The Sebel Launceston Hotel is modern, stylish, and an incredible value for your money. The location makes visiting the museums, galleries, and restaurants downtown quick and easy, and for urban escapes, the Tamar River is just a short stroll through the historic suburbs. One or two bedroom and luxury suites have separate state-of-the-art kitchens and chic, comfortable living rooms plus many modern amenities including a widescreen TV, high speed internet access, and generously priced mini bar. The open terrace restaurant serves regional wines and delicious dishes prepared with the freshest Tasmanian seafood.

It was ok with a few reservations = time to give the others a go. POSITIVES. Comfortable and clean bed. Clean bathroom. Toilet and bathroom separate to each other. Central location. We chose a 1 BR suite so we can have space, we got it. NEGATIVES. Drab decor, lacks vibrance and imagination. No wall art with ample blank wall space. Mish mash of colours and style with furniture, gives feeling they just bung anything in there. Curtains were ripped/torn (Reported to reception so we were blamed). Kitchen bench area has a cupboard either side. Whoever designed it needs a boot up the proverbial. Left side cupboard opened the wrong way. You had to open it and then walk around it. Needs to be hinged on the other side. Can hear plumbing sounds/usage from neighbouring rooms. Finally, don't know if this is just us, but who needs a full length mirror in the toilet. I for one don't need to sit and look at myself on the said service, hahaha.
Excellent location, clean and well equipped for cook and wash ”
Mould in the bathroom. Asked to change room after first night. 2nd room as bad and dirty showers”
Upon complaining about the disgustingly mouldy bathroom, reception agreed to our request to switch rooms. The alternative room was not ready, so we left our belongings in the original room and went for a drive. Reception later telephoned to inform us that our room was ready, and they had moved our suitcases to the new room. We enquired whether our items from the fridge had also been moved (they hadn't). When we arrived at the new room, the bathroom was still unacceptably mouldy, and previously refrigerated items (including chicken!) had been unceremoniously dumped on top of an item of luggage outside the fridge.
Nice hotel/service apartment. Staff is very friendly. The Seaport, Cataract Gorge Reserve, City Park, City Center are all within walking distance from the hotel, very convenient.
Great hotel but borderline over expensive.”
Great upper class, modern, centrally located hotel. One bedroom room adequately sized with separate living area to bedroom (double glazed windows for sound proofing). Bathroom clean and modern with deep bath. Toilet separate from bathroom however fails to have any ventilation installed. Reasonable balcony to enjoy the outside atmosphere without leaving your room. The hotel has undercover parking however is an additional $8 p/n which is quite surprising considering the price of the room (I paid $289 p/n). The hotel, whilst containing great luxury rooms, fails to have any other guest facilities like a health centre/pool, etc. There is a Market Place restaurant on the ground level which has a price tag along with the hotel. Overall a comfortable hotel and a good location. 4/5 stars.
We stayed 3 nights in the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was a 3 minutes walk to James Boag brewery, and a 5 mins drive to the shopping strip in Launceston. If you wanna head off to the Tamar Valley, it is just a short drive away. Only set back is we were asked for parking fees which we thought were included in our booking price. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay. Will come back again for sure.
Overall, no complaints, we were happy”
Overall the hotel was good. Very clean, the bed was great, the staff provided good advice on the area. We were a bit concerned when they had ear plugs in the room saying the town bell was quite loud at night time. However we did not hear it and it was not an issue. The location was a little bit further out then we liked (but we are very picky in this regard) and there's pump gym across the road that you could hear. Overall, no complaints, we were happy.
We had a lovely breakfast the next morning, but there is only one staff member on in the dining area on Sundays. It was great to see the reception team and chefs all helping out with the situation, but wouldn't be a bad idea to have more staff available. All in all, we enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were well set out and very clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent and the location is fantastic.
REALLY GOOD, BUT A COUPLE OF THINGS ”
While the staff are pleasant at reception, you could do with a general tourist map of the area, not just one of Launceston. The restaurant was limited and could do with a couple of plain dishes. We stayed 4 nights and only ate dinner there once despite having Accor Plus membership. Most staff were excellent, but maybe a few need training on how to handle something different to what the procedure says. Fortunately another staff member stepped in to correct the situation. Interestingly we thought "THE" Clocktower may have been an issue with the bell ringing, but somewhat surprisingly it did not bother us. My wife and I are both light sleepers too! Would definitely stay there again. Tony
Not A Hotel Asking for Hotel Prices”
This has to be the worst Sebel hotel we have stayed. It carries the name of a hotel, but in fact is a serviced apartment with little hotel comfort or facility. It is near the city center, but you still have to walk a long way (15 to 20 minutes) to go to places. Same with shopping and restaurants. Cleaniess is only superficial, and you can tell they don't frequently vacuum the carpet if ever. We have made a few advanced requests, but none have been looked after at all. There is no vent in the fully enclosed toilet or bathroom - is this housing approved? Front desk staff was frendly and helpful. It is not worth the money we are spending. Would suggest staying in serviced apartments rather than this "hotel", as it is clearly too expensive for the quality it provides.
Perfectly OK place but a little overprices”
I wish hotels would have curtains which a) close fully, not leaving a gap b) are light proof. The Sebel is fine but a bit overpriced. It's ripoff charging $8 for off street, but not secure, parking in Launceston.
Next to Cornwall Sq transit, redline/tassielink”
Enjoyable(comfy big room with balcony outdoor chairs/table). Convenient(next to Cornwall Sq). Well equipped(Kitchenette). Reception staff offered to sign us up for Le Club Accorhotels loyalty program that came with free wifi, sweets and upgrade to room with spa.
not a good impression”
the last day of my family trip in Tasmania. Only dining was big enough. Toilet and bath were unconfortable to use. especially no ventilation facility at toliet. hotel hall smell with smoke even some in the room. Short stay only one night but the worst impression ever out of Tasmania hotels.
If you want to find a modern, clean, convienient, with nice staff, you can choose it. I stay 1 night in Chrismas Eve. The most suprise thing was I found a Christmas gift in next morning. One disadvantage was Parking fee is required.
great hotel and location walking distance for the venue we wanted loved the room especially with the balcony looking over the street and the trees. All staff we great nothing to much trouble.Food at the restaurant and room service excellent. We will go back next year for the weekend.
Excellent location and superb rooms!”
Prime location with no need to use the car to get around the city. Very close to the Boags Brewery and walking distance to the cataract gorge. The lifts and rooms use card entry and they were a bit temperamental but the reception were quick to put it right. The hotel has a very convenient location for access to the highway in and out of the city. The car park is free to guests even though the parking slip implies a charge of $8 per night. The provision of a free local paper to the room allowed us to find out what was going on locally. The room was very comfortable and the air conditioning was a bonus on the hot days we had there. The bathroom was luxurious with plentiful towels and washing supplies.
quiet hotel with friendly staff”
The room was very specious, comfortable, clean and sufficiently equipped, though some furnishers need to be replaced. Staff was friendly when checking in but night shift was just sitting there getting the job done. Parking lot was always full. It was difficult to find a place to park most of the time. Plus it is not free. Big minus.
The Sebel LST”
Cannot really fault our stay but praise it. We ate at the restaurant the first night and it was very good. Our room was neat clean and tidy. Front desk and telephone service was with service and a smile. All good!
We stayed at this hotel for 2 night to start off our holiday in Tasmania. The location is perfect for exploring the town and surrounds. Warm welcoming lobby and friendly happy staff. Room was great being very clean with surrounding views. Staff we very helpful in suggesting things to do and see in the area. Wonderful hotel, highly recommend.
Great location. our room was really big. it was ideal for our stay. There's also a resto at the lobby. Very helpful staff.
