The only thing that i would recommend is about food! I think 5 stars hotel should better have an international or several food available in the menu. I was order some dishes from the restaurant and I couldn't eat, it's not tasty at all.

My stay at The Strand Hotel was perfect from A-Z. I loved my large elegant and beautifully appointed room and lovely bathroom as well as the nice view. The pool is large and very nice as well as the garden. That rather recent addition to the hotel is a big plus. I also liked the breakfast room very much with its lovely wall paper and elegant colonial feel. Breakfast was à la carte, plentiful and very tasty. Service and staff were perfect, kind and attentive.

Manager Mark, butler Joe, beautiful large room and superb breakfast, everyone but everyone smiled all the time. Excellent in all ways!”
We stayed 3 nights at the Strand and had superb experience. The room is recently renovated and very spacious. I think there are only 30-40 rooms in the hotel which makes it feel exclusive. The 24hr butlers are also very helpful. The food is beyond delicious, both local and Western dishes. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Strand Cafe and were not disappointed with any dish (must try: egg cardinal, mohinga, and earl gray milkshake). The location is convenient, close to nice cafes (try Sharky's, Rangoon Tea House, and Moonson), beautiful colonial buildings, and tourist attractions like Sule Pagoda and St. Mary Cathedral. Staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we have a chance to go back to Yangon.

My husband and I visited Yangon recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We couldn't have picked a better place. From the moment we arrived, till our departure, we were treated with dedicated hospitality, friendliness and service. The food was exquisite, the accommodation luxurious and the history, architecture and design swept us away to the nostalgia of times' past.

        Amazing hotel experience”
We were on a quick stopover in Yangon to start our honeymoon in Myanmar and stayed two nights at the Strand Hotel. The hotel had just been renovated a month before and everything was perfect, from the staff that was lovely, special treats as honeymooners, advices on how to get around... Most importantly the hotel is one of these architectural gems that make you travel out of time. The renovation has been done with great taste, the rooms are beatufully appointed with high ceiling and nice furnitures. The resturants and bar are also beautiful and cosy, and the food is prepared well with excellent ingredients. I was impressed by the quality of the hotel in all aspects, it's probably the best experience I've had in Asia for a city hotel.

Coffee and tea were served to your room. 24 hours bulter serving you. I returned after a short detour to Bagan and the staff still remembered me. A personalized note was signed by the general manager. The room was decorated nicely for a special occasion. The breakfast was good (the local dishes were better than western). The room was large and luxury. But the TV is too far so larger TV is needed. I really love the receptionist and its exchange rate was good. Can change money with safely. Location is good. One of the best hotels I've stayed in. Very gracious, understated service. All the amenities are thought through and add to your comfort. The only problem was the smoke from the bar that permeated the air throughout the hotel - wish they could do something about that. Otherwise, this is a wonderful, friendly place to stay.

        Hotel itself, staff & ambience.
The Strand Hotel reflects an era gone but not forgotten. It is like travelling back in time to period when the most minute details mattered and time moved at a slower pace. The staff are top -notch friendly and efficient in a manner that is not obstructive. The location is excellent. Lots to see within walking distance and not far from other major sites. Art lovers will also find many treasures hanging on the wall of the gallery found in the Strand itself.

Huge elegant wood-laden rooms, attentive friendly service, classy food
I wanted to stay at the Strand as it is famous for housing Rudyard Kipling in the past. I did not expect to find such an amazing place! The beautiful elegant high ceiling rooms are laden in wood and marble. I booked into the basic bedroom (no view) but it was huge: big ensuite area and a bathroom with separate doors for shower and toilet (also environmentally friendly touches). I like the thoughtful touches such as little presents and a comic-style book on do's/don'ts for tourists. The staff were great: friendly, helpful, attentive but not over the top. I missed out on the included breakfast (slept in) but had lunch twice (Myanmar and international) which was delicious. The only downside was the room price: expensive compared to other Asian boutique 5 Star's eg Centara Grand Beach Hotel Hua Hin Thailand (but about right for Yangon!). No gym or pool, to keep in line with history, but there were spa/pamper facilities. I can't wait to stay there again - this time I won't sleep in.

        Fantastic!”
        Comfort, cleanliness, attention
When my wife and I used to come to Yangon in the late 1990s, early 2000s, the Strand was vastly more expensive than anywhere else. Now, it is not much more and even less than many of the other four or five star hotels in town. We were pleasantly surprised by the care and attention the hotel staff gave our stay and our room was large, very colonial, and comfortable with amazingly high ceilings. The kitchen is probably still the best in Yangon and the breakfast is an all you can eat, made to order, feast. We enjoyed the historic bar as well which was really stepping back in time. Can recommend this as a first choice for anyone staying in Rangoon. BTW, while they do not have a pool (it was a colonial hotel built within space limits of the time) it has arrangements with neighbouring facilities to make swimming available. The staff were so nice--great stay!

Just exactly what it promises to be”
        Staff, rooms.
just to get the little niggles out of the way first, the following areas could be improved (or at least reexamined): leaving the room key with the floor butler is not a good system, as the butler's desk is often unattended when you return. smoking in the communal areas is currently permitted, with the inevitable leakage of the smell into the rooms. this practice has no place in a modern hotel. the bar is unusable for the same reason. wifi is very slow and not available in rooms. this should not be difficult to fix. an establishment of this size really needs more than one lift. it may be only three storeys high, but the ceilings are so astonishingly elevated that there are 40 (count them!) steps up each level, so it's quite a hike if the lift is unavailable. put these complaints aside, though, and contemplate the bigger picture. this is a superb hotel. the rooms and the service are excellent and it is an oasis of calm and efficiency in a city which, while not without its charms, is not generally noted for either of those qualities. the food is very good. the staff are unfailingly helpful, anticipating all manner of needs, for instance offering late checkout without even being asked. services like taxis were offered without being pushed, room cleaning was done at my convenience, not theirs and the concierge organised and advised tours that benefited me, not the hotel. highly recommended if you can manage the price.
