Good hotel!”
This hotel is tucked away at the fringe of the "touristy center" but within walking distance to the Marketplace. It is next to the exit 6 of the Shijo Station but go to exit 4 for elevator if you have big luggage that you don't want to lug up the stairs. I had a great experience staying here for 4 nights. It is quiet and new. I think it is relatively newer to its sister hotel located in Sanjo. Like everything in Japan, everything is super clean. The room is good size for Japanese standard but small comparing to the US norms. What's impressive is the soaking tub in the bathroom. It came in handy after a long day of walking / sightseeing - really relaxing! The There is no bar soap nor small bottles of shampoo / conditioner but there are pumps for soap, shampoo and conditioner. I like the quality and the completeness of the other amenities standard for Asian hotels... you also get 2 complementary bottles of water daily. One thing I really appreciate is the quietness... we got 2 adjoining rooms and we don't hear any noise outside our rooms. This hotel is a midrange hotel but I really like it. Worth the bucks!
Superb location, great staff and clean hotel”
Stayed there for four nights, the staff were always very receptive and friendly. Situated right next to Shijo station which is only 2 stops away from Kyoto station, really convenient. Hotel is always within walking distance (10-15 mins) to Nishiki market. Really loved my stay there. Room was reasonable sized and comfortable. If there is a chance, will stay there again.
Wonderful stay!”
Great stay at the Royal Park Shijo! Super friendly staff; nice, new clean rooms; and a location literally right in front of a subway station that can’t be beat. Excellent value for money and I will most definitely stay here again!
Terrific hotel for Kyoto visitors”
This is a great hotel for a traveler who wants a very clean, well-located hotel, without paying for the “frills” that one rarely uses. Staff is very helpful, The rooms are large enough so one is comfortable spending an afternoon lounging about (which we did due to a typhoon sweeping thru Japan), the coffee shop serves a nice variety of food (although I wish that it served Japanese breakfast as is served in the sister hotel on Sanjo-dori), and there are lots of excellent restaurants (everything from a vegetarian buffet to top notch Japanese kaiseki), within 2 blocks. Several bus lines run along the main thoroughfare outside front door, and Kyoto Subway is at the front door, making it very convenient to go anywhere In the City (Kyoto train station 2 stops away ). This is my “go to” hotel in Kyoto!
Great breakfast and restaurant staff. Lovely rooms and ideal location”
Very conveniently located as a base to explore Kyoto. Walking distance to Nishiki Market and Arashiyama, Kinkakuji-ji and Nijo-jo are a short journey away. Only 2 stops to Kyoto Station that we used to travel to and from Tokyo and Hiroshima. The breakfast was one of the best of the hotels we stayed in during our trip to Tokyo and the croissants possibly the best I’ve ever had. I would recommend paying the extra for the premium rooms as these were much larger than you normally find in Japan and had a few extras like a daily drink coupon, better in room complimentary drinks and snack. It was also useful to have the toilet and sink/shower in separate rooms.
Excellent! The hotel is very clean and new!”
This hotel is very comfortable and clean. Beds are not too hard or soft. They can just relieve my tired body after walking for entire day. However, the location is nearby the subway "shijo" . You may take one or two stations to transit center for transferring. That's a little inconvenient. But it didn't bother me a lot. Overall, I like this hotel very much!
Wonderful hotel in great location”
This was a great hotel to base our visit in Japan. We were originally going to stay for 5 nights and decided to extend it to 10 nights. Good shopping and lots on restaurants nearby. Located by the local train line and by lots of bus lines. However for most trains, you will need to transfer in Kyoto Station, so this was the only drawback. Very responsive staff, rooms are immaculate and enjoyed the shower/ tub combination. It met all of our needs.
convenient location, clean and big bathroom ”
overall the location is good, it is 2 stations away from kyoto station and able to walk to Ginza ( 20min) if you prefer walking or travelling by their train station. - near by to shopping area ( Daimaru dept store) - convenient to walk around and go to other places of interest e.g. castle - There are many breakfast options nearby - hotel breakfast is about $2600ayen but we never tried. Tried their high tea set which is quite nice. - Nice and clean room. Except on the first night i was itching all over using the bed ( Ask for a change of bedsheet the next day and problem resolve)
Exceptional”
The hotel room was spacious, everything was very well maintained, up to date with technology and comfortable. Close to train station (Shijo). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
A surprise find in Kyoto! Excellent location and rooms”
This is a newly opened hotel that is well-located and only a few steps away from the main road and subway, without being impacted by any noise from the traffic. Room is relatively large among hotels in Kyoto. Modern decor and is cleverly designed to maximize space, e.g. open hanging bars for clothes, several USB plug-ins and etc. Toilet is split into dry and wet areas, and can fit in a shower area beside the bathtub, without looking cramped at all.
New and convenient ”
Hotel and room is new and modern. Located very near to Shijo subway exit, make it convenient and easy to explore the city from here. The price is also reasonable and the twin room is spacious for Japan standard. Will recommend to frens and stay again .
good location , very helpful staff”
An excellent location to public transport to get out and about Kyoto and beyond. Within walking distance to the largest shopping street I have ever seen!. Has excellent, helpful staff and its own restaurant if you don't want to venture out to discover your own favorite place. Would definitely stay there again.
Excellent location, nice hotel”
The property is at a great location as it's close to the subway. The property is new and staff is quite nice. The room is small but it's fine as in Japan standard. I will definitely stay at this property if I come back to Kyoto.
Excellent”
We stayed in a double bed room for 2 nights. No views on any of the double rooms, but for those two nights we didn't care. The rooms are brand new, i.e. modern. Separate shower and tub were very nicely laid out. All toiletries provided. Fresh slippers and nightshirts each day. Best shower water pressure of all 12 hotels we stayed at during our asian trip. Staff is excellent! Laundry room on 2nd floor was so convenient. Almost no space between end of bed and tv wall! Very tight. But a mini couch and table were cute. Location excellent for transportation. All in all, very good hotel with extremely helpful and professional staff. Only beef was the price, but we did stay on a weekend.
Exceptional”
Great hotel, great value, great location was a very pleasant three night stay I will definitely stay here whenever I return to Kyoto
Clean good location near train station 2 stops to Kyoto station ”
Enjoyed stay good location many places to eat around. Train station outside the hotel. 2 stops to Kyoto main station.
Exceptional”
Great hotel - fantastic location - everything about our stay was wonderful and this is where I would stay when I go back to Kyoto!
Fantastic location ”
Room itself is moderately sized for Japan. Bathroom is fantastic given the size of the room - almost the same size as the room itself. Location is perfect - can walk to nishiki market in 10minutes, Gion area in about 20minutes and a subway station literally outside the hotel which can take you to Fushimi-Inari shrine in about 25min. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Very good facility and thoughtful services ”
Staff are very polite, hotel is like new and room is spacious compares to average. Front desk staff are very well trained and they proactively prepared different maps with different types of cuisine recommendations in the area which is very handy.
A Good Find!”
Great location, just minutes from two subway lines and accessible through underground malls. With the transportation, there is easy access to all the tourist sights. The rooms were large by Japanese standards with a big window and good lighting. Bed linens were luxurious and the bathroom was large, with the tub and shower in a separate adjoining room. The area is full of eateries and konbini (Japanese convenient store) so you never go wanting. Room was complete with full toiletries, iron and ironing board, humidifier, pyjamas, slippers, large screen TV and USB ports. Reception spoke good English and aceeded to all requests.
