Nice appearance, friendly staff”
I checked in late, but the staff were very nice to greet me. We stayed on the third floor, and the stairs were steep and narrow, making it difficult for my mother. The hostel was very clean and pretty overall. I felt comfortable in the wooden interior. The water came out well, the air conditioner worked fine and there were no insects. The other staff on the next day was also kind. The cafeteria on the first floor of the property is open early in the morning. I had a quick meal because of the early travel schedule, was good taste. The price is also not very expensive. I would like to stay here next time.

Fantastic stay in Bangkok”
We stayed here for four night while visiting Bangkok. The hotel is located at walking distance from the metroline (Sanam Chai station). Be advised that there are two buildings, the main building with reception is right at the entrance to the soi, while a second building is inside the soi. We knew this in advance so, we went to check in at the main building. The girl working the front desk then walked with us to the second building. Here is also a service counter in the small cozy lobby. The girl working at this service counter helped to carry our (heavy!) baggage upstairs. Be advised, the building we stayed in, doesn't have an elevator and I am not sure the main building has one. For us, this was not a problem. We stayed in a standard room with balcony. The rooms aren't as luxurious as some other hotels, but they are very nice, with authentic and vintage styling. The room and bathroom were very clean. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helphul, even for Thai standards.

Perfect stay”
I had a wonderful stay. The room was sparkling clean and bed was nice. I had 3 amazing nights of sleep. It is conveniently located close to the mrt, Wat Arun and Wat Pho. Lots of amenities in the area. And the staff was top notch. I’d recommend to anyone and I hope to go back one day.

Incredible”
This hostel is simply incredible relatively to the price. The location is perfect, the facilities are very beautiful, with style and perfectly clean and the staff extremely nice and helpful. We had stayed at other hostels in bangkok and the Royal Tha Tien was BY FAR the best!

Lovely room in Bangkok Old Town!”
This room and location is perfect for those wanting to stay in a quiet part of Bangkok Old Town, only 5 mins walk to Sanam Chai MRT. Great value compared to more established hotels in the same location. Book it!

Value for the money in perfect spot”
Location is the key - the property is just outside the border of Wat Pho and in walking distance from Golden Palace. Also there's a great coffee nearby (place is called Baan ThaTien) with quite a good kitchen on the corner, green curry recommended. Also you can search for affordable coffee or restaurant with a riverside view to take a drink while viewing the sunset with Wat Arun Ratchawararam on the foreground. Had a clean spacious room with perfectly working A/C and everything else. Staff was very helpful in all ways they could. If you're planning short stay in Bangkok with a visit to Golden Palace and/or Wat Pho - search no more - this is the place.

Great little guesthouse!”
The value for money is most excellent. Location is fantastic. Very clean, and the room was cleaned every day which is not often the case for the price. Our only 'complaint' is that the wifi is pretty weak and inconsistent. This is ONLY a problem if you are working while on holiday here (which I was). However, there are nearby cafes which do have stronger wifi. Altogether, one of the best places I've ever stayed in Thailand.

Interesting place, not keen on the surroundings”
We tried this little hotel as a change from our normal guesthouse. After a slow start we got on well with the woman at Reception. Room and bathroom were fine. We just didn't take to the surrounding places. Perhaps we were unfortunate that it was Valentine's Day. The first three restaurants said they were full and said it without a smile. The fourth restaurant was charging 2000 baht a couple. Gulp! And their main course was raclette. They don't charge that in Switzerland. So we won't stay there again.

Fantastic service and low price at a great location, with very basic facilities.”
The staff (particularly Mina and Dear) was absolutely incredible in helping me locate a phone I had accidentally left in a taxi. Dear went especially above and beyond the call of duty to help me track it down.

Comfy room, right next to Grand Palace and Wat Pho, in a lively neighbourhood”
The reception area is far from impressive. Our room was large. We were in the front/roadside, but the room was really quiet. Great quiet airco as well, good shower, very nice bed. The staff was really helpful and we could leave our luggage on the last day in a secure room. The hotel is right next to Grand Palace and Wat Pho, in a lively neighborhood with a lot of restaurant options. Several on the riverside, with rooftop and Wat Arun views. Breakfast is not included, but the cafe right next to the hotel served breakfast with excellent coffee. We took a taxi to the hotel from DMK (280 Baht + 130 Baht toll, about 1 hour Friday 16:30PM). To BKK we walked the 5 minutes to the MTR and took the trains (transfer to the City Line). Very straightforward and between 70-75 Baht per person. Taxi to Khaosan Rd was 50 Baht. Great place, would stay again on my next visit to Bangkok

I really enjoyed my stay here...extended it from two days to four...in part because I couldn't get my train to Malaysia , but felt it was a n easy place to be in, good value and really lovely staff who where most helpful, and I love this area of Bangkok. For some, the lack of of nearby train might put a damper on things, but I found the boats super easy to use , cheap and fun. Not so good late at night, but taxis are cheap enough. I Spen two evenings down at the local flower markets and ate at the street restaurant recommended...great food at really reasonable prices., and such a lively atmosphere to eat in...and the floral aromas intoxicating! The room I had was large, beautifully clean and bathroom good. Only things missing for this price of hotel, was bedside tables, reading lights, and Some room decoration...Pictures or photos etc in the rooms to personalise them abit more. A bit too sparse. Maybe some photos of local scenes to fit with the heritage building ? However, the two staff members I met were really very friendly, letting me make my own tea( no facilities in your room) and when there has a hitch with the trains beeping cancelled, helped me out with reorganising travel plans. They seemed to be genuinely concerned for my welfare and went out of their way making phone calls and helping me sort refunds etc. I never had breakfast here as not to my liking, some fresh fruit would have helped...the baked goods on sale are yummy though! t there is a fantastic little eatery in the same street that is all organic and is part of the 'food trail'. Pricey by local standards, but very healthy and delicious. I also used the bar next door , one street up, and had evening drink up there at sunset time..spectacular. Food at their restaurant the Deck, was ok.
