Sunny, clean, comfy, helpful, trustworthy, safe...”
3Sep2011...On my 1st visit to Bacolod City, Negros Occ. Philippines, after a long absence... I searched the web for a hotel very near the city plaza and San Sebastian Church. This brought me to a new (over a year) boutique hotel 190m from the city plaza and (250m) San Sebastian Cathedral...510m to SM Mall Bacolod. The Suites at Calle Nueva ( 20 rooms, low rise) at the corner of Nueva St. and Locsin St. I was pleasantly surprised to find this hotel (2 star) to be very clean and my room had almost all of the things I looked for a good night sleep. The staff were courteous and helpful. the place was sunny. My room had cool aircon, LED cable tv, land line phone, hot water bath, clean beddings, clean towels, toilet supplies like soap, shampoo, toothbrush..paste... etc. there is a bidet, hair dryer, sleepers, ample towel racks, very clean tiles and toilet bowl. The bed was comfy and clean ... no bedbugs or smelly body odor of former occupants. The was luggage sofa... and clean curtains to block the sunlight. The cabinet was clean with ample hangers. The dinning area is small and accommodating. Wifi was free and was only good for email and web browsing. Breakfast was included and buffet. And were signage for safety and house rules. There was a bible in the drawer. The hallway was clear and clean with lots of cctv cams... feel safe... and most of all the staff were trustworthy. A guest who left came back and was able to get back an electronic accessory. I will certainly come back to this hotel in the days to come.
Central, great interiors, great staff”
The Suites at Calle Nueva looks small from the outside, and the front desk area/restaurant looks smaller, but going towards the room, you find a great spacious receiving room that has a casita feel, like some Peruvian courtyard with lanterns and painting, surrounded by the rooms (I think there are 20). It is located in downtown Bacolod City, but tucked away in a small street from Gatuslao Street (the main road where La Consolacion and the city park are). This hotel boasts of a wonderful and very competent, cordial staff who knows what they are doing. They'd arrange for your taxi rides if you inform them (pay the taxi, not the hotel - P500 to the airport). My room's at the 2nd level where I was upgraded to a deluxe, a spcious, beautifully decorated room with sophisticated curtains and to-die-for bed sheets/duvet. Wifi is really fast. Prior reviews seem to point the intermittent and poor wifi signal, but this seems to have been remedied. Internet is stable and very fast (I could download stuff in minutes). My booking has inclusive breakfast but since I had an early flight out, the staff packed me a delicious ham/egg sandwich with bottled drink. It is hard to find fault really. The street where the hotel is IS NOT dodgy but it is a row of small carinderias and videoke bars. THIS IS is downtown area so "inherent noise" is to be expected, and this is in the form of videoke singing till 2 PM, but it wasn't something that was absolutely bothersome that I couldn't sleep. If you do NOT want noise, stay away from the whole DOWNTOWN area because noise is part of any city center. I could walk to the baroque San Sebastian Church; to the city park, and SM Bacolod. Even Museum is walkable - or take a 7 peso, 5 minute jeepney ride. Great place and I have been to Avenue Suites and Circle Inn before.
The best V4M in the 4 months that I've been in The Philippines”
I was GRANDPAcking my way south from Boracay Island to Siquijor Island. I was taking my time and stopped at Bacolod on the way. I had done my ‘usual thing’ and pre-booked my Bacolod accommodation. I was only staying for a total of 3 nights, so I booked all 3 nights in advance. I found The Suites at Calle Nueva on AGODA. My room was an 'Insider Deal' discounted down to PHP922 / night from PHP1500 for a Single Room including buffet breakfast. A ‘Single’ room in S.E. Asia usually means a Double bed or Twin bed room – but it has been discounted for single person occupancy. The Calle Nueva is on a quiet side street and is within easy walking distance of the ferry terminal, shopping and restaurants. My room was a good sized Twin that came with aircon, desk, cable TV, toiletries, in-room wifi, complimentary bottled water, hot water ensuite, and a large wardrobe. The ensuite was clean with plenty of water pressure (which made a pleasant change). The buffet breakfast is excellent with many things to choose from. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All in all, it was excellent V4M.
Excellent Service!”
Just sharing...For our 1st hotel in our Bacolod stay, can't thank you enough for what you did this late night (Feb28,2019). Beyond extra mile service. We appreciate the time & effort of the owners of The Suites at Calle Nueva to drive all the way from Bacolod city to our 2nd hotel here in Talisay city. Excellent service and overall. Thank you so much! GodBless your Hotel! ***Super recommended Hotel in Bacolod City. Better to book this Hotel and experience what it feels like home. ***
Good value for money + tips if you decide to stay here”
I stayed here for 3D2N recently (June 2017) together with my mom. We took the taxi from the airport going here (Php 500) and it can easily be spotted. It's a 2-storey building located at the corner of Nueva Street and Locsin Street. There is a parking space that can accommodate around 3-4 cars across the place. The facade needs a re-paint though. The location is excellent since it's walking distance (around 5 mins) from San Sebastian Cathedral, SM City Bacolod, the public plaza, and Lacson Street (which is a main street). However, walking down Nueva Street towards Gatuslao Street, you will notice various sari-sari stores (these are mini stores selling various merchandise such as soft drinks, junk foods, cigarettes, etc.) and some shabby houses (sort of informal settlers). Although it is not bad as in say, Quiapo area in Manila and it is just a short walk, it is still prudent to be vigilant about your belongings and safety if you decide to walk this route. Best to do it during daytime. You can opt to take route of Locsin Street then Rizal Street, which is parallel to Nueva Street. (Check out Google Maps.) Anyway, I booked a standard double room for Php 1500 per night and consists of 2 twin-sized beds plus free breakfast. We were assigned to room 110, situated at the back of the place. The room including the bathroom was nice and clean. The aircon and TV worked fine. We were provided with bedroom slippers, clean towels, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. There were just 2 things I didn't like: there was one power outlet which was not properly fitted on the wall (read: fire hazard) and the wifi didn't reach our room (you have to go outside to the common room). On the way to our room, we also had to pass by a narrow walkway which was most of the time, wet (I don't know why) but someone might slip because of it. I also did not notice any fire exit plans. But there were CCTVs in place in the corridors for security. I suggest you request for a room no
Always Good Value for Money, Comfy Stay and Attentive Staff”
Whenever we are in Bacolod, The Suites at Calle Nueva is our go-to accommodations. You truly get your money's worth with their comfortable and clean beds, spacious rooms, complementary toiletries, ample supply of towels and the sufficient breakfast buffet spread. Sad that they no longer have unlimited bacon as part of the morning meal but not a dealbreaker. Would definitely still stay here in the future. :)
really clean room and friendly staff”
cheap and nice hotel. I satayed bacolod durng 3days for travel. I changed hotel every days. among theem The suites at calle nueva is most nice place. have a nice travel! everyone at bacolod
Value for Money”
The Suites at Calle Nueva is a good pick if you are looking for a place to stay in Bacolod City. It is at the center of the city which makes it easier for traveler to go to wherever they want. The rooms are good enough and they serve buffet breakfast!
Excelent service with a smile”
The best thing going for this hotel is its wonderful staff, who were always accomodating and very pleasant to deal with. We took the earliest flight to Bacolod and after breakfast, called the hotel if we could check-in early. They immediately said yes. When we got into the room and found out that there was no refrigerator (my mistake for not checking beforehand), we asked if we could transfer to a room with one. Instead of moving us to a higher-priced room, the receptionist offered to have a ref put in the room. And voila, the refrigerator came in less than 10 minutes! Overall it was a very pleasant stay - the room (deluxe) was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable. I was not expecting much when i booked a stay in this hotel. But having stayed in a more plush hotel in BCD before, I can say that this hotel deserves to be number 1 in the bed and breakfast category.
Exceed my expectations ”
The place is very convenient. The shuttle from airport will directly pass at the hotel. Walking distance to some of the tourist spots like Manokan Country, San Sebastian Cathedral, Bacolod Plaza, Bacolod Central Market and SM bacolod. The room is clean and spacious basic toiletries is provided. The breakfast is good considering the amount you paid for. The staff were nice and friendly. The only missed was the shuttle they offering from the hotel to the airport was late. I end up taking a taxi. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back again.
Excellent rooms and service”
wonderful small hotel. the rooms are impeccable: spacious, clean, comfortable. there is a comfy couch in the room and many pillows. the hot water is not that hot but in the philippines you don't need a burning hot shower anyway. the service is extremely friendly and attentive, from the room cleaners to the cooks, including the security guards and the receptionists. breakfast is good enough. it has a few dishes which change daily, plus eggs, cereals and toast. the hotel is generally quiet. sometimes you might hear the beat of karaoke bars from down the street, but it rarely lasts and isn't very disturbing. the location is good, next to the main plaza, the cathedral, the main street (lacson) and a major mall (sm). the street itself might seem a little shady at first, but it is really not. it's just a regular small street with cheap karaoke bars. just follow basic travelling etiquette (don't flaunt your jewelry) and you'll be totally ok. overall, if you are looking for a pleasant place to stay in bacolod, this is a very smart choice.
Sweet Life at The Suites”
Great stay at The Suites. It's near everywhere. We just walked going to SM, San Sebastian Cathedral, Negros Museum, Capitol Lagoon, Lacson St., etc. The room was very cozy and very nice. We stayed at a Luxury Suite. It has all the things we need: TV, ref, microwave, coffee maker and water heater/perculator. Bathroom was decent with beeded toiletries and towels. Breakfast is also buffet style with great choices: salad, cereals, rice, 5 entrees, bread, soup, coffee and juice. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They helped us with the directions in going around. They contacted taxis for us to go to Ruins and shuttle going to the airport. They assisted us with our things and corteous whenever we asked for anything. We spent so much time at the hotel because of the heavy rains when we visited. Good thing the hotel is a nice place to stay in.
Accomodation”
It was great because the front desk did her best to accomodate us for early check in since we did not sleep yet :) I called her a day before asking if we can have a early check in but she said they were full and she can't guarantee. On the day we arrived in Bacolod, I called her again and she said that no one has check out yet but maybe at 8am there will be available room and I was not disapponted. The place is at the center of Robinson's and SM. Just ride a jeepney with a destination of Bata when going to Robinson's and you can walk going to SM. Manokan Country is at the back of the hotel. :)
A pleasant little hotel”
The Suites at Calle Nueva, is a small friendly hotel, for someone staying in Bacolod it's an ideal hotel, good staff room clean, plenty to eat at breakfast time it's ideally located close to SM and other eateries in the area, on the same street there are a few drinking bars too.
Exceptional”
We really enjoyed our stay at The Suites. The staffs are nice and very accommodating. The location is very accessible (you can walk from the hotel to SM Bacolod, Manokan, park and San Sebastian Cathedral). We like the buffet breakfast and the cleanliness of the room and cr. Strong wifi connection is also a plus.
Good Value Inn”
Located within downtown Bacolod and a few mins walking distance from the church, town plaza, SM, and manokan country. Rooms are clean, small but clean bathroom, size is good enough for 2 people. Overall, the room & facility quality along with the breakfast is great value for the price I paid.
Great option for your Bacolod trip”
Location is perfect. It's near the center of the city. You can walk going to practically every key destination. Need something from the supermarket? Go to SM. Want to eat authentic chicken inasal? Manokan Country is only a 5-minute walk from Calle Nueva. Want to hear mass on a Sunday? The church is almost like a neighbor. Service is excellent. You don't need to remind them about making up your room. And oh, speaking of room, I got a spacious room with a queen size bed and a single bed for less than P1,000 per night. And it came with breakfast! That was great value for my money. Not sure if it was upgraded. Breakfast is fine. Don't expect too much. But trust me, it will fuel your morning. They serve brewed coffee, too.
Good place to rest either for couples or family”
We stayed overnight here while we stop over while in Bacolod. It is situated in a quiet area compared to other hotels so it is quiet. They gave us the farthest room at 2nd floor. Roim was big with a 2 seater couch. Every amenities in the bathroom works well. Big plus is a working BIDET with good water pressure. We ordered late lunch & even uf food arrived at least 30 minutes after, the Grilled Rosemary Chicken in Lemon & Tomato Sauce was delicious. Cost of their food
short but relaxing stay”
My stay was just short as I have to leave Bacolod before dawn the next day but nevertheless I still enjoyed it. The staff are very welcoming and they made sure they attended to my initial requests of shuttle service going to Silay airport as well as my food. If I am to return to Bacolod, I’d definitely would consider booking to this hotel again. :)
A great value for money hotel ”
The Suites At Calle Nueva are a good family run hotel, the room is cleaned daily, there is a different selection of foods at breakfast time every morning, the hotel is located close to SM the shopping mall, walking distance.
