Excellent stay at Southern Cross Hotel ”
Southern Cross Hotel is a budget hotel in the Ermita area of Manila. It is a friendly hotel, I stayed there for 10 days covering late January /early February 2017. For me the price was very good value, The room was very clean, a bar is situated on the ground floor. They have live music on twice weekly. Only down side was that elevator was not working. The engineer was working on it for some of the time I was there and it now appears to have been fixed. I will certainly stay at the southern cross hotel on my next visit to ermita.

the Southern Cross Hotel has seen better days however the staff are very friendly and helpful, there is a restaurant/bar downstairs and the hotel operates a shuttle bus service to Angeles City and Subic Bay ... the room was ok, the air-con and fan worked, the water was hot, the bed was firm, the linen was ok and my room was made up each day ... please be aware the lift is still out of order (28 September 2016) so anyone with mobility difficulties may want to consider alternative accommodation ... the daily hotel rates are at the higher end of the moderate scale given the condition and location of the hotel ... the hotel is guest friendly (with guest's ID) and suitable for an overnight stay to catch the shuttle bus to Angeles or Subic ... Southern Cross management please post an update when the repairs to the lift are complete and it is working again

I recently had an overnight stay at Southern Cross Hotel on my way from Subic Bay to Bangkok ... the elevator has been refurbished and is now working ... the air con and fan worked, the room was clean and bed linen ok, there was a bar fridge and electric jug, the staff are still friendly and helpfull

Have been staying at Southern Cross each visit to Manila.....during the last 10 years. It is safe, convenient , close to shopping, easy to visit Immigration, points of interest by foot. Staff is great...food is fair, beer A bit pricey....and the girls Pushy. New policy this visit...Non Smoking Everywhere.....including the bar.

Second stay at this this hotel. This time I booked a room that supposedly isn’t windowless but what I still got was a windowless room on the fourth floor. The internet at that time was acting up but when it was reported to their staff, they immediately fixed it. Location is within walking distance to Manila Embassy and to Robinsons Manila. There are a lot of 24-hour convenience stores and fast food stores located nearby which is great. There is also an internet shop next door which is convenient as I needed some documents printed. The staff were accommodating. Overall, it’s a nice and cheap place to stay in if you have your embassy interview or your medical in St. Luke’s.

My mother and I had a pleasant stay here. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was also neat and tidy. The place is near the US embassy, luneta park, manila ocean park & robinsons place manila. I would really recommend this place to my friends.

The place was near St. Luke’s Extension Clinic which is great if you will be having your medical there. It is within walking distance to Robinsons Manila and there are a lot of food shops and 24-hour convenience store nearby. The staff were accommodating. Their WiFi was great, fast connection. The room I had was windowless room on the second floor, a bit dark and could have used more lighting. It had its own bathroom and there is hot water.

Friendly staff specially the security guard Jake who made sure I get a room even when it was 4:00 o'clock in the morning when I arrived at the hotel. It's an old hotel but surprisingly I've seen no roaches during my stay. The a/c works fine. There's a small refrigerator and an electric hot water heater that comes handy. The place is a walking distance to just about anything. A 7-11 store down stairs. A fast food restaurant less that 100 meters away. A Catholic Church across the street. Robinson's mall a few blocks away. And public transportations right at your doorsteps .

Good value and location”
Hotel is very old and dated but still in reasonable condition. For short stay solo make travellers I highly recommend the place as it's centrally locate in ermita and the bus to Angeles city leaves daily from this venue. The place is quite no frills but for $30 a night it has everything u need for a comfortable few nights and guests are welcome. Overall I'd highly recommend for budget conscious single make travellers staying short term.

A GREAT ECONOMICAL HOTEL”
Currently they are installing a new LIFT/ELEVATOR which will be in operation by CHRISTMAS DAY 2016 the friendly staff informed me. Great food focusing on a Australian menu with generous servings at realistic prices.Bar prices are certainly affordable with live entertainment 3 nights a week with great singers also a pool competition with expats every Wednesday Afternoon. Stay here frequently and can highly recomend this hotel

Excellent Stay”
Good food, clean rooms and excellent customer service. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Definitely will return especially now that they are installing their new lift. You must try their newly refurbished rooms at fourth and fifth floors.They also give a free night if you stay longer and you can also get good discount if you pay ahead of time. I also got complimentary food and drinks because I stayed for almost a month. They have a sports bar and restraunt so I didn't bother going out for my food considering they serve delicious Aussie food, You won't believe how big their servings are for a reasonable price.

Simple stop-over place”
As the name suggests, the bar and eating area has a Queensland tone. Expect cold beer, Aussie grub and old men gossiping, playing pool or watching rugby on the TV. The bar seems to be a popular venue for non-residents. My hotel room was plain, quite adequate for a short stay but unlikely to impress your wife or girlfriend. The hotel's location is a little away from the bars and restaurants around the Ermita/Malate border, easily walkable but having to pass many street dwellers on the way. Not far to the wonderful Rizal Park though. A bonus is being the start point of the shuttle bus service to Angeles and Subic; clean, convenient, good value travel.

Its and older hotel but is in a good location , near the embassy, there is a 7 -11 just downstairs, and has restaurent , room service, pool table. Not to far from airport and the intramuros immigration office . Air con is good, wi fi works good in the rooms to. I have stayed there several times. Metered taxis easy to get too.

It is located near to the bars in Ermita , not very clean , air condo not very good (but it's ok) , friendly staff , attached with Australian sport bar, the draught beer there is cheap "50 Peso ".

The staff are nice, and you will feel welcome. The rooms are old. But the location is good. Away from Malate´s neon lights and near to Rizal park. The breakfast is a tad to the expensive side to be honest, but all depends on one´s pockets and budget. It was tasty, but they could have thrown in a refill or coffee or something... Again there are many alternative options to great ones almusal. (breakfast) The security guys are really doing a good job. "Screening" anyone who enters the place, but in a very subtle way. However no doubt, they keep security at a very high level, and it does take a trained eye to spot it. Yes they are that good. A bus can take you north to Angeles City (and back) if you like. Believe the price is 500 peso each way.. Not a bad deal, if you want to go and spread your wings. Will not hesitate to come back.
