The staff are very attentative. The moved their scooters as soon as we arrive to make parking space for us after few hundred km riding. They ask if we need anything else to be comfortable. Language might be a barrier but their action says it all. Super!

The room is very big for us, and amazed by the decor of lobby. This is much more better than what we expected. Near to the night market. The staff also very friendly and helping us keep the luggages while waiting for check in so we can walk around without hassle.

We stayed at The Small Hotel from the 7th till the 24th of March and for the price it was excellent. The hotel staff are the nicest and friendliest that I have ever met in Chiang Mai and really go the extra mile to help. I will most certainly stay here again.

Room is clean and comfortable. Hotel location is walking distance to Warorot morning market and Night bazaar, so food and shopping is easily accessible. In room free WI-FI is a huge plus, since I can plan my adhoc travel plan.

Small room/ rigid rules/ close to Night market”
Small room. Rigid rules set and my friend got fined thb2000 for taking a puff of one stick in the toilet and staff claimed need two days to wind the smell off and cannot let out the room. For smoker, this is not a hotel for you are you will need to go all way down to hotel main door for smoking. Aircon compressor a bit noisy. Only good is the property was located near night market.

Good hotel with some small flaws”
Pros - Value for money; Good location in walking distance to Warorot Market and CM Night Bazaar; Breakfast simple but nice rooftop venue, with eggs made to your preference; Free bicycles; Tops supermarket just opposite; Cheap laundry shop just a junction down; Lots of songthaews and cabs pass by Cons - Room 506's shower mixer is spoilt, only extreme hot or cold water and nothing in between; No views from the room if not facing the road; TV only thai channels; Some bicycles not in working condition, with loose handlebars and seats; Some staff not quite helpful Overall still worth staying.

Water Leaking ”
We were shock when water start pouring out from air-conditioner and yet they just put towels due to rooms are fully booked. After complain to maintenance staff, finally he managed to change room. I will never book this hotel again. Also price shown in Agoda was 4 figure but not value this when you see the room (feel like cheated). After Agoda offer so much discount, we paid RM270.92 for 2 rooms in 1 night. Careful with the floor is so slippery in bedroom and toilet, really not suitable for family with children.

I wish they can improve”
Beside the great location, I didn't have anything to really appreciated this hotel. Some of their staff were nice but they were not attentive and helpful. I was not so demanding during my stay as I always traveled more than my sleeping time but ...hmm. During my stay, very unfortunate, the water cut-off and they had no sufficient clean water supplied. It probably (might be or might be not) their false but they're deserved to be rated as that since they said they did not have any backup water storage (it come to my thought that the normal quest-house could do better). We had to check out early morning to the airport without showering, could you relate to that? This is the first time I have to write such a review.

Not good as pur 1st stay ”
Our room is noisy with water pump sound whole night. Bed is hard. Pillow is too hard and thick(tall) We stayed here 3 years before and this time we came back because we had a nice expereince last time but frankly we were disappointed this time. Front desk wasn't as friendly as our last stay. We have another night here under another booking but we will look for alternative hotel and cancel this booking if possible.

Perfect accommodation in the heart of Chiang Mai”
We booked this place for one night and it was perfect! Walking distance from Night Bazaar markets, bars and restaurants. The room was clean, shower was great. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The beds were quite firm but apart from that, this was a great place for a 1-night stay in Chiang Mai!

Great location, great hotel”
I have stayed at the Small hotel several times and everything about it is good. Located in a very interesting part of Chiang Mai close to the local Chinese/Thai market and numerous interesting shops, being on the red bus route makes getting around very easy. Helpful staff, very clean, air con works well and comfortable beds and nicely appointed rooms makes this hotel a go-to for me

Very Near Chinatown (Warorot Market)”
Just beside Chinatown so for those who like to go chinatown is an advantage . Room is affordable, clean and modern. Is a bit dated but still ok for me. They have free bicycle rental, swimming pool for dipping only, rooftop restaurant and bar but is small like the name of the hotel. Staff some is friendly some is serious maybe this is just a budget hotel. Opposite hotel there's TOP supermarket so convenient to buy something, and also RTC bus stop, so i can take bus from there to Chiang Mai Zoo and also Airport so is very very convenient !

I always enjoy staying here”
It's low season, so I really get to enjoy some of the hotels which are often just a little above the price range I prefer......hey, this is Chiang Mai and 97% of the time you're spoiled for choice! Anyway, great, comfortable rooms, the staff are good, breakfast, if included, is good, My favourite rooms are the ones at the front with a balcony overlooking Thapae Road, a great place to relax with a beer for an hour at twilight. You'd think there may be more noise here being on the busy road, but inside it's very quiet and well insulated. Recommended!

consistently good”
Having stayed here many times there are no surprises, the location is great, it's central to Thapae Gate and the Night Bazaar, both an easy walk away, and for anything else there's Songteaw, taxis and tuk tuks at the front door. The staff are pretty good here, although some seem a little green as I suspect there's been a change of management or ownership fairly recently, but they all try hard. The rooms are good sized and impeccably clean. The beds very comfortable and the bathrooms nice, although I'm not a fan of the pump bottle soaps etc. The breakfast is always good, in an open air style restaurant on the top floor. There's a small pool on the third floor and there is a lift, one only, but it's enough for this sized hotel. The lobby area is nice, too, always subtly lit, cool and inviting. On occasion I shy away from the Small, but in low season particularly there are often good specials on line which make it good value for what it offers. Recommended,

😃😃😃😃😃”
The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, the travel lady downstairs by the lift helped us so much with transport and even booked us an über, she said they are way cheaper than a taxi, shall I book one? So she booked us an uber on her phone as we couldn't download the app and saved us money. She also sorted several trips for us, a Thai cooking class and an amazing water park trip. The hotel was always clean and tidy and they would phone you from the desk downstairs if you didn't press the button on your door for cleaning just to check if you wanted your room cleaned. Not too far from lots of restaurants and places to drink, nice and quiet at night, easy to find. The only thing that let this hotel down was the wifi, it was terrible. But apart from that it was a pleasure and we'd definitely recommend The Small Hotel.

A solid choice”
I've stayed here a number of times over the years and it's a solid choice, not the cheapest but it's a great location, walk to many places, parking is limited for motorcycles in the front but generally you can squeeze in, the rooms are nice and clean. There seems to be new management and staff since my last stay, except in the breakfast room which has the same warm welcome as ever. The reception staff are maybe a little quiet compared to the previous crew, but I'm sure they'll loosen up in time. This is a good choice for your stay if you are lucky enough to find a super special on the web, otherwise you'll find better value in this competitive market. There's a small pool, more like a big plunge pool, and my favourite rooms here are the ones with a bit of a rough balcony overlooking Thapae Road.

Great location for budget travel”
Very decent lodging, not fancy. Pool is very tiny that we decided not to go. Staffs are friendly, although do not converse much in English. The biggest plus point is its location, 5 mins walk to Sunday Market, Night Bazaar, Warorot Market...

great location, friendly staff”
I chose an upgraded room, sorry I can't recall what they called it, but it was noticeably bigger then during my previous stays some years ago plus I had a small balcony overlooking Thapae Road, which from the fourth floor was a nice perspective. The room was clean, the bathroom generous in size, the bed comfortable and there was nothing I may have needed which wasn't there for me. The hotel has a small pool on a balcony setting, and breakfast was included. The food selection was adequate and tasty and again the setting is balcony, fifth floor with some nice views across the city. One of the strong points for the hotel is the staff, reception, tour desk and breakfast area, they were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming. There is parking in front for motorbikes but on a couple of occasions this was pretty squeezy for my larger than average ride. But being out the front it's within sight of the front reception area so should be relatively secure. There are cheaper places around but not too many which do it this well.

Convenient location”
The rooms are a very good size, plenty of space. Breakfast is on the top floor - we were told from 7am, but it was well under way when we went up at 06:50. The food is not a great range, but you are not paying a lot. The elevator skips the first floor, so if you have many/heavy bags ask for floors 2 and up. The staff are very nice (the ones we saw were) and helpful. WiFi worked easily in the room. The bathroom could use some hooks on the door, to keep the towel off the floor when showering. If you are of 'large size', you may want to look elsewhere as the toilet is so close to the sink that the edge of the benchtop will jam against you. I'm not too big, but it is a bit uncomfortable sitting there. Cockroaches were a problem - so many of them of varying sizes. If we were there longer, I would have bought spray. 200b security deposit. We would stay there again.
