A beautiful guest house with lots of charm”
Once you stepped inside the gate at Baan Tepa it was easy to forget you were in the middle of Bangkok. Theo and the staff were super friendly and helpful. From Baan Tepa we were able to move around on the bus network to places like Chatuchat Market and Kaosan Road
The owner is very sweet and helpful. He really tries to interact with his boarders and the rooms are impeccable. The breakfast is also delicious and adds to the atmosphere of the hostel. Will come back again...
A cozy hostel with friendly boss”
we stayed in this hostel for the last night of our trip in thailand. it is indeed very lovely memory for us. the place is clean and home-like, with seperate room, bathroom and shared facilities (refrigerator, free bottle water, internet pc, etc). there are some interesting antiques collection in the hallway, like old radios, lamps, pictures etc, very interesting and cozy. the hostel locates in a quiet street and not quite near the bts station, but the hostel owner has prepared map guidance so we can always find a taxi or tuk-tuk to take us in and out.
Heritage place near Thewit Boat pier. Hospitality!”
we enjoyed this place next door to the bangkok hi hostel we stayed in ten years ago! old wooden house with cozy rooms with nets and wi fi. owner is very helpful and provides personal care. vegetarian breakfasts are made to order.far enoughfrom streets to be very quiet but a short walk to teak mansion and walkable to cheap rubs abd eats in banglamphu.
Lovely guest house in Bangkok”
I really enjoyed my stay at Baan Tepa, booking was easy, the owner was responsive and flexible. I had a great room with bathroom on the ground floor of the lovely old wooden house which is full of character. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and it was a lovely place to stay. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again when next in Bangkok.
Nice little oasis”
Oldish wooden house in an alley - not far from Thewet boat landing so that you can get to the sights along the river. Market with many stalls close by. Fairly simple but functioning facilties. I like it!
All around recommendable ”
Baan Tepa is a cute pension with 8 rooms. Has air conditioning and mosquito netting. Also tv and radio (at least in our room). Very friendly manager. During the day easy to travel to center of city by River boat. In the evening best to take a taxi or GrabCar (like Uber) to get home. Tea, coffee, and refrigerated water are included (although the coffee, like most in Bangkok, is instant and not great tasting). Cute house. All around, would recommend.
pleasant, relaxed, safe”
I have been there several times and I just adore the place, for its looks, friendly staff and personal touch. It's pretty good location-wise as well. The place smells lovely in the rooms , being all old wood and I can't get enough of the decor! It only lacks a nearer MRT/BTS station but it's a 50BHT ride by taxi and 20mns walk to the station or 10mns to the river pier, so if you're not in a rush, there are many nice things to see on the way too(Wat Ben)or some street market. Access to kahosan Rd is pretty fast as well. The staff is lovely and the owner very cool and speaks perfect English. Once again, the place delivered and I will be going back for sure!
relaxing, an oasis of taste and quiet surroundings”
Once again, this hotel delivered the perfect relaxing haven I was looking for and my stay was wonderful, I particularly loved the room I got on the ground floor with a second room leading to the bathroom and a tiny little balcony/garden. The hotel smells really nice and looks fantastic so it never fails to make me happy to stay there and the owner (one of them) speaks great English and will help you with all queries, or simply a good chat!it's really nice to see the taste and effort put into all details of this hotel and you really feel you are somewhere special. Love it!
relaxing, interesting and beautiful hotel”
I have been there once before and fell in love with the place, which is an old 1930's thai house renovated. Every little detail of the hotel is there to maximise your comfort and experience, from the decor to the soft towels and friendliness of the staff/owners. The rooms are very clean and smell wonderful, each room has character and little quaint lay-out details from the outside private bathroom to the small balconies or attached(en suite)spare room. That stay saw me in a large double room with a balcony leading to the bathroom.A wonderful experience, near to Khaosan Rd (about 60 BHT by tuk tuk), and near enough to Phaya Thai BTS station, so you can go shopping. The lack of immediate access to BTS is the worse thing about the place but it's really not THAT far and all kind of public transpot id available on the main road.I will definitely stay there again!
Cozy place with a Wonderful Host!”
My sister and I did a spur of the moment overnight trip through Bangkok and found this place to spend the night. We booked it because it was cheap and close to downtown. But the best part was the very friendly and accommodating host. He prepared us an excellent Thai breakfast in the morning ad was otherwise very helpful throughout the stay. Would highly recommend staying here.
different, relaxing, an attraction in itself”
I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it is so pretty and relaxing! The owner was very helpful and friendly, the rooms so cool with their old style deco but modern comfort. I loved every minute of it and cannot wait to got back. There's a really nice temple nearby. And the breakie was ok too! Fantastic stay for anyone wanting a different kind of hotel. Only one bad thing, the old house has wooden walls and you can hear everything so get those earplugs packed up!
My wife and I had just spent a dreamy 8 days in the Khao Sok National Park with minimal amenities. We were looking forward to a "hotel" room to help ease us back into reality. I was a little anxious (on behalf of my wife!) when I read that I had booked us into a "hostel" based on other hostels I am familiar with. But Baan Tepa was perfect for us. The room was perfect (we never turned on the the TV), comfortable, quiet and the A/C worked well (we had none in the jungle). We had a private bath that was separate from the room, but after having to visit the latrine in the jungle, the bathroom was perfect (sink/mirror, toilet, shower - what more do you need?). The staff was warm, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We are vegetarians and were looking for May Kaidee's, which the staff knew right away was only 1 km away (an easy walk). The breakfasts were perfect as well: juice, fruit, coffee (from instant), eggs and fried rice. don't let the drive down the alley put you off. This is a great place with a great price. I would not hesitate to stay there again to have a more "Thai" experience rather than a sterile hotel environment. The location was only a ride from, e.g., Wat Pho (depending on the time of day - more during rush hour). The outdoor and indoor sitting areas were comfortable and conducive to interchange with fellow travelors. We met old and young alike staying at Baan Tepa. We were very happy there and very sad to leave.
Nice thai house ”
Good breakfast, nice staff and clean rooms. Right beside the international youth hostel. Make sure you have a map with the location of thje gueat house marked on it... Taxis never find it!! Guardiola: filosofo
very nice and very Thai”
this was the first place, where we stayed during our holiday. the hotel a family business, theo was very nice - speaks very good english - extremely helpful for organizing our first dinner, next day's getting to the railway station. the room was very clean, with working air-con and clean towels for our use. a bit unfortunate, that the bathroom is not in the room, but there are only 3-4 steps to take to get there (every room has its own separate bathroom). breakfast was very good, all in all i loved this place and was keen to see/know thailand better also because of it
Oasis of peace and goodwill in busy Bangkok”
baan tepa is in a quiet, clean and peaceful corner of bangkok. it is wonderful to have a garden and a lovely wooden house and be able to walk on wooden floors and enjoy the tranquility of a garden in a quiet area of town
Quiet, Friendly and Peaceful Stay”
Room was small, but comfortable and nice. Quiet and off any busy roads. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious as was the outdoor patio to eat and chat on. Theo is extremely kind and helpful in showing you where to go, how to get there, suggest activities and help in any way. Location is further from the "happening" tourist spots, but this is the allure. You can easily catch a taxi to/from the guesthouse to anywhere else in town. We used tuk-tuk, taxi, water taxi, and BTS to get around without hassle.
so cute hotel”
I stayed for 2 days. The hotel room isn't spacious but very lovely and comfortable. WIFI is available for free, but not so strong. I had a curry fried rice with chicken and fruits, juice, and coffee for breakfast. Every staff are very kind and friendly.
Great hotel but visited in the wrong season”
every detail is thought about: safety deposit box, umbrella's, insect spray, etc. we stayed in the garden bungalow and if you don't mind sleeping under a fan they are great. close to the beach, friendly staff. only downside was that we stayed in august and even though we didn't mind the occational rain shower, the sea was much to rough to swim in, which is why we left earlier than planned. also the beach has a lot of rubbish, which the staff tries to clean every day but is an endless battle...
homy place off the beaten track”
stayed for one night and chose this place as i was looking for - not big hotel chain - close to transport: airport link as well was express boats on the river - quiet location - safe for children - tourist places within easy reach so Baan Tepa is a beautiful wooden house, has lots of charm, a garden (with moskitos), a nice living room like common area. the room we stayed in was really, really small, only good enough for sleeping, but not staying there at daytime. on the other hand, there was no booking for it the next day so we could check out late and have an afternoon nap before the strenous night flight. this was highly appreciated. good comfortable bed (not hard) and working air con. actually this being a wooden house one can even leave the window open at night and have a fresh breeze. the owner is helpful, speaks good english and makes delicious breakfast.
