Beautiful resort on a hidden beach”
After driving for about 1 kilometre on a gravel road you reach this tropical paradise hidden from any mainstream tourism. Free kayaks and small boats for use to explore this beautiful bay of Bang Bao. We loved our stay. Swimming is great despite a few rocks in the water. It is a long beach which stretches far towards other resorts where you can go to for a swim if you don't like the water in front of the actual resort. We got an upgrade to the beachfront bungalow (I don't actually know why they upgraded us) and were literally 5 meters from the ocean. We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Super! A real fantastic hideaway!”
Here you have everything you need, sun, sea, etc. We had a nice beach front bungalow. Nearby is a fantastic restaurant, so is the Bang Bao Pier. From there you can book nice snorkling or diving trips. When you like hiking (like I do) you can just walk from your bungalow up into the jungle, The staff of this "resort"is very kind. Some nice events are organised now and then, but for the rest this area is very quite, which I loved!

Very calm place”
First day we were dissapointed after coming from paradise in Ko Kut but already second day we started liking it. It is very close to Bang Bao village but drivers don't want to go there so you have 2 options. Either you walk along the beach to the main road (10 min walk) or you pay significantly more. We used both and it was ok. Restaurant has higher prices but food is very nice. There is many other options on the beach. We even walked to Bang Bao village with small kids and it was also ok. There is big low tide but you can adjust your plans staying at the beach in the morning and do st in the afternoon (December was wit low tide in the afternoon/evening). After all our 4 nights stay was too short! There is so much to do in the island. Staff could take a bit more care about the garden but generally they were very nice and helpful. We visited our beaches but they are too busy. We preferred this one - away from crowds and very nice bungalows. We can recommend!:-)

If you like solitude stay here ”
We have stayed here before it seems rather neglected in areas mostly gardens since you amalgamated with the hotel next door. It's also very dark at night time no lights pitch black when trying to find your bungalow lack of sunloungers on the front and the beach used to be a lot cleaner. We love your location but since joining other hotel it appears you are neglecting this one if your going to have two then you should at least have more staff

On the beach and ok if you have a bike.”
We stayed for 7 nights, it was a nice on the beach spot with its own private beach. It was hard to find but you need to keep walking down the beach it is the last hotel. The bar is a 10 minute walk from from the reception area up the beach. The food there is great. We hired a bike from a local shop and once we did that it was fine as we were able to access the other areas such as long beach and kae bea. Otherwise you’ll have to get taxis. The beach is beautiful and there are lots of sun beds hammocks and swings. I would not recommend the transfer service provided to Bangkok. We were over priced and not dropped at the hotel despite paying extra to them. The staff were helpful and able to answer any questions we had. The WiFi is not very strong at times and it gets lost once you’re on the beach.

Not an inspiring place ”
The resort has 2 major flaws: - location - on the remote part of Klong Koi beach (not served by taxis, no other restaurant in the immediate proximity, the resort's one was closed with no info provided to us in advance) - beach (full of sea urchins and rocks, impossible to swim, sand was not nice) So, we were basically caught in a place that didn't have much to offer and actually moved out after 3 days instead of paid 7.

Perfect peace”
The Tropical Beach Resort is essentially beyond the end of the tarmac at the SW end of Koh Chang so if you are into partying or night time action of any kind this is not the place for you. One ridiculous sunset after another and the best Daiquiris on the island in our humble opinion. Great welcome from Mar (manager) at 9.30 in the evening - he had kept the chef back in case we wanted something to eat, which we were very grateful for having been travelling for 15 hours. This sort of service was consistent throughout our 7 day stay - all the staff were solicitous and helpful and generally smiley. There was a young couple staying with their 4 month old baby - one of the staff generally took the baby off for some R and R to allow this couple to have their breakfast in relative peace every morning. Probably the best service we have experienced in Thailand so far. Lovely beach with sun loungers and deck chairs and plenty of shade and a small beach bar + the free us of 2 kayaks if you are feeling energetic. It is a little rocky once you get in the water and there are some sea urchins towards the southern end of the beach so watch your feet ! Complementary taxi service to the local centre of population (Bang Bao) every morning and very easy moto rental. They provided food pretty much throughout the whole day with a good choice at breakfast. We thought the food (particularly the fish) was pretty good although served lukewarm sometimes (notably on barbq nights) which we think was a plating up issue rather than a cooking problem. The bungalows were just as they appear on the website - a clever design this polished concrete because it makes it very easy to keep everything very clean. Could have done with a couple more shelves but bed with mosquito net was comfy and there was free water and new towels every day. The shower was a bit wimpy but to be expected given the water supply issues on the island. Nice soap and shower gel provided and an extra nice touch for the rainy sea

Pure tranquility”
It's always hard to tell just which reviews are true, the ones that tell you what you really want to know. There are plenty of positives about Tropical Beach. If you are stickler for perfection, you will find plenty that is not perfect. But the positives far outweigh the negatives. The silence. The stillness. The staff. Yes, it is at the end of the road, remote, but not isolated. Yes the beach is not perfect, but there is plenty of sandy bottom very nearby. The water is shallow and low tide is not for swimming. But if you like swimming, this area is perfect. Young family? Perfect. want peace and quiet? Perfect. Want variety for eating? Walk down the beach. Want a motorbike? They have one. Want reliable, consistent internet. Not perfect. My one true beef. Don't expect wifi in the room, but somehow the hotels next door and beyond manage to perform in the public areas. Overall a very positive experience for my first time in Koh Chang. Never wanted the crowded beach bar and party scene. Really lucked out.

Rustic Luxury”
We had a wonderful 4 day's/nights at Tropical Beach in a beach front bungalow. The bungalow was designed beautifully, round (as in the pictures) which gave a very relaxed feel, offset from the others (not in a row), which gave a degree of privacy and individuality, and presented beautifully inside with a huge bed (complete with topper and lovely fluffy pillows - both a rarity in Thailand). I particularly like the way the bungalows have been designed around mature trees, rather than cutting them down the trees form features on the verandas and through the roofs. I've read review here about not being able to swim because of the rocks - there are rocks immediately out from the beach but you only need walk 20m to the swimming area, it's really not an issue. The food was very good both main meals and breakfasts (very wide selection) and there are many restaurants within easy walking distance down the beach for variety. The staff were all helpful and friendly and will arrange trips for you, for snorkelling the boat will pick you up at the beach. It is a long (and interesting) journey to the far south of the island to get to Tropical Beach but we felt it was worth it. We had out own vehicle but the resort offers a shuttle service and there are regular taxis from the end of Bang Bao beach too so you're never stuck. If it's a beautiful, peaceful location you are looking for Tropical Beach will not disappoint, we loved it.

Tropical Beach Resort, Koh Chang - hidden gem”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay as I wanted to be away from crowds and to have a different Koh Chang experience. The bungalows are large (round) with modern but few furnishings. Bed was comfortable and the air con was very efficient. The restaurant is large but has no fans. The food is very good but menu is limited. There is another two restaurants a short walk down the beach. The included breakfast was very good but, again, a little limited. The staff was very attentive and bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. The rooms have free wireless internet. Although there is no shopping within walking distance, staff will drive you to Bang Boa which is a very interesting fishing village built on a pier going out into the water. There are many shops, and seafood restaurants there. You can also go on a full-day snorkelling trip for with Perm Poon Sub Boat Trip. It is fabulous! This can also be arranged at the resort and you will be picked up there in a small boat. This is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for something a little different.

End of the beach.... perfect for relaxation”
Now, here's the truth... Tropical Beach Resort was closed so they put us up at the 'nicer' resort next door... Chivapura Resort. So, this review is actually for Chivapura Resort and its staff. Nice place. Large rooms. Nice furniture. Nice staff. This isn't a place many people stay just one night. It's a place they arrive to stay a night or two then end up staying a week or more. It's just another world compared to Koh Chang's east side and wind and waves.

Fantastic recreation just at the beach”
Tropical Beach Resort Koh Chang offers an amazing location and accommodation in very cosy bungalows just at the beach. Excellent evening meals are served from the small restaurant in the sand a few meters from the incoming waves. The personelle is very kind and everything is clean and beautifully arranged.

Private Off the Beaten Path Beachfront Bungalows”
Tropical Beach Resort is literally at the end of the road which makes access to other areas/towns a small challenge but by no means impossible. A very quiet private area but only a short walk up the beach to a few very quaint simple bars/restaurants. If you are looking for access to dozens+ bars and restaurants, tattoo shops, gift shops, etc... then this is not the place for you. If a quiet empty beach with decent swimming beach and tranquil setting this is the place for you. (actually the beach directly in front of the bungalows is beautiful but a bit too rocky on the bottom for swimming but a 100 meter walk up the beach puts you onto a nice sandy swimming beach) Worth noting the resort is not located where it is indicated on google maps (which places the resort basically right on the road). Instead it is located quite a bit off the paved road by car - but it is only a 10 minute walk up the beach on foot to where the beach ends ends at the road. And this is how you get picked up by airport shuttles or scuba dive shop shuttles - the will tell you to meet them "at the bridge by Klong Kloi beach". The staff can arrange taxi pick up or motobike directly from the reception area. But standard airport shuttles and dive trip/adventure tour companies will have their shuttle pick you up "at the bridge" Great spot and so tranquil compared to the chaos of Lonely Beach or Sandy Beach.

Wonderful bungalows at the end of the island.”
The Tropical Beach Resort is located at the far southern end of Koh Chang. If you have a rental vehicle, preferrably with 4WD, this place is ideal. It's located about 3 km past Bang Bao Village, but the walk to town is up and down hills. The last stretch of road is pretty rough, but can be handled with a regular vehicle. The bungalows are modern, with floors and walls of polished concrete. The high conical roofs make for a beautiful interior design. Loved the design. Our bungalow had no view to speak of, but we were unwilling to double the rent for the ocean view. The staff was extremely accommodating and cooked up fresh seafood that one of the guests bought in town. Love this place. Free kayaks available.

Romantic getaway with smiles all around”
from the get go we were treated like royalty and we had a wonderful bungalow, there is so much space in the bungalows and everything is newly build. the bathroom was the best we have experienced in all the places we visited in thailand. kayaking is for free as well as enjoying yourself. this is a must see island and resort, i don't think koh chang gets enough recognition like koh samet, it is a hidden jewel.

Tropical resort ”
Tropical beach resort is at the very far end of koh Chang, but don't hold that against it. The bungalows are spacious but sparse, and all are a minutes walk to the beach, while the front ones have a sea view. The beach slopes out very gently which is excellent if you have small children and want to paddle or snorkel. Alternatively you can use one of the free kayaks and be in shallow water which is perfect for beginners. You will need to hire a bike or a car if you don't want to be dependent on taxi services, but most seasoned travellers will be aware of this. I would certainly go back or recommend here if you are looking to get away from night life and hustle and bustle of over commercialised beaches

Quiet, comfortable bungalows... a wonderful stay”
We were here 2 years ago, and the improvements made from 2015 to 2017 are substantial. On the whole, the staff was wonderful -- especially the very cordial and professional manager Mar, whose English is terrific and who went above and beyond for us our entire 7-night stay. We did have some minor ongoing issues with housekeeping, but Mar stepped in to fix things and make our stay better. There was also a terrific young worker (named Kung, I believe) who was especially helpful throughout our stay, a kind older gentleman (didn't catch his name) who provided help to my fiance who had a run-in with a sea urchin, and a helpful woman working the front desk. Overall, the level of service has gone up since our last trip. The restaurant has vastly improved its menu, hours, and overall quality. Kudos to the amazing chef! Our last stay, we only ate here occasionally beyond breakfast. This time, we ate lunch or dinner here almost every day -- the curries and seafood BBQ are fantastic, and the yellow curry soft shell crab is one of the best dishes we've ever had in Thailand. Speaking of breakfast, it's totally worth the add-on: it's a nice little buffet of Thai and Western options, with fresh fruit and veg to start the day, plus a made-to-order omelet station. Be prepared for a gecko to hang out in your bathroom -- the roofing in the bathrooms is a bit rustic. The bungalow rooms are sealed tight, though, and we're okay with geckos. The only real negative is that it's at the rocky end of the beach -- if you swim in front of the resort, your toes will pay the price. Walk further down the beach to get to the sandy area, and a pair of goggles won't hurt underwater. Don't come here if you want a party beach. We were extremely happy with the quiet location.

nice bungalow in quiet area of koh chang”
the resort nearly at the south end of koh chang is the perfact place to keep distance from stressful daily business life. close to the beach, the bungalows are well equipt what you need for a few days relaxing. hotel staff was friendly and good english speaking. for those who need night life activity and shopping it will be the wrong place. without own car it is a little bit difficult because location is far from next village - but hotel staff can order taxi.
