Great stay”
Feb 2020, we went for the motorcycle show. We loved our stay. Room was very affordable, especially for Toronto downtown. Walking distance to many restaurants. Plenty of public parking spots. No parking spot in hotel or on streets. Public parkinng spot behind the hotel is 25$ a day and one short street away is 15$ a day on Wellignton street. Room with 2 double beds is very small, no frig, very clean and quiet. If you are looking for a good nap at cheap price, this is the place. Beds are very comfy. Would go back there on my next trip to Toronto.

Great value!”
This was our second stay at the Strathcona. The location is wonderful. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. Upon checking in, I asked if our room had a mini fridge and we were upgraded without asking to a room that did... at no extra cost. When there was some noise at night in our hallway, the staff went up and asked the people to quiet down. You can’t beat the value of this hotel; it is our go to place when in Toronto!

Doesn't get any better than the Strathcona”
Walking distance to many Toronto attractions - close to subway, walking distance to Union Station and shuttle to Billy Bishop Airport. Valet parking is very reasonable and not much more than finding an off-site parking lot. The on-site "Strath Pub" has good food at good prices - Breakfast & lunch available in Lobby Cafe. Hotel is sleek clean, friendly staff and for downtown Toronto very reasonable rates

Great location right near the station”
Stayed over the weekend in transit through Toronto on my way to Winnipeg. The hotel is conveniently located right near Union Station where the UP ends. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable and stocked nicely with coffee machine and bathtub to warm up after a cold winter's day out. But also walking distance to the paths to take you around downtown. Lovely atmosphere in the hotel and staff were really knowledgeable and accommodating.

Perfect location for theatre-goers”
We were able to easily walk to this hotel from Inion Station, and then to the Royal Alexandra Theatre. It's even closer than that to the St. Andrew's station. The pub had a nice selection of food. We were disappointed with the calamari, but the lamb stew was excellent. As was the atmosphere and the drinks. The bed was comfortable, and the climate control worked well. I couldn't figure out how to get 'fan only', but I'm sure there was a way, and I never asked the staff- I'm sure they would have told me. We will definitely stay there again, the next time we want to stay I downtown Toronto.

Good location and service ”
Good and safe location at downtown area ! It just takes 2 minutes walk to union station. 15-25 minutes walking distance to Eaton center, Ontario lakeside and Ripley ‘s aquarium. Also the hotel provides very good service, especially thanks to the hotel front desk receptionist Ronald who was very helpful and polite, providing many useful information to us . We enjoyed our stay there in Toronto.

Pleasantly Surprised”
I wasn't expecting much more than a bed for this price point in downtown Toronto, but I was surprised by the friendly, accommodating staff, the relative quiet in a downtown location, and how well I slept! I loved the shutters on the windows, and the location was unbeatable. The water pressure in the shower was so-so, but the lavender & peppermint toiletries were quite nice.

A Wonderful Find”
Everyone I've talked to these past two days have had to listen to me rave about The Strathcona: its location near the subway AND the train station; the small but perfect room with its wooden floors and light wood furniture -- very European in its minimalism; the comfort of the bed and the cleanliness of the bedlinens; the addition of a rack for my bag, an ironing board and iron; and the enthusiasm and warmth of the staff. All that, and a great price point too. Now that I've found you, Strathcona, I will never leave you!

GREAT LOCATION & ROOM”
After staying 6 days in a "condo-hotel" at Avenue Road and Bloor (cheaply put together, no services when needed, items not repaired, basic Struck-Tube furniture, smears on walls, badly-stained mugs, no coffee or tea yet a full galley kitchen) the STRATHCONA was a huge improvement. Smallish room but beautiful furnished and fitted out; warm highlights, California shutters, wonderful soaps/shampoo, coffee and coffee-maker) and the location was right across the street from the Porter Island Airport bus pickup. Subway just around the corner; tons of shops and coffee places, restaurants within steps. Very helpful staff who stored luggage as my arrival was early. Would definitely return anytime!

Good value and Fantastic location”
We took a room with a queen bed and although the room is small it was all we needed for the one night we were there. The only thing I would suggest to them is that in the pictures of the room it showed a small desk and a chair. We had neither, only an ottoman. Other than that, it was clean and comfortable and the Strathcona Hotel has a fantastic location, especially if you are coming in by train.

The Staff made me feel very welcome. I loved the location for my downtown meetings and the BLUE JAYS GAME! The breakfast 'crew' were amazing. I will recommend it to anyone - family or friends-that have appointments in downtown Toronto.

Close to train station”
It was important for us to be near the train station as we had an early train. The location was very convenient to that and other Toronto attractions. Note: the city is spread out so you will need to use public transportation to see everything no matter where you stay. The rooms are VERY small, but appeared clean. They were all we needed for our two night stay. Hotel staff was kind and accommodating.

Awesome Hotel in a Perfect Location”
If you are traveling through Toronto and going by train - this is a perfect option. Only 5 minutes walking from Union Station and the train from the airport as well. It was easy for me to take the train from the airport, overnight here, and then take a train in the morning to Cobourg (or wherever you are going). No rental cars and no taxis. Plus you can enjoy good restaurants, the CN tower and the Ripley's aquarium within 5 minutes. Highly recommend!

Room As Expected; Pub Was a Bummer”
Pros- clean room, walking distance to shopping and concert venues. Hotel staff very friendly and accommodating. Con- Was given a 10% off food coupon for the on-site pub, from staff. Had a few drinks and some food. The 'chicken breast' sandwich was actually a processed, breaded chicken patty. Included fries were oversalted to the point of being inedible. To be fair, replacement fries offered, but I declined. After the meal, I was told the 10% off coupon would only be applied if I billed the meal to my room, where I was paying with my debit card. No mention of this stipulation when I was given the coupon by staff. While I'd stay at the Strathcona again, I would not go to the pub. These little things make a difference in regards to a first experience and impression.

Basic room - nothing special”
The Strathcona hotel was conveniently located just a few steps outside Union Station / UP Express which came in handy when going back to the airport. All I needed was something to stay for the night and it was enough. The front staff & the lobby looked great, however the rooms were a bit dull. The coffee machine looks like it hasn’t been used for years, the TV was analog, and the plugs were nowhere close to the bed. This meant my phone was being charged at the foot of the bed - which is powered by a light switch. This meant I had to sleep with the light on, or charge my phone far from my bed. I’m attached to my phone so sleeping with lights it is! Not a huge deal for one night. Bathroom was clean and provided the necessities. Staff was great and polite. :)

Decent Hotel w/ Good Location”
It was our first time in Toronto and staying at the Strathcona was a good option because of the proximity to some key landmarks and the waterfront. Some disappointing things that happened: the air-conditioning unit in our room was broken and it took several hours to have it replaced during a very hot and humid time, when we changed rooms the tv remote did not work and we were given a room with one bed instead of two (family of four). Overall, it was not a bad place to stay, just some inconveniences that made the trip a little difficult at times. We parked next door and that was pretty easy. It is a short walk down to the water, CN Tower, stadiums and many, many restaurants.
