants near the hotel, essian pontocho, musashi sushi, ramen and french bakery which are only less 5 minutes walking from hotel. i highly recommended this hotel for trip in kyoto.
Beautiful, immaculately clean hotel, good location”
We loved this place, it by far exceeded our expectations. The hotel provided very good coffee and green tea in the rooms - much better than the instant coffee you usually find in hotels in Japan - and the bakery downstairs had the best breakfast we've had in Kyoto. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked, with a full-sized bath, quite a luxury compared to what is often provided. The staff was very helpful and professional, and were very quick to respond to any requests. The hotel is also very well located at the corner of Sanjo-dori and Kawaramachi, with great shopping nearby, the Museum of Kyoto, and a very cute vegetarian restaurant down the street.
Awesome hotel and staff! Great location as well!”
We absolutely loved the Royal Park Hotel Kyoto! This was our favorite hotel of all that we stayed in while in Japan. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful - eager to provide suggestions and making the check-in/check-out process super easy. The rooms themselves were quite large and very clean with comfortable beds, linens, and amenities. The location is perfect - super close to the market shops, Poncho-cho, and many other delicious restaurants. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kyoto!!
Stylish hotel with excellent location”
We stayed at the Kyoto Royal Park hotel for 4 nights and had a great time - the hotel is very stylish and close to the main shopping and entertainment areas, including a number of Lonely Plant recommendations. Even with the location, the room was quiet and we weren't disturbes at all. Their conceige service were very helpful as well, handling local queries and luggage shipping with ease. The rooms are small by western standards, but perfectly acceptable considering the location. The room had a slight lack of storage with no reall wardrobe, just a few hanging points. Again however, this is common across Japan. We didn't make use of the resturant or bar as there are plenty of alternatives within walking distance.
Good location, new facilities”
this hotel is about 5 minutes' walk from the subway station. it is located on sanjo, a major commercial street with variety of restaurants and convenient stores. we travelled in kyoto by rented bicycle, the hotel is close to the bicycle parking lot and the hotel is basically in the middle of every famous sightseeing places in kyoto. but the price is a little bit high comparing to other hotels we stayed in tokyo and osaka because it is the sakura season.
Cozy hotel at a convenient location”
The hotel is very neat and tidy, cozy and staying there is very comfortable. The rooms are very spacious comparing with other local Japanese hotels (while cost is not much higher than hotels where rooms are just half of the size of Royal Park Hotel The Kyoto). Service of the hotel is nice but comparing to other local Japan hostels, obviously there is less of the personal interactions. However, the friendly and helpful service of staff is good enough for travelers. Location of the hotel is also very convenient where you can easily get food in the busy streets around the hotel. It is very accessible to tourist areas, which is around 20 mins walk to Kiyomizu-dera and Gion.
Great location and very wam service”
what a great experience to stay in royal park hotel, kyoto. i would like to express my full appreciation to brent, mr. 湯淺, miss 縣 and miss 小川...and all the kind help from staff. your warm and professional service did make our stay really enjoyable. i really recommend this hotel, not only service and also good location and very cozy. thank you very much. wish i could visit kyoto again soon and of course! i will choose royal park hotel!!
Great location, great service - fantastic overall”
I was traveling in Japan for 18 days, going to various hotels and places. Kyoto is definitely the place I love the most. Lots of places to go and see here. This hotel is definitely way excellent. Staff are very friendly, they help with direction, suggestion to go, one staff even mapped out a nice bike track for me to follow to Harashiyama. The hotel is very new. Room is big and high class... worthy of a 5 star hotel room. The location is very nice, it is at Sanjo where the centre of activities in Kyoto are. I will defn go back to Japan, and Kyoto is defn the place to come back to and this hotel is the place to stay at.
Fabulous hotel with great location and service!”
this is a wonderful hotel. the service is very friendly and professional. the location is perfect! right next to popular area and all kinds of transportation stations. very centered to all the famous sights. the room got everything you need when traveling- shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, tooth brush, etc.. new and clean. a beautifully designed hotel. we we will definitely stay at royal park hotel the kyoto next time when we visit kyoto!!
Awesome location and very friendly & helpful staff”
great accessible hotel- although the name stumped us a bit we assumed it was the kyoto royal park hotel- as it did not make grammatical sense to us- but it is as it is written! great friendly staff who were very helpful when asked questions and for information. great location with a great bakery under the hotel (on the street). awesome clean rooms although a little small compared to australian expectations- but good size and very clean with mod cons for japanese standard of rooms. would definitely recommend!
Cool new hotel, good location.”
This hotel is only about 1,000 yen taxi ride from Kyoto station, and near other bus and subway lines. It is very central and there are many shops, restaurants and bars on the main streets and malls in the neighborhood, but diving into any alley or side street will reward you with much more. (Though the bakery/cafe downstairs is wonderful!) Many sites are walkable within about 30 minutes or less, but renting a bike is the ideal way to go, since the city is about 5 km square and the hotel is right in the middle. (However, it lacks bicycle parking.) We had a small room, but by Japanese standards it was sufficient. I believe the suites in the hotel are amazing, if you're looking to splurge a bit. The bathroom was nicer than other equivalent hotels we stayed in in Japan. The hotel is very new (July 2011) so it has updated everything, comfortable beds, great shower, and really cool interior design. We did not try the restaurant or bar, but they both seemed very cool. The only problem was that since the hotel is so new, no one knows where it is. So bring the address with you, and make sure you don't get confused with the Royal Hotel and Spa nearby.
Dreat Location in Kyoto”
Stayed at The Royal Park hotel for two days with friends. Nice hotel room in the heart of Kyoto. Very good room for relaxing in after spending the day sightseeing in Kyoto. Good English spoken at the hotel. The location of the hotel really makes this hotel a good choice. Great to be near the river in Kyoto and the nightlife around the area is really good.
Wonderful hotel in the heart of Kyoto”
This hotel made our Christmas experience in Kyoto complete. The front desk gave us a complementary upgrade to the premium floor for a more spacious room. From the room we could see Kiyomizudera. The bathroom was great with an ultra-modern japanese toilet and a big soaking tub and shower. The location could not be beat. The hotel is steps away from the pedestrian shopping area on Sanjo/Teramachi as well as easy walking to Gion and the Keihan Sanjo Station.
