A charming, cosy English pub, the Running Horse Inn offers modern rooms and has its own restaurant and bar. Nestled in the quiet, pretty village of Littleton, outside Winchester, it has free onsite parking and free WiFi available.
The 15 stylish rooms include Freeview TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Each has its own private bathroom or shower room.
The restaurant offers a varied lunch and dinner menu, prepared with seasonal, locally sourced produce. A choice of 3 Sunday roasts and homemade desserts are served, as well as a full breakfast menu. You can enjoy locally brewed Upham ales and a selection of wines.
The Running Horse offers a lovely countryside setting, a 25-minute drive from the New Forest National Park. Alternatively, the attractive former capital city of Winchester is just a 12-minute journey in the car. Winchester’s major landmark, Winchester Cathedral is one of the largest in Europe. Perfect place to stay”
friendly staff, excellent kitchen, nice location
I stayed here for the second time now and I cannot say anything else then before.
The hotel is in a very nice location, far from the noise and traffic of Winchester, but still close enough to visit the town. There's regular bus service, although it may not be the most frequent bus I've seen. If you have a car, then it's perfect.
The hotel provides parking space, WiFi - these are all included. The breakfast (also included) is really good, freshly made (allow time for the chef to cook your selection from the menu). Continental is also an option.
For dinner, there is a short (which is usually a very good sign), but varied menu. I've tried most of the courses and was never disappointed.
The staff is very friendly, helpful. The whole atmosphere is really nice. No surprise, the restaurant and the bar is usually full with locals as well as hotel guests.

Nice surrounding, nice staff, nice food”
very helpful staff, extremely good kitchen
The hotel is close enough to Winchester to do sightseeing, but far enough to be in a nice, quiet environment, no big traffic, no noise.
The staff was extremely helpful during the stay.
The rooms are in a separate wing, bungalow style, they open on the garden. Mine was a bit cold for me, but that's usual in the UK. When asked for, I got a mobile heater, solving the problem completely.
Breakfast is absolutely delicious, cooked, the menu contains usual and surprising elements. Dinner is even better, I would give Michelin stars to the chef.
There is ample parking, free, and free WiFi (a little weak in my room).
