Worst stay in two week holiday ”
We were first shown a room that had such a terrible smell and was full of mould. Then was shown a second room. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Door knobs coming off. The bath not secured safely. Towels old and crunchy. Mosquito nets with holes. Breakfast was terrible, buffet style yet ants on many of the dishes. So not worth the $80 I spent. It needs a major upgrade.

Breakfast was not acceptable and it wasn't ready on the time they advised. Room need major maintenance.

The sunset”
The sunset hotel is location at the very end of the beach, distances are small so this is no disadvantage. Staff is oke but when I asked for 5 beer I only got 2! Breakfast is slow as the cook to order because there were not enough guests to open a buffet. The pool was not clean and overall it needs maintanance. Mirissa is not nice and very quiet in the evening at least when not high season. When you go whale watching be prepared for people getting sick on the boat, it was not nice all these sick people.

Avoid!! everything dissappointing”
A run down hotel which no one takes care of. worn, filthy, pool broken, bad food. the staff unfriendly and seems tired to be there at all. everywhere else in sri lanka everyone has been helpful but this is the exception. when wanting to talk to manager i get somenone else without power to decide and we get no help. we end up moving to another hotel.

Great location, not well maintained”
location, view, excellent bathroom and shower
The service in this hotel did not match that of the other places we visited. The place is rather neglected in general. The rooms were not made up and the air conditioner did not work well. The location is excellent, right on the beach but quiet.

There are much better hotels with better facilities for cheaper prices elsewhere, having said that, this is reasonable for a hotel on the Marissa beach when compared to the other "hotels" in the area

Ok but dirty pool”
Location is good, right on the beach. Room (family)was spacious, sea view
Staff was very helpful. But pool was dirty and water was not clear. Didn't want to go there at all.

Assaulted by owner, worst hotel ever, stay away!!!”
The food was decent
This is the worst hotel ever!! The manager locked my husband in our room and assaulted him! We ended up filing a complaint at the police station. When we checked in we were given a room that was rundown & dirty but it was OK since its only for 2 nights. After about 10 mins a staff member came & told us we had to vacate the room immediately b/c Agoda bookings were only given rms on ground floor w/o a good view. We tried to call Agoda to cancel our booking but had trouble reaching them. I finally did reach them and they said they would call me back. In the meantime, my husband spoke to the owner and he agreed to give us another room on the 2nd floor w/a view for a slight discount $5-$8 per night off their normal rate. Our new room was cleaner and a bit nicer but the air conditioner leaked on the floor, toilet didn't flush well & tv didn't work. We asked for tv to be checked but they refused to even look at it. They said it's like that sometimes. The staff was generally pleasant and food was pretty good. The pool is filthy and darkish green color. I never saw anyone using it. When we tried to check out on our last morning the owner said we owed more money b/c the room price was not what we agreed to but refused to show us our bill. He immediately started shouting at us "you must pay this!! Don't make trouble!" over and over. We explained that we were paying the price he had agreed to, and in fact had already paid that amount before breakfast but he refused to listen or discuss it. He was totally irate and kept saying he was ISI and the Taliban. We tried to leave but he and staff blocked our way and he got about an inch from my face and threatened me then pushed my husband into our room, locked the door and grabbed and pushed him around. I screamed for help but the staff didn't lift a finger to help us. We had to pay to get out of there. We went directly to police and he was called to the station.
