Impressive 5 Star Stay!”
Amazing! The Shilla has a nice landscape since the hotel is located up the hill. But it's also so convenient because they provide free shuttle bus to Dongdaemun and Myeong-dong for shopping and also free internal shuttle to the subway (which is just down the hill. enjoy the view during the 5 mins walk!) and The Shilla duty free within the hotel's compound itself. It's located at Dongguk University (Exit 5, Line 3) on the subway and it's so convenient to go to anywhere around Seoul. The staff was really attentive and helpful to make my stay in Seoul so much better. Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
Amazing Customized Service”
To be honest and no offense, I found it hard to find a friendly and English-efficient staffs from my previous trips with other stays at other hotels. The last time I was in Seoul last December, it was super cold and the bell-boy stayed inside warm while letting me struggling to find a taxi. But everything is so perfectly different with my recent stay at Shilla. From the bell-boy to the reception (which has everything READY by the time I arrived from entrance to the reception desk), from the sunset view of Namsam tower and refresing urban island to the breakfast, from the fluffy pillows to the Molton Brown toiletries (which I always lay my trust on any hotels with this kinda amenities) ,from the stunning installation of artist Bahk Seong Ghi to the impressive traditional Korean pavillion, I had a very pleasant stay at The Shilla Seoul Hotel. Staffs were helpful and attentive and politely refuse to get tips. I would definitely chose to stay at this marvellous hotel for any upcoming trips
Exceptional service, quality and attention to detail”
We travelled in the countryside for several days before staying one night at the legendary The Shilla hotel in Seoul as a final night in Korea, a little treat for ourselves. It did not disappoint and we were pleasantly surprised with the views to Namsan and over the city with the sense of space and beauty. The rooms were elegantly understated but dripped of quality and great thoughtmanship with design and utility. The room was spacious and the window stood out as a piece of moving art with neat thick black borders enhancing the views. We enjoyed the luxurious bath, shower and clever toilet. What turned out to be a once in a lifetime experience, I hope will now mean several more experience in the near future. My tip is to go sightseeing around the markets, but check out the Shilla duty free first as you might want to make your actual purchases onsite. Also, depending on your room rate, access to the swimming pool may not be included (the Swimming pool is awesome throughout the year)
An ejoyable hotel”
my wife and i live in busan, and when we travel to seoul we like to try out different hotels. the shilla hotel has earned it's five star reputation. it was easy to sleep in the quiet room and comfortable beds. i enjoyed the morning breakfast buffet, although i had to pay separately with my particular booking. it cost won, but it was well worth the price. my wife and i were especially impressed by the friendly efficient staff and fast service. most of the staff speaks very good english, as well as other languages, japanese for example. i also appreciated the umbrella in the room for customers' use as it was raining the day we arrived. however, as is typical in korea, our room was small, which was not a problem for us. as i am a swimmer, i used the indoor pool to swim laps. (the outdoor pool was crowded with kids and not a lap pool.) i was surprised to see it only had three lanes, and one of them was reserved for club members. luckily there weren't many people in the pool, so i could swim my laps.
I never thought we wouldn't need much service during our 5-day stay last week but unexpected things happened. There is an instance when my daughter vomited at the lobby as she felt very dizzy due to indigestion and upset stomach. The security was quick to assure us that they will take care of the cleaning and not to worry about it. She was totally embarrassed for causing such a scene but with the hotel personnels' assurance and willingness to assist, she was comforted. There was also one morning when I needed to check on my mom in her room. When she was not responding for about 10 minutes, I finally asked a staff from housekeeping who happens to pass by for help. She did all the works of informing the security and the reception about my request and quickly opened her door for me. I truly appreciate everything about The Shilla Seoul.
Best concierge service!”
The concierge staff at The Shilla were exceptional and set up to provide foreigners with great recommendations and cards to give to the taxis. Every person on the concierge desk was so friendly and helpful in every way--invaluable for a tourist to Seoul. They were worth the cost of staying here. (Not all of the hotel staff were as good as the concierge and some were a bit arrogant.) The costs for everything in the hotel--from coffee to the cost of using the sauna--were too high. One expects higher costs in a hotel but this was ridiculous. $20 for a coffee and over $30 for a cocktail? Breakfast buffet for $50 (it is a great buffet but still...). The fitness club is well-equipped and larger than most in a hotel. The swimming pool was great for doing laps--better than most in a hotel. The rooms are lovely with very comfortable beds and fabulous linens. I just wish there had been a set of drawers so I could unpack my suitcase for our stay.
Quite simply the best hotel in Seoul ”
I hara rather enjoyable time staying at shilla but the only issue I have is the walking distance to public transport. The shilla is also next to shilla duty free which sees daily bus loads of china tourist to buy branded products and cosmetic. I love the shilla for its luxury but it's not really for a hotel I will choose every time due to the higher price compared to other hotels. But if you must have the best, look no further than the shilla. It's well equipped and the service staff are very prompt. Also good to note that this hotel is near to dongdaemun and myeongdong which are both excellent tourist spots.
Beautiful hotel. Outstanding service.”
The Shilla must pride itself on excellent service and if so, it is doing an outstanding job. Service was flawless from the time we stepped out of our cab until we left. Our bags were placed in our room while we were checking in, so I did not even see the bellman. When I offered the butler a tip upon delivering our laundry (ordered for 4-hour turn-around, but delivered in 2 hours) he refused. When we arrived the doorman had our name on a list and from that time, to the time we left, every staff member (don't ask me how) knew our last name. More surprisingly, everyone spoke perfect English, including the doorman, telephone operator, butler. The 23rd floor Executive Lounge offered breakfast (6-10); light snack (with enough food to substitute for lunch) 12 - 2); tea (3 -5); and "happy hour" with a full buffet (small servings, but enough for dinner -- including salad, vegetables, fruit, beef, chicken, pork and fish dishes, dessert and an endless pouring of very nice red and white wines) -- so the extra we paid for an executive room saved us a bundle of money restaurant wise. The room was lovely, clean, nice view and the hotel offers a pillow menu of every type of pillow imaginable. There are multiple USB plugs at the desk and USB plugs in the bedside tables on each side of the bed. The setting is beautiful. Oh, and the Guerlin spa although on the expensive side, is one of the prettiest spas I have visited. Service in the spa was also outstanding but I did not appreciate the push to sell products at the end. And, yes, I would stay at the Shilla again without hesitation.
Superb Hotel with exceptional staff”
I have stayed in many Hotels around the world but I rank The Shilla, Seoul as my personal favourite. The location and Views are fantastic, with the Metro a 3 minute walk away. I have stayed on the club floor on both occasions and the Food and Beverage offered here is mind-blowingly good. I have never experienced such high quality food being offered on a club floor anywhere. The staff are immaculately groomed, totally professional and always willing to help. Simply a fantastic hotel.
Amazing hotel, one of the best in Korea”
Shilla was one of the best 5 stars hotel I have ever stayed in the facilities was amazing and the service was unmistakably great service. The location was good, very close by to Seoul tower, myoeng dong, and other local attractions. The restaurants at the hotel is really good too, especially the chinese and japanese restaurant.
A gem in the center of Seoul”
The room was absolutely amazing. The hotel provided many necessary amenities and the room space was designed absolutely great. The bed and linens were so comfortable and the restroom facilities were all so private yet open. The view from our room was the Namsan Tower which was so beautiful at night. The hotel was close to many tourist locations and very easy to get to with the shuttle service provided. The best thing was wherever we were, when we said we were at the Shilla hotel, any cab driver knew right where it was. The employees were also very helpful and accomodating and I was able to use English with no problem. I wish I was able to enjoy the other facilities like the gym and the pool more. Next time on my visit, I will definitely utilize more time to explore what Shilla has to offer! Great and wonderful stay!
Best Stay In Seoul (10+ visits)”
One of the best hotel experience I've ever had. Much better rooms than similarly priced places in Seoul. Renovations are beautiful. Great bathrooms. Extremely comfortable beds. Serene. Buffet was top 10 I've ever had at a hotel, though quite expensive. Location is debatably convenient; really depends on what you're in town to do, but it's a close walk to Itaewon and there's a fair amount nearby in Myeon-dong. I've stayed in most of the other 5-star properties in Seoul (excluding new PH and Banyan) and I'd say this is a significant step up from the other usual suspects.
Palace on a hill”
The Shilla Hotel is an awe-inspiring palace on a hill. With it's beautiful grounds, complete with gardens, walking paths and luxury shopping, it is the ultimate high-end comfort in Seoul. The hotel's extremely attentive staff treat you like royalty, and are exceeding helpful and curdious. That said, despite their pretty views (either Seoul City of Namsan) the Superior rooms are not unlike the rooms of much more moderately priced alternatives.
6-star hotel in disguise as 5-star”
Utmost luxury hotel at every single details from bath room to mini bar. I stayed so long time ago I found Shilla hotel made extreme makeover. We can say 6 star hotel in disguise as 5 star. Staff look so formal and more men than women. You may feel secured. It can be pros and cons. Overall, very detailed presentation at all corners of the facility. Plus, they will bring MOYNAT. Bar and restaurant seem overpriced but it worths. Try afternoon tea: the best in Seoul.
Regular guest at The Shilla”
The Shilla Hotel has always been my number one choice of hotel in Seoul. Architecturally, it's grandeur is hard to beat in Seoul, and the staff are always so friendly and accommodating. They carry themselves with poise and elegance and are always eager to help, from the doorman to the front desk to the room service staff.
I have been to many 5 star hotels in Seoul, and the Shilla is up there with the best. The hotel is pretty old but they have done a great job at cleanliness. Staff are very professional and considerate. The only bad thing is the parking lot is a bit far, so you have to take a shuttle. My room was very clean and the staff eas very nice to ask me which view I would prefer. I would definitely come back again
shilla is a little bit secluded from the city, up in the hill. so if you don't take a cab it might take long everytime you go up and down. to the nearest subway station is about 10 minute walk, they say. the hotel is a little old-fashioned but classic for young generation but their service is excellent. all the staff speaks about three languages. nice korean architecture. good thing is that everyone know shilla so once you get on the cab just say "shilla" and they'll get you without a problem. shilla's food is the best. definitely worth going there just to eat.
One of the best, if not THE best hotel in Korea!”
Believe the hype, the Shilla hotel is simply one of the very best, if not THE best hotel in Korea. From the lavishly decorated surroundings, to the large, beautiful lobby, to the many gourmet restaurants, top-notch facilities, expertly-trained staff, and outstanding guest rooms, what more can you want in a 5-star luxury hotel? Even the most basic guest room is large, modern, and meticulously clean. The bedding, in particular, is the most luxurious and comfortable I've ever experienced....better than in most 5-star hotels I've stayed at inculding the best in the US and Europe. The staff are expertly trained, fluent in multiple languages, and very attentive. The facilities, esp. the outdoor pool, fitness center, and spa are amazing. I would also highly recommend the dinner buffet at the Parkview restuarant....expensive but not to be missed! The location is good in that it's up on a hill, away from traffic noise, but a little bad in that a quick access to surrounding neighborhood is a bit difficult.
Overall Shilla Hotel Seoul is really nice. Highly recommended!! Breakfast is good, service is good, free shuttle bus to downtown. Only one suggestion from my point of view, the final shuttle bus could be stopped service at 21:00 or 22:00, it would be more convenient.
Anti-corona virus measures ”
My favorite hotel in Seoul. Service is always excellent. One thing I need to highlight this time - while Korea is currently watched from worldwide due to coronavirus, Shilla hotel checks everybody's temperature when they get in at the entrance. I can use this hotel without anxiety.
