Super place to stay!”
We found out about The Surin Phuket online. It was listed among the best places to stay in Phuket accordingly to a travel site. We've picked The Surin Phuket among couple of other hotels, because of facilities that it offers (gym, private beach). We never regretted our choice! When arriving to the hotel we got lots of compliments - from sweets in the room to a free Thai Oil massage in the hotel's SPA. It was great experience! Stuff of the hotel is SUPER caring and friendly. We received lots of attention from the arrival to departure! Room was cleaned twice a day (general cleaning in the morning and another check-up in the afternoon, where stuff is leaving flowers on the bed and some cookies for the evening :) ). Hotel has a great gym, that has all the needed equipment for a regular workout. Pool area is great and enjoyable! Another things that we liked a lot - is a private beach. We were visiting many beaches around the area, but the Surin Phuket's is best - so clean, not many people and of course lots of white sand to enjoy beautiful sunsets on! Hotel offers great activities. We especially enjoyed Friday evening cocktail hour with complementary drinks & snacks from the hotel. The special thing about this hour is that guests could meet not only each other, but also people who work at the hotel and enjoy a drink together! Great time to meet local people! Hotel has no standard rooms, but cabins, that are situated separately from each other and standing right among trees and palms, which gives you a feeling of staying on exotic island. Thank you The Surin Phuket for great 11 days of a honeymoon stay! It was great time at unforgettable place!
Home away from home”
You know how when you look at photos of hotels on the internet it's never the same. It's usually range between far ftom photos or slighty close but never better in real life. Well that's not the case with Surin Phuket. We were blown away by the fact that the hotel especially the room is so MUCH better than what we saw in photos. Our room was actually really comfy that we decided to spend our 1st day inside of it and was actually planning to never leave the hotel haha. Overall it was one of the best hotel experience we had. Will definitely come back!
Very well worth the price”
I only stayed at the surin for one night and i recomend to come check in early and see the sunset is a must it s Very beautiful The only con about the hotel is that the pool close at 7pm and i had nothing much to do than to have a drink by the beach and go to sleep early(well if u want u can go to surin beach or patong but surin was quite empty when i went there the next day and patong was too far) Oh and if u r staying at hillside cottage, so many stairs 😂😂 u should know that before u decide to stay.... no elevator or buggy to go to my room(but as u go up the stairs u can see the beauuuuutifulllll view of the beach and i quite liked it later) Anyway overall experience was just perfect and i am definately visiting the surin phuket again
Its located on a wonderful beach. One of the best in Phuket, in my opinion. After 3 nights, we changed to a little cheaper, but still 5* hotel(rennaissance) Boy did we regret it. It was nothing like The Surin. We liked it so much here, that we canceled our booking there and came back to the Surin the same day. Hotel is surrounded by luscious green tropical forest, located on white sand beach, water is the loveliest shade. There is enough sun lounges even on the busiest peak time (few days before Christmas) as the whole beech is for the hotel. Breakfast is ok, plenty of fresh juice and fruit. Amazing ocean view from breakfast restaurant. Lovely beech restaurant (although pricey) on a green lawn on a beech. Cosy bungallows, free international calls (UK, US, France etc). Lots of steps to the beach but dont be put off by that if you have no walking disabilities. Very calm location, no annoying long tale boat noise. All in all, its truly lovely!
Excellent hotel at best beach!”
You can't find a similar hotel on Phuket. Bungalow style and this beachfront location is unique! This is NOT one of the package style big family resorts. True, it comes into age, but it's very well maintained, has a lot of charme, and the location can't be topped. Nicest beach in Phuket with lots of palmtrees and fine sand. In rainy season not suitable for swimming because of waves and currents (red flag), as almost all beaches on Phuket. Breakfast buffet is a real treat with almost all you can dream of! Bungalows are on the smaller side in this category, but very charming with lots of care for the detail. Try to get a superior room (seaview and closer to beach) if you can afford it. The beach is secluded and shared between 2 hotels only, which makes it very quiet. Walk 10-15 minutes over the hill to Surin beach for restaurants, or hire a motorbike just 10 minutes away from hotel, only 200 baht per day.
Seriously, if you can afford it, do it”
I've been to many hotels in my life, and this is by far one of the best beach hotels you can possibly stay it. It is really unique. Yes, it can be a bit expensive but you sure won't regret it once you are at the hotel. I often come during the rainy season (this was my third visit), as rain or shine, its a wonderful place to be. The GM, Claude, has made subtle changes for the better over the past two years and you can feel that the staff at the hotel love working there under him. I've stayed in three different types of rooms at the hotel, but I'd never go book anything other than beach cottages again. They are superb and it's wonderful being beside the ocean. The waves lull me to sleep and its perfect for access for an early morning or evening walk. The Surin Phuket think of everything. All you need is your swim suit, something fresh and nice to wear for dinner and a big fat smile. Go!
Highly Recommended - Planning my return trip”
We stayed at The Surin for 3 nights and it was the most amazing, relaxing, beautiful and hassle free holiday i have ever had. The staff treated us like VIP guests from the moment we arrived. The rooms are spacious, well designed and private with fabulous views of the spectacular beach. The well equipped gym even has views of the beach. The beach is simply gorgeous! its clean and not accessible to the public. Wifi access is EVERYWHERE in the resort, even the beach! Every meal we had at the resort was 5 star! I cannot recommend this resort highly enough and we are already planning our return trip. Living in Singapore we visit Phuket frequently and we have stayed in some amazing places; but The Surin wins hands down as the best resort on the island.
Excellent hotel! ”
The Surin Phuket is an excellent hotel. Located on a beautiful private beach . The cottages are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff is friendly, professional and very helpful. The main beach area is within walking distances and has several excellent restaurants however the hotel also has a couple of restaurants that are also excellent. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection and the food was wonderful. The fitness center has a good selection of equipment and a great view of the beach area. This hotel is an excellent value!
Nice hotel, perfect location, but a bit old”
The Surin Phuket hotel is perfectly located in Surin beach, with direct beach access. The hotel has recently gone through some renovations, but surprisingly the design and construction still feel "old". Certain aspects are great (e.g., direct beach access, gym, each room is independent/quiet), but others are disappointing, such as the small swimming pool or some of the uncomfortable outdoor furniture. If Surin Phuket really went through a major renovation (as we were told by the hotel), the result is a bit disappointing. However, food was absolutely top notch: from the buffet breakfast, to the Thai restaurant to the Italian restaurant: all of it was absolutely outstanding. Staff is generally very friendly, unfortunately reception staff was clueless when asked about suggestions for restaurants outside of the hotel. It's a pity, as they seem to be willing to help, but lack basic training. We kept bumping into a trainee left alone at reception, and each time we asked a question she had to disappear in the back to ask for some help from a more senior colleague.
We only stayed for one night and came around 7pm. Surin is considerate enough to allow us a late check out so that we can spend the whole day enjoying the food, beach and magnificent view. We have visited Patong beach, Bantao beach and Surin beach and Surin is definitely the best of all. In fact, Amanpuri used our beach and facilities. We will certainly come back and staying longer. You will not regret choosing Surin Phuket!
Location, location, location”
Overall lovely hotel, wonderful staff and service, very beautiful place - location is everything: perfect quiet beach and the image of an idyllic tropical escape. Also no complaints about the room - large, firm comfortable bed and a great night's sleep. A huge bonus was the unlimited free bottled water - never come across this before. However, we must mention the stairs. We are relatively young and fit (and have gym membership) but did get tired of climbing 200+ steps to the top of the hill at least twice daily (to room 228). This did not detract from our wonderful relaxing holiday but it would really be worth spending more and upgrading one category of room from a hill side cottage in order to be closer to beach and reception. Don't worry about Tsunamis. Only rooms up to same level as the pool were affected. We opted for a high room to be safe but it was completely unnecessary. On the plus side think of it as a built-in stairmaster! We certainly came home fitter. Also the drive is quite steep so make sure you wear grippy shoes (and take the torch provided in the room) if you go out. But don't let these points put you off the Chedi. This is a lovely beach hotel with loads of character and soul. ie: not a corporate business 5 star - if you want this maybe you'd be better off at the Laguna complex.? ( We have a lot of experience of both types and chose this hotel for its individuality). Most other guests were European and people tended to keep themselves to themselves creating a very quiet relaxed atmosphere. We ate lunch most days at the little independent beach restaurant (on your left as you face the sea) - yes, it really does serve food although how they do it none of us could work out! Allow at least an hour for your order for great Thai food and relax with a spectacular view and cheap beer! The hotel restaurants are good and not madly priced although Thai dishes are limited. We prefer a more Thai experience and went to Surin beach each night. Walk to the end
Chedi Hotel Phuket”
We came with our 20 month old son from Patong beach for our final 3 days in Phuket. The Chedi was a breath of fresh air and a luxurious experience. The hotel is built into the hillside with the design of the main building all open and facing the beach. Several levels house the foyer and waiting areas, the restaurants and the bar over looking the pool (and ocean). The villas are all connected by garden lined paths and stairs that wind through the hill. Our villa was Superior (not Hillside) and was very private with views over the sea. The Chedi is the perfect place to unwind and relax with all the luxurious service you need. We swam in the sea and the pool, taking walks to the main Surin Beach for some casual Thai food and went to dinner at the Oriental Spoon nearby. The breakfast buffet is of a high standard and the 2 for 1 cocktails at the bar watching the sunset is a must. The best Cosmopolitan I have ever had. The staff were genuine and very pleasant, especially to our son.
Fabulous Private Beach”
fantastic stay! can't wait for the hotel to be refurbished next year and be back again! have stayed in various 5 stars hotel in phuket, but surin phuket, we gonna be back for sure. while others complain about the steps, we felt it was so down to earth and back to basics.. we love the steps, it was all good exercise! btw, would be nice to change the tv and have more interesting channels.
Perfect location , great rooms, friendly staff”
stay at the surin for the weekend, we came there tired and left feeling new and rested. We love the balcony with the view and sound of the sea , the room is comfortable and wireless system in the cottage is great ! Spa is is relaxing , garden bath is fantastic. all staff were warm, nice and friendly . they are helpful too ! from all my visit to hotels , I like the breakfast at the Surin a lot. The surin made me feel like being at home in paradise , it gave me the boost energy that was needed. I'm we will be back for more stays at the Surin
By far, the Surin Phuket resort was one of the best resorts we have visited. We loved the attentive, impeccably detailed service, from housekeeping, to the Thai spa massages to the Beach restaurant meals. Breakfast menu was also one of the best we've had. A definite recommendation!
The Chedi was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed, it truly is a gorgeous destination. We were upgraded to a bungalow third row back from the beach on arrival, which was very much appreciated. We'd booked the hillside cottages, and they are set quite back and I wouldn't have fancied staying in those however. Many people have mentioned that the resort is a little tired looking, which it is, but we didn't mind at all. The beach alone is worth the trip, it is perfect - the water is crystal clear and they have a great floating platform offshore which you can swim out to for sun-baking or just enjoying the different perspective of the resort. It sits along side the famed "Amanpuri" resort and shares the same beach, it apparently *is* a public beach, but felt very private and not busy at all. The rooms were well equipped, free wifi through the whole resort, DVDs available to borrow and great lounge chairs outside on your balcony to watch the sun setting. There seems to be a trend with hotels to use ceramic pots to refill shower gel, shampoo etc which i really dislike, they seem unclean and you have no idea of the quality of the products. (which I have to say I didn't think was great) - they do supply you with gorgeous lemongrass soap though which we loved. Definitely take the free shuttle-bus to Patong (9pm leave, 12:30am return) - to experience the madness of Patong, it's a big heaving mess but worth looking at. We ate at the hotel restaurants on several occasions, which was all lovely, but the buffet breakfast was incredible, everything conceivable and delicious (I'm not a buffet fan at all - but this was great). Location is near Surin Beach, which as mentioned the local Taxi mafia will charge you 500-600 baht to take you anywhere - it was a real downer on the trip and we would rent a car/bike next time (as dangerous as Thai driving is) - but gets expensive to go anywhere.
Very good ”
Overall a good experience. Just the independent sellers of food and drinks on the beach are tricky. They have tired to charge me for burger of the hotel at double price on the menu!! The hotel claims that they are not part of the hotel staff but somehow they let them buy and resell food from the hotel to the guests adding extra crazy markup? It was really weird.. I had an early departure in the morning and the staff was supposed to provide a breakfast to consume on the go but this did not happen.. For the rest the experience at the Surin was still quite good.
I appreciate the honesty of the hotel to announce up front that the swimming pool was under repair and to offer very interesting compensation with room upgrade and free dinner. We took the dinner at the beach restaurant where we could select from the normal menu and it was delicious. For my birthday the chef baked an amazing cake for me respecting my diet needs, this was a real surprise. The cottages are super comfortable and the top of comfort is the traditional fan and windows that we can open (a/c makes me sick). Nothing is missing including the breeze and the noise of the waves. The beach is almost private as shared only with private villas at its end. The scenery is beautiful and from the sea we hardly can see the bungalows. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a wide variety for westerners and fresh omelets. The staff is full of attention, just right, never too much or too little. The only detail that may need attention is that the shower water was not constant. Otherwise, just perfect. A few minutes by foot, there are shops and a few minutes down, the Surin beach back to its original state with only 1 or 2 restaurants at its end. Would love to go again.
perfect spot with beautiful beach”
we stayed 9 days in december, weather was not the best these days, nevertheless everyone was happy, as the setup of the hotel with a perfect beach, beautiful pool and friendly staff made us forget bad weather .good brakfast on nice terrace.. nice thing, wifi all over the place.. on the beach locals are allowed to do massages on a much better rate as in the spa in the hotel, ofcourse not same quality, also they sell fresh food and drinks for cheap prices. if you like to avoid full beaches with no space, the chedi, which is now renamed to " the surin" , is a perfect place
Excellent Experience ”
We originally booked for four nights, at the end of our stay we checked out to move on to a 5 star hotel in Karon Beach. When we checked in we realised we had been spoilt by our experience at The Surin. We called The Surin to see if we could come back. Of course this was no problem. When we arrived back they made us feel very welcome. We were so glad to spend more time at this resort. Great attentive service, and genuine interest in their customers. Well done guys!
