My family and I stayed on 31 December 2022 for the new year celebration. I am lucky that the hotel is near to Balai Kota Surakarta, where the Ramayana dance was performed. it is close to the hotel, and we just have to take a walk from the hotel to the venue. about facilities, the bed, bathtub, and breakfast, are great. we enjoy staying in The Royal Hotel

Very great location, at the heart of Solo”
You will feel the authentic Solo ambience when you enter the hotel. Room was spacious, staff was great. We arrive at night and when the see us, 2 adults with 3 kids, the staff suggest to put the twin bed together and also put us on connecting room without us asking. Surrounding area is great, many good food nearby, also walking distance to Pasar Gede and Balai Kota. I like it most then Solo Baru area.

Very nice stay experience”
The location is soo strategic. Very close to keraton, klewer, kauman batik. At night you can walk to Galabo or naik becak to ngarsopuro to find dinner or snacks. There's a bathtub in every room. We got superior room with connecting door and it was spacious enough. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We got our room cleaned and new ammenities every day. The swimming pool was fine.

Everything is great. I put staff review in 4 stars due to the less friendly and warm only..They're still doing their job well and nice, just that they barely smile and/or showing hospitality. I remember only 1 receptionist staff and 1 house keeping staff who do the job really well, it's really nice to get the response from them, but too bad they don't wear nametag so I can't shout their names here. But overall, really great. Thank you for the service. Stay safe, happy, and healthy :)

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and in a great location for visiting the sights of Solo. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is a bit rundown (the sinks don't drain properly, the TVs are very old and the lifts are old and slow) however this did not impact our stay as we were out the majority of our time in Solo. The staff are friendly and there is a nice variety of both Indonesian and Western options at breakfast. I would recommend this hotel as long as you don't want all the mod cons.

The location is strategically in between 2 palaces (walking distance to both Hadiningrat Palace and Mangkunegara Palace). The interior of the hotel is beautiful and the staffs' services are superb! It's passed by the tram and trans solo bus. Walking distance to Pasar Klewer and Pasar Gede. Very convenient to have a morning run surrounding the area.

Great stay in the heart of Solo!”
Upon check in, we receive an upgrade from Executive to Junior Suite. The room is really big, with extra beds will suit a family with children. Bed and pillows are extra-comfy. The hotel seems quite old, but maintained well. Quality of amenities is more of a 4-star than 5-star, but it is good value for money and their service is truly good. The only thing I'm less satisfied about is the bathtub and the surrounding area is a bit dusty, so we need to wash it first before using it. It's located within walking distance to a lot of attractions in Solo, so we could park our car in the hotel and walked to Kampung Batik Kauman, Pasar Klewer, Pasar Gedhe, Keraton Surakarta & Pura Mangkunegaran, Pasar Barang Antik Triwindu, Museum Keris, Museum Danar Hadi. If you don't mind walking a bit further, Kampung Batik Laweyan in also just about 30mnts walk from the hotel. It is also within walking distance to great food like Nasi Liwet & Cabuk Rambak Bu Parmi, Gudeg Ceker Margoyudan Bu Kasno, Tengkleng Klewer Bu Edi, etc. You can also find jajan pasar & pecel in Pasar Gedhe

I got my room in 9th floor, number 908. I am super happy with my view, fyi i booked superior room. The room is super clean. Actually i wanna taste the breakfast but this location is very strategic to street culinary.

Spent 1 night at this hotel; the service is excellent but busy on the weekends so the staff is underman. Parking always full but can do valet. The room is clean but smells like a wet towel. Overall OK but will try other hotels.

Thin walls”
The stay could've been perfect. The hotel is beautiful, it is a gallery of Javanese culture. Our main concern is that these rooms have very thin walls. Unfortunately, there were groups of people staying next to our room and they were chatting and laughing loudly until past midnight. We called front desk, but they didn't do much to tell them to stop.

Best location, just between two historical monarch palace, with adequate facilities, cleanliness, and other standard services. The city is so & so, but still recommended to visit. The staffs are actually helpful — but don't expect them to reply your mails.
