This hostel is simply incredible relatively to the price. The location is perfect, the facilities are very beautiful, with style and perfectly clean and the staff extremely nice and helpful. We had stayed at other hostels in bangkok and the Royal Tha Tien was BY FAR the best!
As close as you can get!”
We were practically inside the Wat Pho! and a block from Grand Palace, and the ferry to Wat Arun. The cafe attached is airconditioned, clean, and has good food and beers! The room was delightful with a private bathroom and shower. Staff are lovely and give you lots of advice.
Felt like family”
It's a great location but a little hard to find as the taxi driver had to circle around a bit. Could use a sign at the end of the Soi. The owner and the host were very welcoming and we became good friends with Ya Ya who manages the place. The rooms are of a large size and the beds are comfortable. All the furniture and fittings are of a high standard. We are looking forward to staying there again when we return from our tour of SE Asia and especially looking forward to seeing Ya Ya again. Highly recommended.
charming, cozy and boutique like”
I really enjoyed this hotel and will come back. Everything was really well done. Fast Internet, nice staff, well maintained, and even lots of English tv channels if you want to watch tv. The only down side was that the sound from other rooms is not perfect but honestly in all its a great place.
valuable stay at riverside and wat po area”
Two of us happened to attend the massage school next to this accommodation, i cannot put emphasis too much about its good location. The staff are very friendly and cordial, and the room was very comfortable. I enjoyed the stay so much that I want to come back again.
Very Good, clean and big room ”
when we arrive and check out in early morning the owner hotel very helpful us , good hotel when you want to see culture site like Golden Palace , Wat pho ( reclining Buddha ), wat arun and near beautiful park
Thai style room”
it was a little bit hectic for us to find where was the hotel by the address given in agoda. It would be better if the hotel or Agoda would identify the soi or alley of the hotel. The hotel was next to the river but the hotel itself didn't face to the river. Anyways, the hotel was near by the attractive area such as WAT PO, or you could be just next to hotel for real thai massage. 7-11 was nearby. If you want to stay in low price but nice room- better stay here, we recommend! then, you could walk to Sala rattanakosin or Sala Arun to dine, relax or get the great view. ( We used to stay at Sala Rattanakosin too-higher price, nice view ever in room, fine restaurant-depend on your budget) Security here was quite ok by the main gate card given to swipe at night. No security person or receptionist there. You could contact the owner by the number given. Breakfast was normal but the staff made it special. She was friendly, informative and approachable. Room was big, new, clean and equipped with basic needs.
It's within walking distance of the royal palace, across the road from Wat Pho and across the river from Wat Arun. If you want to go to Khao San Rd, it's less than 10min by tuk tuk. Being in a small alley by the river, it's also quiet and safe. My room was modern, spacious and clean. The night manager, Lee, was delightful, engaging and helpful. She'll chat with you as well as organise a tuk tuk for you and ensure you pay a fair fare. The only unpleasant aspect is the day manager who has a habit of yelling at guests! I'm not Asian so I am not accustomed to removing my shoes every time I walk into a building. Yes, I forgot more than once. And Yes, I am sure I'm not the only one she's had to ask but it's never acceptable to talk to guests in this manner.
Very good if you want to visit a lot of ancient Thai temples in this area”
My room was on 3rd floor, the highest floor which it was very hot in the day time when i checked-in at 3pm. Although i opened air-conditioner the max and close the curtain, it has still been hot. Then, i needed to leave to travel in nearby areas and come back in the night. Room was quite good with good view to see temples and pagodas. However, it was rather difficult to find restaurants in this area within 10 minute walking (not count 7-11) in the evening & night. Don't interested in my comment if you have plan to travel all the day and come back to sleep only.
Great place to stay”
Near every tourist spots like wat pho, grand palace, wat arun, khao san. But a little far from shopping places. The hostel is clean and the staff are attentive to all the needs. The floor was madeup of wood so be ready to hear footsteps outside but not loud enough to disturb you from a good night sleep. Indeed a great place to stay!
Convenient location with wonderful staff”
Conveniently located within walking distance to Wat Pho and the Royal Palace. You would need a tuk tuk to Khaosan San Rd. 50 Bhat. This property is located on an alley that also has small distribution businesses along it, so there are trucks and industrial noise during the day. But the location otherwise is great! There is a coffee shop at the guesthouse, but breakfast is not included. Turn right out front and there is a 7-11, further, a street market with produce, further yet a pharmacy. Turn left and there are restaraunts, souvenir venders, and the Royal Palace and Wat Pho. The guest house has two buildings. We stayed in the one down the alley near the river. The room was good sized and cleaned everyday. The came equipped with a hair dryer and fridge, but no kettle. The bed was Thai rock hard, but amazingly, we got uses to it. This was a great room for the price. You won't have a great view, but I think most "travelers" would like it.
I was immediately struck by how comfortable the room was. The staff were kind and attentive and I was never disappointed. I slept soundly on the most comfortable bed and found the wooden floor and furniture a most pleasant change from a so called normal hotel experience. I would gladly return to this warm and comfortable hotel.
pleasant& wonderful experience, worth the money”
very pleasant experience during my stay. the owner & the staff & another young boy have provided me all sort of kind assistance and advice (direction to the city, etc) patiently. they are kind and treated us like their friends instead of customer. i felt so safe and grateful. for our first day, due to our late arrival, the owner was willing to stay up late to meet us and even walked us to flower market for dinner. he was kind enough to help us order for dinner and assisted us to plan our trip. although looking for the guesthouse will be challenging for some taxi drivers due to the location, however, always helpful to speak to the drivers (who generally could only understand thai)to direct them to the guest house. everything was wonderful and great, room is nice and clean, worth the value and friendly staff definitely would leave you a good memory. if want to be sceptical, location would be the only concern but i believe its advantages still beat the only flaw.
Great guesthouse with character”
Stayed 4 nights, very comfortable, spotless room. Good AC, hot water & water pressure. NIce design with shiny wooden floors. Close to Wat Po, Palace, ferry to all locations in Bangkok. Close to restaurants beside the river with great view of Wat Po at night, unfortunately not the best gastronomically… Helpful & remarkable staff. Bring the phone number & give it to the cab driver from airport, Pocky (the owner), will be there on the street corner to show the way Right beside the Wat Po massage school where one can get a great massage at the end of a busy day.
very friendly, like friends”
i am in Bangkok for my 1st time and i feel very safe at this place..from there it is easy to go with the expressboat to different places..in this hotel you feel like you are in a family-very friendly staff
Comfortable, cute and conveniently tucked away ”
I really enjoyed my stay here...extended it from two days to four...in part because I couldn't get my train to Malaysia , but felt it was a n easy place to be in, good value and really lovely staff who where most helpful, and I love this area of Bangkok. For some, the lack of of nearby train might put a damper on things, but I found the boats super easy to use , cheap and fun. Not so good late at night, but taxis are cheap enough. I Spen two evenings down at the local flower markets and ate at the street restaurant recommended...great food at really reasonable prices., and such a lively atmosphere to eat in...and the floral aromas intoxicating! The room I had was large, beautifully clean and bathroom good. Only things missing for this price of hotel, was bedside tables, reading lights, and Some room decoration...Pictures or photos etc in the rooms to personalise them abit more. A bit too sparse. Maybe some photos of local scenes to fit with the heritage building ? However, the two staff members I met were really very friendly, letting me make my own tea( no facilities in your room) and when there has a hitch with the trains beeping cancelled, helped me out with reorganising travel plans. They seemed to be genuinely concerned for my welfare and went out of their way making phone calls and helping me sort refunds etc. I never had breakfast here as not to my liking, some fresh fruit would have helped...the baked goods on sale are yummy though! t there is a fantastic little eatery in the same street that is all organic and is part of the 'food trail'. Pricey by local standards, but very healthy and delicious. I also used the bar next door , one street up, and had evening drink up there at sunset time..spectacular. Food at their restaurant the Deck, was ok.
Across the street from Grand Palace”
The staff is wonderful. The hotel is not marked at all so if you are arriving at night bring the phone number and have the taxi driver call. The staff shows up immediately to let you in. Very good location. Walk to grand palace and the river is just behind the hotel.
Intimate, quirky, very friendly”
Pocky and Jaya went out of their way to ensure my safe late arrival, and provided maps and information for my stay. It's away from the hubbub of Kho San Road but that is only 10 mins on the 53 bus. The water taxi's are also no more than 5 mins walk.
Almost refuse to leave the hotel”
Love the cleanliness, amenities (free 2 mineral water inside the cooler, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, conditioner, towels). After long walking time at Wat Po, it's just great that I only need a little time to get back to the hotel and lying on the bed while the cool AC breeze the air. Near Rajadamnern Stadium (Muay Thai stadium), cost around 60-70thb. Near Tha Tien Pier, 7 eleven, and bus stop.
very comfortable place”
This is most like a b&b although breakfast is not free. No matter the standard you have been staying I think youh will be comfortable here. This hotel isnot staffed 24 hours thougn abd we had to make calls from a pay phone to get in at 5 pm. Try to arrange this in advance.
