This was our first time in Yangon and after reading tons of reviews, we decided to pick SAT hostel. The location isright next to China town where you can find lots of street food stalls easily. From here, you can walk for 15 mins to get to Bogyoke market, Sule Pagoda. The room was very nice and clean although you have to go out to take a bath. The dinning room is very clean and well equipped which I really love. The staff was friendly and super helpful. They made us feel like home. I highly recommend SAT hostel for couples if you want to find a good location, cheap and clean place.

Awesome affordable hostel in Yangon Chinatown with super friendly staff!”
Where do I begin? Cho Cho Aung and her staff are excellent and provide superb customer service that goes above and beyond. They are helpful in every way from booking bus services, arranging taxis, reserving massage appointments, giving general suggetions to assisting with/storing luggage or providing hot water when one is feeling ill. Breakfast every morning was a different and delicious Myanmar serving. We had mohinga as well as the general coffee, tea, OJ, fruit and toast with jam. Hot showers are located in 3 stalls, one on the second floor and 2 on the first floor. Stairs into the reception and to the second floor can be a little steep and not ADA friendly. Wifi was ok, best on first floor reception area and in eating area, spotty in the rooms at times. One thing I personally do not prefer is smoking is allowed in the breakfast eating area anytime of the day which could be bothersome if you are sensitive to smoke but it doesn't seep into the rooms when the doors are closed. If you are sensitive to noise be sure to request a room that does not have a wall facing the street side otherwise you may be woken up by the car honks in the morning. The Chinatown area is super convenient to many delicious food areas as well as the city mart where you can exchange money but understand that the area has tons of street vendors which may result in garbage and smells urine smells right when you enter into the street. Taxis are easy to wave down in the area, be sure to ask for a map of Yangon and discuss price with your taxi before your ride begins. SAT also provides AC in the room and a list of suggested places to eat, play and explore which was a VERY nice touch! Also can purchase a bottle of water for cheap. Thank you SAT for a lovely stay at an AMAZING price, your staff really are top notch!!

Pleasant stay despite strange booking by Agoda”
I booked a room at the SAT Hostel by Agoda, and got a reply that my booking was confirmed and complete. But when I arrived at the SAT Hostel, no room was left anymore. The owner showed it to me on her computer: she had refused my request by Agoda since the hostel was fully booked. So Agoda never should have sent me an e-mail statig that everything was fine, because it wasn't. At the same time, Agoda had taken money from my creditcard already, so for a non-existing room. The owner was very friendly and tried to help me out of the situation. In the end I even stayed in a very tiny room, behind some machines. That was OK for me, as I was just staying 2 nights. The owner even paid me back the money that Agoda took from me, and said she would handle it with Agoda. Great service!!!

Excellent staff and quirky rooms - Fantastic.”
Really good. We booked in Yangon airport and arrived before the hotel knew we were coming. We received a free drink whilst waiting and the staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome. We received maps and guides, a map of the local area, early check in to the room, towels and even a cup of tea brought to the room. The staff booked our bus tickets and ordered a taxi for us when we were running late without us even asking. The SAT hotel gave us our first real taste of Myanmar and we knew we would love it here. I can't rate them highly enough. The only down side was the breakfast which could have benefitted from a little more fruit but that's just my personal tastes. The city is very polluted and this comes part and parcel with the location. All round a great little find that is spotlessly clean and comfortable. We would stay again.

The staff does the great things!”
This guesthouse is very clean and hygienic. All day long working in showers and toilets. Very near to Chinatown. But the staf is is the thing to go to the SAT. The all work together, they all are same friendly and polite. They can plan your trips in Yangon or abroad and mak reservations. They have own taxi, so you know its for a reasonable price. I was there at New Year and they made a little ceremony and prepared food for the customers. A real personal treatment. A boy even sewed my jeans, when tear.

Friendliest hostel I've ever stayed at!”
Only stayed one night, but was blown away with the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The staff here rock! Location wise, the SAT is more or less exactly the right location to stay in Yangon. Rooms are naturally very basic, but the common room facilities and shared showers are all clean and decent. Wi-Fi is fast and works throughout the building.

Good Hostel, especially location”
I stayed one night at the SAT Hostel to get my flight from Yangon. I arrived very early in the morning by nightbus and could immediately check in which was very nice so I could sleep again a little bit. I had a single bed room and it was okay. The hostel is located at a very busy street so it's a little bit noisy, especially during the day. I had some ants in my room but since I only stayed one night I did not really care. The staff was very friendly. They gave me a map and explained a little bit where to go or what to do. If you wanna visit the Shwedagon Pagoda it's also possible to walk from the hostel (around 20/25 minutes). Overall, it's a good value for money and I would stay there again if it's only for a short time.

Great location and staff, reasonable price”
I loved the staff (they went above and beyond our whole time there, spoke good English, helped us get cabs for local prices, and just overall great!) and its in a great location, walking distance from lots of wonderful places. Reasonably clean (although some ants), great aircon and hot showers. Simple but good buffet breakfast. Downsides worth noting: 1. In Yangon, sometimes they turn off the power at night. The hotel has a generator for lights, but no aircon during the outages (and its hot!!). But, thats not really the hotels fault, and is probably the same in every hotel in the area 2. Its on a busy street, so it can get pretty noisy in some of the rooms around 6am.

This place is only 5 min walk from 19th street, the rooms and bathrooms are super clean. Breakfast is burmese style or toast and jam, it was strange that they served Coffee + Tea + Juice, usually we have to choose between options, they just gave me every 3 options for breakfast, funny... Overall, a very nice new Hostel in Yangon

the best staffs ever”
The best staffs ever in myanmar. The lady in the morning, the lady in the evening, the guy in the night, all of them were so great and kkind.one thing that i regret is that i promise to visit their hostel this weekend again, but due to plan change, i cant. Sorry for that. BUt next time i visit yangon, i will definitely come back here again

Stayed here for 4 nights. Room was clean (although not cleaned daily during stay) and comfortable by current Yangon standards and at this price. The staff were lovely. Excellent location to explore downtown,but it can get noisy with traffic noise.

Superb for Downtown Yangon”
The SAT Hostel is at Lanmadaw Plaza, right in Yangon's Chinatown district. Super to walk to train central station, Bogyoke Aung San Market, Sule Pagoda, and of course into the many nifty small streets with thousands of street vendors and street food and a great night life. The downside of the location: Of course it's a bit noisy there. Facilities are cleaned and restocked regularly, though you might end up without toilet paper sometimes anyway - lots of people there! - or bitch about the mould in the shower or the occasional mosquito dropping by. But then again, this is Myanmar, so if that bothers you then you have chosen the wrong country anyway. Also, ask the staff if you're going out and like your room cleaned, just hanging out the "please clean room"-sign didn't work for me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Any problems? Tell them. Any questions? Ask them. They'll help. Although they seemed a bit overstrained to communicate with a deaf traveler. (Little hint: We don't like it if someone uses other people to talk to us, even if it might seem easier. Just write a sentence or two on a paper and we're happy.) Breakfast is tasty and authentic and definitely a big plus. You also can watch the road below while dining: It's a thrilling view to watch the buzz there.

Staff hospitality is unbeatable!”
So far I loved this place just because the staff were so nice with smiles on their face, ready to serve you what you might have come up with. A bit downsides, I would say a single room with no window is pretty small and no cleaning during my stay (4 nts). However, I will consider to stay here again once I happen to return to Yangon.

Clean but just OK”
The rooms were clean, but basic, and the staff was friendly. They provided fresh fruit in the rooms and a bottle of water. There was also a mini-fridge with a mini bar, which was nice. The price for a single room was really good. The bathrooms are wet bathrooms (shower and toilet in one), some have hot water, and others don't. But there's someone cleaning the bathrooms and general common areas multiple times per day, which I liked. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The road noise got incredibly loud during the day. If you intend to sleep in, and you are a light sleeper, you won't be able to do it here. Also, there was definitely a bird roosting inside the wall near my room. There was a mirror that was covering a metal mesh grate that had been painted the same color as the wall. The roosting noises were coming from that area, so I can only assume that a bird built its nest in the wall and spent its time there during the heat of the day, which is when I heard the bird noises the most. Aside from the road noise, the other bad thing about this hostel is that they allow smoking in common areas, which I think is disgusting. I don't want to be eating my breakfast next to someone puffing on a cigarette inside the hostel. Eww. If smoke doesn't bother you, this may not be a problem, but to me, there is no excuse whatsoever for indoor smoking. The location is good, but I'd probably try to find some place a bit quieter w/ a non-smoking policy next time.

Exceptional”
I do not normally leave reviews nor do I normally stay in hostels so I was a bit skeptical. Do not judge this place by the many stairs nor outside look. The price was very cheap, staff very friendly and facilities are clean. I could not ask for more for my late arrival and early departure. This place truly surprised me and would stay here again.
