This English Tudor, boutique hotel, built in 1939, is situated adjacent to a beautiful golf course. Guests will enjoy a prime location on a verdant hill that is just three hours from Kuala Lumpur and nestled upon the frontier that separates modernity from the untamed wild. Guests will find The Smokehouse Hotel perfectly situated to explore both. This boutique hotel features a special traditional English breakfast followed by a noon tea in the sculpted garden. The hotel also boldly offers one of the finest dining venues in the Highlands, featuring a distinctive collage of traditional and modern cuisine types. The Smokehouse Hotel is the perfect venue for guests who want one of the best English-styled boutique hotels in the Cameron Highlands.

Quant English Manor ”
One of the best places to stay in Cameron Highlands. Beautiful surroundings and flowers. Great polite staff especially the Malay gentleman who helped me up the stairs. No lifts so elderly and disabled people will find it tough climbing up to the rooms unless can get a room downstairs. Bed and furniture very old and needs replacement. The sofa in the room is sunken in and can feel the wooden frame. Bed needs to be replaced with King Size bed instead of Queen size ones. TV could do with more international channels. Bathroom also needs refurbishing as its an 84 yr ole building. The carpets around the hotel seems to be old and worn. Breakfast was excellent. Staffs polite and helpful. Restaurant is nice western but could do better. Price is reasonable for the ambience.
Wonderful colonial style staycation!”
The location was convenient, the view was wonderful surrounded with golf course view and intricate garden. Great place to spend for inspiration and relaxation accompanied with fragrant flowers, chirping birds and good old charm original colonial setting... The food were great and the ambience was warm and welcoming.
great garden and decor but don't stay in the "library".”
great english cottage feel and garden. The groundsmen were friendly enough. We stayed in the room is just next to the road on the ground floor. Called the library. you can hear the vehicles driving by in the night. there is no view. Just a wall outside the window. Even the toilet seat and toilet bowl sizes are mismatched. Location is about 20-25 mins walk to town. so you are stuck there unless you drive or call a taxi. Price for dinner is expansive for the quality of food. Overall a bit disappointed for the price we paid.
A good place to wind down”
A friendly staffs, good environment, *will remind your kids about ghost story (but not their fault). properly maintained little garden. but for those who accustomed to having waterhose next to toilet, you might want to have backup plan as my room does not have water hose near toilet installed. Alternatively, you might want to learn about how to use bidet. But if you came without preparation, afraid not as common restroom do have waterhose. Lovely staff, and nice little lawn. Price is a little on the high side but if your wife love colonial style, this could be the reason for you to start your vacation saving.
Exceptional good place to rest and relax in the award winning Garden English Manor SmokeHouse ”
Just love this place ..stayed there a few times whenever we visit the Cameron Highlands The scone and apple pies are really good Thanks to staff and especially Amu the receptionist ..been very cordial n helpful in our recent visit
I will come back again”
I love the environment, I love the breakfast, I love their green garden, and also enjoy the sunshine and weather too.
TRANQUIL AND PEACFUL”
My Husband and I celebrated our anniversary in this awesome place. Both of us checked in late due to massive congestion but got rewarded with free honeymoon suit Upgrade. It lifted our spirit. This is an exceptional choice and both of us love the entire settings of the Smokehouse. Their staffs are awesome. ever so ready to help and provide information. They even organized a surprise anniversary celebration. My Husband and I love the fire place and beautiful garden around the Smokehouse. We refused to go out of this place and visit other attraction because it was such cozy place to be relaxed and get connected to nature.
Its drawbacks are part of the charm”
Smokehouse feels like it is falling apart but that is why you go there. Everything is antiquated and even though it is only from 1937 it feels much older. This is what makes the Smokehouse special though. You can find nice resorts everywhere but there are not many places like this. The garden is the star though. It looks like it is cared for around the clock and is a wonderful place to see out the afternoon after their excellent scones (best in Cameron, after tireless research!).
Food the best”
Clean and sooo beautiful place...
Cosy cottage hotel ”
Love the quaint & cosiness Of this very “English” hotel - feel like in England! The flowers in the garden are beautiful bloom. A place to rest & relax up in the mountain. At night, weather are much cooler seating around the fire place & sipping wines or cocktails was nice. We will come back again !
The room is very spacious, the atmosphere is amazing. The staff is very friendly. Loving the garden. The breakfast is also amazing. Loving everything about this hotel. Totally recommended to those trying to get away from the stressful working environment.
Enjoyable stay at the Smokehouse”
The hotel has the old English charm and the English garden is absolutely beautiful! We loved having the delicious scones and tea at the garden during tea time. We would love to visit again but hope to see some touching up of the paint work in the room (wall and ceiling) to give them a fresher look. Also to have more variety for the breakfast perhaps a mini buffet instead of just English breakfast set, so that it is not repetitive for guests who stays longer.
Worth to stay”
Very nice, I like classic design house
This is my second time living in a smoke house, and this resort has a big space for improvement.”
Starting with the services. We came here, with a staff greeting us that we need to pay an extra RM200 because four people is not allowed to live in a deluxe room. Fine, but while we reserved the room, we had already specified we have two adults and two children. On the next day, we moved to a family room. The next morning, we woke up early and went down to the reception and asked them if we can move our luggages now, they said "you can move your luggages to the family room after you come back." So again, we listened, when we came back, and asked them if we can move our stuff now. They said they already moved it for us and handed us the keys. I don't agree that they could move other people's things without permission. Next is hygiene. Mosquitoes were everywhere. I had killed five mosquitoes in a night, hard to sleep. The food there was amazing along with the tea. The whole resort was decorated with heart, and we appreciate it.
Not recommended ”
Outside hotel view is superb and lobby view is fascinating. But once you enter the room is nightmare (Noisy as the main road is infront). The room that we booking from agoda is not worth what u paying for. Then we upgraded our room to suite (additional RM150 but also noisy -Garden Room-) but not so clean as the flooring carpet is dirty. If you looking for 50’s or 60’s furnishes yes u May consider this place to stay. Its an experience but i may not comeback as there is other better option hotel nearby as well.
Ok, still need some improvement for the water heater.”
The water heater is no good, water pump not balance, don't have the hot water , difficult adjustable for hot water.
Cozy and Comfort Stay”
The Smokehouse has a very beautiful garden. The stay is very comfortable and quaint. The breakfast is wholesome and the location of the accomodation is good. The staff are very helpful. Thank you for providing us with such good experiences. :)
It is a good hotel for a quick getaway. There needs to be more improvement in the cleanliness of the hotel rooms. Bed linens are old - we hope the hotel will change them to new ones. Food was good - breakfast and dinner. Staffs were very good.
experience the authentic British old house”
The house and it's garden are very attractive to the ones who are seeking old time relaxation. Service is warm and comfortable, afternoon tea and food are delicious and delightful. 20 minutes walk to either of the nearest towns but the front desk is always willing to help call a taxi. Furniture and bathroom a little bit old fashion though. Suites in the main house are strongly recommended.
Overall my stay at here was superb. Staff were friendly, design of the house was almost authentic. Love the bar and garden especially. We were upgraded to an executive suite (room Warwick) and I can say our experience worth the price. Things to improve including the linen (bedsheet and blanket) in the room were found to be smelled musty, but we had got a prompt action from staff to change it after telling it to them. Drainage in the room didn't work well too. There was pooling of outflowed water below the sinks where the drain outlet located but the water just can't drained into it. Anyhow these little flaws didn't affect our stay in Smokehouse at all. Keep up good work!
