River Suite

Great Value for money give it a try ”

Near to the river and easy access to cheap public boat service, Very good value suites that are large and comfortable overlooking the river.

Personally I prefer the Royal River to the Hilton. I stayed for 10 days in Royal Suite for a fraction of what it would have cost me in the Hilton after reading some of the reviews I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed staying at the Royal River. Ok yes, it could do with a refurbish and would benefit from free internet, but The Royal River has a unpretentious charm that I loved and how long do you need to sit on the internet for? I was traveling on my own and found the staff very helpful and friendly and I was not bothered or harassed outside of the hotel as I was when staying at the Hilton. Like all Hotels avoid the costly trips on offer in the lobby, walk five minuets to the shuttle boat stop called N 16 ( North 16 ) and for 15 baht get dropped off at most of the main attractions . A great evening stop off for riverside combination of modern shopping mail, night bazaar and food is Asiatique. I enjoyed the food and there are plenty of little shops around I will be coming back to the Royal River Bangkok.

A perfect location to see Bangkok torist sites”

Location, hospitality of the staff, breakfast buffet

We use the RR as a base during our visits to this part of the world. On this trip we landed in Bangkok, stayed at the RR, went to Myanmar and returned to the RR, and then went to Laos and returned for the 3rd time for 3 more days before returning to USA. The RR is next to the Boat Stop no. 16. The boats stop running at 19:00 but it runs all day like a river bus. In 10 to 15 minutes and 40 baht (about $.50 usd) my wife and I zip to boat stop 9 (the palace, the Temple and many canal trips) and lots of local tourist shopping, to boat stop 7 which is the Yahoudi River Front pavilion filled with restaurants on the river, boat stop no. 5 which is the edge of china town, the flower market and another pavilion of fine restaurants and shopping, or boat stop 1 which is the connection point for he Bangkok Highspeed overhead city train system to quickly get around the interior of Bangkok. These would cost between $7 and 20 dollars USD to take a taxi to and take between 45 minutes to an hour of traffic. Next to the RR is a 7-11 which we found to be convenient to grab a snack, or beverage at before we went to our room. 1 walkable block away 2 river dinner ships leave every night for a fun 2 hour river cruise - about $45 USD pp for buffet and about $14 USD to order from a menu that has no English. They are 10 stories of rooms, many of which have small balconies with chairs and tables that overlook the wonderful Chao Phyao River. The room size is generous and all of the ones we have stayed at with balconies have a small refrigerator and safe. The hotel is about 1 hour taxi ride $20 USD from the BKK airport or Don Mueng airports during rush hour or 45 minutes off time. Always use public taxis and not limos.

Great location”

Large deluxe rooms with huge balcony overlooking Chao Phraya river. Lovely pool for relaxing after sightseeing.
Food. Not impressed with menus and every meal we ordered from room service and riverside restaurant was only luke warm. This definitely needs improvement.

We stayed at the Royal River for 4 days in January. This was our second stay at this hotel. The location is great, being away from the chaos and traffic of Bangkok but not too far to get to sights. The public riverboat goes from just around the corner and is a fantastic way to get to avoid the Bangkok traffic. The deluxe rooms are huge with balcony overlooking the river where you can watch the river traffic. The swimming pool and jacuzzi was great for relaxing after a days sightseeing. The only thing that spoilt it for us was the food that was always served luke warm.

Excellent value for independent travelers”

A reasonably priced quality hotel on the riverside

The Royal River is a large hotel on the riverside. It is outside of the central downtown area of Bangkok, so is not in any of the main tourist districts. There is an express boat pier pretty much in front of the hotel, which is great for those who prefer the relative calm of travel on the river, and who are happy to explore Bangkok's public transport system. Personally this is what I love about the Royal River's location - but I know that it won't suit everyone. The Riverfront rooms are spacious and clean with very comfortable beds and linens. They all have big deep decks. The bathrooms are large and adequate. I would not recommend the other rooms so highly however. The plan of the hotel shows many undesirable pokey internal rooms. I'd guess these are mostly booked by the many charter tour groups that always fill the hotel. The staff are consistently patient, kind and lovely, but often cannot be very helpful as they often just don't seem to know the answers. I suspect this is also because the hotel is geared to catering for tour groups rather than individual travelers. So id you need a lot of information and transport support from your hotel this is probably not the place for you. But if you are an independent holiday maker who wants quality, good value, riverside accommodation in a more peaceful setting in an more 'local Bangkok' district, this will tick all the important boxes.

Excellent riverfront views!”

Chao Prya River view, very comfortable deluxe riverfront room with balcony, and included a great breakfast.

I have stayed at the Royal River Hotel several times over the past ten years. My most recent stay in Feb 2014 continued to be an excellent lodging choice. Spend the extra money to book a deluxe riverfront room with a balcony. Very romantic and beautiful views of the river and Bangkok skyline. The buffet breakfast has Western and Thai selections, all very tasty. It is a good value choice.

always a pleasure”

River view, breakfast buffet, proximity to river boats

River view: make sure you get a room numbered n04-n17! The Royal River has a great location in coming from the Southern Bangkok Bus Terminal, and it provides easy access to river boats along the Chao Phraya. The breakfast buffet is spectacular, and the staff are great. There was a very noisy Chinese tour group in the lobby when we arrived, but everyone scattered to their rooms and all was OK. The staff at the Royal River are great.

Great hotel, great location by the river”

Lovely view, great rooms, good japanese food, nice terrace restaurant, good price

I stayed only one night, but have allready decided to return next winter for a 10 day visit and stay at the royal river hotel. It´s good value for money. Only negative is they don´t have massage service, even if they say they do. And if you want to stay close to the shopping malls, rather than by the beautiful riverside, this is not your hotel. And internet costs extra. But taxi is cheap, and I rather spend money on that, than an expensive hotel in the center of everything. Also the taxi trip is sightseeing.

Great Riverside hotel.”

Room size (Royal Suite), price, loctaion

We stayed 2 nights in a Royal Suite on the 7th floor. The rooms were huge, maybe a little too big for two people!! Great views of the Chao Phraya River from 3 balconies. Only short walk to express taxi boat pier to all the attractions of Bangkok. The hotel was clean and breakfast was good with a selection of dishes to choose from. Would stay here again if the area. We could not find any fault with this hotel, but I guess it comes down to individual guest expectation.

Great Holiday”

The customer service was excellent. I travelled alone and arrived at 3am. The staff helped me so much and were very pleasant. The Superior room I stayed in was very clean and tidy. Everything i expected.
To be perfectly honest, I cant complain about anything. Except maybe a little more Australian food on the menu.lol

my stay at Royal River Hotel Bangkok was very pleasent. I was travelling by myself, and had a procedure done at Yahnee Hospital, So this Hotel was very close and convenient to everything I needed. The staff were very nice and helpful when I came back to my room after the hospital, as I was very sore, they helped me with my bags and helped with little things like puuting phone on my bed so I call reach it and call if i needed help or room service. The Hotel was clean and very welcoming. I will be recommending all my friends to stay there when they are visiting Bangkok.

Great New Year's Eve Location”

Size and cleanliness of room was perfect. Helpful staff. Thai food we had on the deck was good.
Shelf above toilet was not installed properly, so a drinking glass that we set there fell off. We cleaned it up as best we could, having nothing to use for sweeping or wiping up glass. Then, the hotel added a charge to our bill for clean up! Complimentary water is provided in glass bottles. Water in the frig is in plastic bottles and you have to pay for them. ...mmm... Hot tub at the pool didn't work. Seems strange, since this is the high tourist season in Bangkok.

This hotel had great rooms at a great price through Agoda and perfect views of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River. We enjoyed ourselves, with our friends, this New Year's Eve, watching fireworks, under a full moon. It was picture-perfect. New Year's Day we had fun at the pool. It seemed small for the size of this hotel, but there was only one other family at the pool that morning, so it was not crowded at all. Also, very clean. We live in Bangkok and have enjoyed staying here for "vacation" weekends, and to entertain friends.

Beautiful Older Hotel ”

Location, price, view of the river, and great staff

The Royal River is an older hotel, but it's still mostly beautiful. The beautiful marble floors, marble wall bathrooms and wood work show that no expense was spared when the hotel was built in the 1980's. My stay was pleasant, check in was quick and easy and the staff was polite and professional. It is worth the slight extra cost to get one of the Deluxe River View Rooms, the view of the River and the City is great. The furnishings in the room, like the hotel were older, but very high quality and there was plenty of hot water. The price I paid was a very good value, especially on the New Years Holiday weekend. The breakfast buffet was basic but good.

Great location but shuttle boat destination change”

Riverside location near public Wharf

i have stayed here many times & the complimentary shuttle boat used to take me to river city wharf, wherefrom i could easily get to taksin bride & the rts. but now the hotel boat goes to temple of dawn on same side of river. not only was there no return shuttle boat, but i had to pay to cross the river and then pay again to reach taksin bridge. the hotel needs to realise that not all guests are sightseers and some, including myself, actually enjoy travelling around bangkok by public transport. the shuttle boat should stop at least one public wharf to provide a valuable and convenient service to guests.

great hotel with great rooms”

best part of the hotel was the view and the large rooms. loved the balcony room. nice and quiet if you have had surgery.

The staff were helpful and everything was clean.I chose the royal river hotel because of its close proximity to yanhee hospital as I was having cosmetic surgery there. We originally chose a standard room but when we got there my friend decided to upgrade to balcony room with river views as she loved to sit on balcony and watch all the boats go by. We also enjoyed catching the free shuttle boat supplied by the hotel which took us really close to bangkok shopping area and was only a cheap taxi ride from drop off point to shopping central. MY friend also was picked up from hotel for sightseeing tour. The biggest thing that was lacking in the area was that when you were finished convalesing there was no night life and not many restaurants in area.I would probably reccomend that when you are ready for some more activity that you move to central bangkok. Royal River Hotel in Bangkok”

1. Near riverside, good view 2. Room is clean and quiet 3. Nice bar with very good view near the river
A little bit far from city center

Royal River Hotel is very close to the river, you can watch the river from your window. There are several nice restaurants and bars in walking distance and close to the river. You can enjoy very local style food there. The hotel is a little bit far from the city center, but you can take boating from a dock which is also in walking distance to the famous sites like grand palace. You can also take hotel's boat to enjoy the night view along the river. Overall speaking, this hotel is very good, very quiet and clean. I recommend this hotel to my friends

Wonderful Staff at the Royal River”

Great view of the river Friendly staff clean, comfortable room
Lunch buffet was expensive compared to other places

This was my second stay the the Royal River Hotel. I was welcomed back by staff. The second I pulled up in my taxi the bellboys took my suitcases and welcomed me. The room is large, clean and comfortable. The view of the river is great from the large balcony. I enjoyed the free boat ride and complimentary breakfast buffet. It was nice to be away from the bustle of downtown and the taxis are so cheap it doesn't cost much to get places.

Nice hotel good location”

good breakfast 24 hour coffee shop very clean

This was a good hotel we would stay there again. The location on the river was good with acces to water taxis and there was always something happening on the river. Close to Royal palace which is a must see in Bangkok. The Pink Loha shopping centre is only a short taxi drive away and it has some very good restaurants. Their is also a great restaurant next to Royal River Hotel on the River side. Just outside the hotel complex is a good laundry and a massage and beauty salon. It is cheaper to use the internet down the road then in the hotel.

Hotel is a little out of the way.

The stall at The Royal River were very friendly and most understood and spoke english. A wide selection of food for breakfast. Very clean. We had a great view of the river. Nice resturants close by within walking distance. Staff was very helpful getting us a cab or river shuttle. We will stay there again. Great hotel at a very nice price.

Take a break at the Royal River”

There are much newer and glitzier places, but the RR more than delivers in its price range, especially if you get a river view. Great hard-working staff, a far better than average breakfast buffet, and a laid-back atmosphere. A bit on the older side, but spotlessly clean and constantly redecorated. Again, if you need to be in the center of the action at all times, you'll hate it. But if you love the romantic idea of being right on the river and watching its parade of cargo and passengers go by all day, then watching Bangkok light up at night, you can do it for $60-70 here, versus $350 downriver.

Great riverside location but has gone downhill”

lovely river view, easy access to the chaopraya express boats, good (no longer great) breakfast

we've been staying at the royal river during our stays in bangkok for nearly a decade, but this time we noticed a real change. the breakfast buffet used to be truly sumptuous; it's still better than most, but there's been a significant decline in the number of options (no more omlettes, and the vegetable dishes we used to enjoy are gone). most startling was the disappearance of the in-room hot water pot and coffee mugs--there is now only a hot water pot in the hallway, which is only plugged in during the early part of the day! (no mugs either; you have to bring a glass from your room) the mini-bar items have also disappeared (though oddly, the price list still remains!), as have the robe and slippers. judging by the huge number of buses in the parking lot, we suspect that the hotel has changed its focus to package tours, and that that this may have resulted in untraceable losses of some in-room items. in any case, if you want an early-morning cup of coffee, bring your own supplies! given that the price has also gone up significantly over the past few years, we will probably look for another riverside option for our next visit.

A PLEASURE TO STAY AT”

Staff are 1st class. river views are good. Peter(concierge ) was incredibly helpful trying to connect to internet.
Internet server is inadequate. Bed felt like sleeping on boards. Pillows felt like sleeping on rocks. Beer prices at bar put me off having dinner there.

Although I have some criticisms of this hotel,it's worth remembering the Royal River is 3 Star and as such is good value for money. Bangkok is so huge that you can't tell if Royal River is central or not but being on the river is a good landmark to find your way back to the Hotel. It has an 80's decor which doesn't detract from this Hotel, it rather adds to it, giving an old worlde charm. The staff are exemplary, so friendly, smiling and helpful, I would go back just for that. The rooms are spacious with great river views but my bed was like a rock. Okay if you like a hard bed,but not for my back. Yes, I would go back but I would need a softer bed to convince me of staying.
