Beyond Expectations ”

I think I have found the most attractive accommodation in Melaka which is The Settlement Hotel. Having a chat with the staff here, the owner wants to show Baba and Nyonya craftsmanship. The room rates are much cheaper than the 5 star hotel but the services and amenities provided are beyond my expectations. Rooms offered at The Settlement Hotel are: Deluxe Room Queen Deluxe Twin Room Junior Suite King Twin Junior Suite Junior Villa Luxury Villa The Settlement Suite Like: 1) Very friendly, helpful and attentive staffs to make sure a comfortable stay. 2) Clean. 3) Unique and i love the detailing. 4) Comfortable bed and room. The bathtub is big and deep. 5) Complimentary breakfast, delicious taste and varitu of foods. 6) Pocket friendly price. 7) Green. Non-smoking area and lots of trees are planted here. 8) The location is less crowded compared to the city centre and close to various exciting eateries such as Nasi Lemak Ujung Pasir , Perhentian Kuih Ujung Pasir, coin laundry and the distance to the city is about 2km away. 9) One of the hotel's unique features is the art gallery featuring art pieces of an autistic artist; Ping Lian Yeak who began painting since his childhood. http://pinglian.com Dislike: -None-

Never fails to impress!”

Being welcomed back, cleanliness and comfort

We have been staying at this hotel for the umpteenth time and they never fail to impress and welcome us back. The staff are like friends already and are very welcoming. Lim and Arm always welcomes us back! The rooms are really clean and very well appointed for a hotel such as this. We also like the fact that they take a lot of effort in decorating the place according to the festive season. The decor and appointments are tastefully done and it really feels like as though the owner himself decorated the place and in the process put his personal touches to it. The property is well maintained. The carpark is locked at night and your cars are looked after by the hotel's security. We will most definitely stay at the Settlement Hotel whenever we are in Malacca. Truly a Home away from Home.

An excellent hotel”

The staff were very friendly and efficient. The restaurant including breakfast was excellent.

A cool towel and cup of tea at check-in was very welcomed, and the check-in/out were efficient and fast. The restaurant and breakfast were fantastic. While the hotel is a little way out of the centre of Malacca, a free shuttle is available throughout the day and a taxi back was only $5. The Portuguese Settlement is a 5 min walk away with excellent restaurants and beautiful coastline; Fort St John is a 10 min walk away. Other local restaurants are across the road, and a convenience store and laundromat 5 mins away. I would happily book this hotel again for a holiday in Malacca.

An amazing stay in a beautiful and classic hotel.”

Friendly staff, unique decor, clean and cosy

We were disappointed when we could not fly Jogjakarta with the volcano eruption. Impromptu , we booked a trip to Melaka instead. Via Agoda, we found this new hotel, The Settlement Hotel. Thanks to Agoda. The short two days trip to Melaka surprisingly turned out to be a wonderful one. The stay in The Hotel was really good quality. The bed was firm and comfy. We spend the whole day at the hotel, enjoying doing nothing, just chat, eat and relax. The hotel is simple. The surrounding has many very good local and delicious eateries. We tried the best Nasi Lemak, Ikan Assam Pedas and Devil Curry Chicken. Yummie...! We are frequent traveler and have visited many countries and places. I have to rate The Settlement Hotel as a really good choice of hotel for people who just wanted to work, chat and relax. It is truly beautiful and classic. A gem in Melaka. Our short trip in Melaka was really rewarding and was a great break. This is the kind of hotel we should have in Malaysia. Not big but friendly with attentive staff (we are impressed, this is perhaps the only hotel, we don't see cheap foreigners working in). Thanks Agoda for having giving us this choice hotel. A fantastic stay”

We stayed at the settlement hotel for 2 nights and three days when we visited Melacca. The hotel was inaugurated in 2015 and has been very aesthetically decorated. The check in process was swift and room was beautiful. I loved the bath tub in the bathroom - was a free standing type made of Stone. The hotel staff speaks good English and appeared helpful. I would advise that at the time of check in they should talk about their free shuttle service (we found out about it on day 2 when we read one of their menu books kept in the room) and about the protugese settlement area/beach that’s 10 min walk from the hotel (we were lucky that we had a map of the city and that we referred to it). The main part of melacca city itself is 20-30 min walk from the hotel. I would definitely visit this hotel again. Thank you.

Such a gem! Almost everything about this hotel is delightful. I loved the furniture especially. And although our room was small it was cozy n homely. Never have i stayed in a hotel that has elegant teacups in the room! The bathtub was also a very nice touch. My only complaint is maybe the breakfast could have more variety. But overall i really loved my stay there and would definitely come back again. I hv decided to make the settlement hotel the only hotel i would stay in malacca.

Very lovely place but a bit far from Dutch Square”

Ambience, Cleanliness, Service to Melaka Sentral

The Settlement Hotel is a simple yet lovely place. I loved the ambience and cleanliness of the place. The room has a very comfortable bed, the ref has complimentary water and soft drinks and the bathroom has hot shower and a bathtub. The staff are very nice too. The disadvantage of this hotel is the location. It's quite far from the Dutch Square and Jonker Street. You have to take a taxi to go there. Our initial plan was to rent bikes. However, they only rent out bikes from 9am to 6pm. They have shuttle rides to/from Jonker St. so check with them the schedule first so you can plan accordingly. We had a problem when they said that a shuttle would pick us up from the Dutch Square at 9pm. We were there from 8:50 until 9:30pm but the shuttle didn't show up so we just took a taxi back to the hotel for RM20. When we complained, the staff just said that the shuttle was there at 9:10pm and said that we were not there (which I think was impossible since we kept on checking on the cars parked in front of Christ Church). As a compromise, they arranged our free shuttle service to Melaka Sentral the next day, which was really nice of them. Overall, The Settlement Hotel is a nice hotel to stay and relax at when you're in Melaka...and if you don't mind taking the taxi or shuttle to and from the Dutch Square.

Beautiful, unique and pleasant”

This hotel appears unassumingly by the road side and once your stepped inside you will be forgiven for thinking that just for an instance you have been transported to a pocket universe hidden away from the bustling City of Malacca. The decor is classic with a homely feel and yet awe inspiring. The room is uniquely designed, very clean and cozy. The coffee table in the room comes with a china tea set marked with the property's name at the bottom; very nice for a cup of English tea. The bathroom is spacious with a bathtub and separated shower area. The entrance to the parking lot is approximately 50 metres before the hotel main entrance (if you are driving with the hotel coming up on your left) and can be easily missed. The gate was open; didn't see any security on duty. The pool is small and so is the lift. Beside the main building is where the hotel holds its private functions and the music and singing can be heard till late night.

Beautiful room with excellent staff”

Albeit the road to the parking lot is a little run down, the room was stunning and all the staff were efficient and friendly. We even got an upgrade to the largest junior king suite they had, and it was comfortable, stylish and a great value for money. The bathtub and rainfall shower were a major added plus to the comfort of the king sized bed. Complimentary coffee, tea and water were greatly appreciated. The buffet breakfast lasts between 7.30am to about 10am, they do try to switch options day to day, but it was satisfying enough for my partner and I. The hotel is about 15 minutes away from Jonker street (with minimal traffic) and is a nice place to retreat back to to soak in the tub. They also provided a few astro channels for the room. The only downside for my stay was that the wifi didn't work in my hotel room, even when the staff reset the modem. But it connected automatically when in the dining hall. Ultimately it was a splendid stay, and i would go back to The Settlement Hotel.

Very Comfortable and Hassle-free Stay”

Clean and beautiful premises. Cozy and comfortable room. Friendly and attentive staff.

We spent 3 nights at The Settlement Hotel and it was a very pleasant stay. The hotel is new, clean and tastefully furnished. The deluxe room we booked was not very spacious but very comfortable, especially the bed. We slept very well every night! You may hear the noises made by other guests along the corridor but it is not something that a pair of ear plugs can't fix. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and everyone from the duty manager to the car park attendant are always smiling or asking you how your day was. The breakfast spread is nothing to rave about but we liked the porridge and fried noodles/bee hoon. The shuttle service to town takes less than 10 minutes and it wasn't too difficult to get a cab back for MYR15-20. The hotel also provides a return shuttle service for MYR15 but you would need to call them to arrange. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay and I would recommend this hotel to others.

Very recommended”

Me & my family love this place so much. We booked a deluxe-twin room, there is no record of my booking when the time we reached and checked-in. But the process did not take us too long to wait, the staff upgraded us to Settlement Suite (I forgot to ask the reason :D). Everything just perfect, except our bad luck to stay next door to a group of friends which is making noise at the late night & in the early morning. We called the front-desk and the staff took the immediate action (thumb-up). My boy love the bathtub so much. The buffet breakfast has many varieties too (love the nyonya laksa & roti jala). I would receommend The Settlement Hotel to my friend when visit Melaka.

So wrong, yet so right”

Rooms, Washroom, Washroom

I find it hard to properly classify The Settlement Hotel. On one hand, you could note that the hotel is located around 10-15 minutes away from the main attractions in Melaka such as Jonker Walk, even through it's pretty near the Portuguese Village. There is parking, though the parking is pretty limited. And the breakfast is pretty average. However, the moment you enter your room, you WILL be amazed. The room was tastefully decorated, the beds were soft and fluffy, and the shower and bathtub were heavenly. If it wasn't for a need to leave for food, I believe we would have stayed in the room the entire day. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel thoroughly, and despite some reservations about the location and price we are inclined to come back to The Settlement Hotel in the future.

A great stay always”

Return guest recognition, warm, clean, homely environment with genuine and sincere staff

It's our 4th visit to this hotel and I don't see us staying in another hotel anytime soon. Chanced upon this hotel through this hotel and thought we'd give it a try and we're not disappointed. Instead we were in for a surprise when we arrived. The place is very tastefully done up with well appointed guest rooms. The service is always genuine and sincere. Never once did we feel that it was superficial. They even recognised us when we visited for the 2nd time and for the 2 visits thereafter. It's also great to see the many hotel managers who run the place attending to you at the different areas of the hotel. All hotel staff also acknowledge you be it with a simple nod and smile or with a greeting. Carpark facilities are safe and gated and they lock up the car park after 11pm (if Im not mistaken) The rooms are a really warm, cosy and clean. You would find that the rooms are well equipped with the amenities befitting that of a bigger hotel chain. There is even a pillow menu for you. Sadly, they now have to have their pens, notebooks and other convenient amenities for sale as a lot of guest have started to take these items back and it costs a lot to replenish them. Hence the move by the hotel. We still don't get it with the habit of people wanting to grab all the hotel amenities when they travel. Strange. But is a good move to curb the loss. Overall it's always a very comfortable and pleasant stay that we've had when we put up here each and every time. We will keep coming back to this hotel whenever we're back in Malacca. We shan't say more as if you're planning a trip to Malacca, you should really have this hotel on the top of your list and experience the experience we did. You won't be disappointed.

Pleasant stay”

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel... rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was simple and could use some improvement though. I would also suggest adding a games room... that would have been great for the kids.... and maybe add a doorbell or an intercom at the front gate to the reception.... cause we were out late on one of the nights and the gates were locked and it took awhile to get someone to open the gate. Other then that everything else was great and will definitely recommend this hotel. My compliments to the staff at Settlement hotel.

Nice boutique hotel with a relaxed atmosphere”

Very clean, relaxing atmosphere, close to town

We discovered this little gem because a last minute decision to stay in Malacca on our way back from Johor and most other hotels were fully booked. It was a unique stay and was well worth it. We just checked into the Deluxe Queen room and although not too big, it was nicely decorated and even had a spa like tub. There are the more expensive traditional Malay villas available here as well if you want to splurge a bit. The swimming pool was small but nice looking, and an outdoor parking area is available next to the hotel. The really great thing about this hotel is the design. You have to see it yourself to appreciate it as it doesn’t look like the normal run of the mill feel of other chain hotels.

Friendly and attentive staff, located not too close to busy malacca yet pretty close to others attractions (Portuguese village, beach, etc), super cosy and cute hotel

the negative side was only due to its location. pretty far from malacca city or bandar hilir. but as i travel by my own car, i'm not facing any problem bout that. but they do provide one way shuttle service, for free! positive side; fast check in and check out, friendly staff, unique hotel design, super cosy three type pillows, bathrobe is provided, complimentary note book and high quality pen and many more! Pros - room facilities were good. Some 5 star hotels don't even provide iron n ironing board but Settlement hotel have it. - clean room - Don't let the outer layer of the hotel cheats u. Inside its a very relaxing environment. - friendly staff. - good but limited breakfast. Cons - my only cons were the car park. If u don't ask the reception u won't know wher the car park is. But once u found it, its easy access to the hotel with a staff takin care of your car.

Lovely hotel”

Very nice hotel with big clean rooms in the Portuguese settlement area of Melaka. However hotel is not in the city center so if you're not driving it my not be the best option . The breakfast was good and there was a decent spread for the price of the hotel. The decor is done nicely and very quaint. Wish they had a bigger pool and lounge area to relax in the hotel. It's a good option if you will be out and about during the day.
