to be recomended 200%”
I stayed at the urban age hostel for a couple of nights and it was great. Location is perfect (bus stop, sky train and near to loads of veggie food stalls),it's cheap for being BKK, the staff is always willing to help and try to make you feel at home. The wifi works fine and the bathrooms are clean. I have to admitt that during the might it is abot noisy because it is a soi street of silom road, but i mean, it's the concrete jungle we're talking about. Just put some earbuds in and it will be fine, or go for a good walk and you'll be so tired you will sleep like a baby! I will deffo come back if i'm at bkk again :D
Great place for a budget traveller”
The location is great, near to everything in Silom & a short walking distance to MRT & Skytrain. Whoever commented the place was dirty & horibble, that was probably before the renovation. I was sceptical at first when I booked for the place but chose to risk it because of the great price & location. But when I arrived, I was greeted by a sweet & friendly receptionist and the pleasant albeit small lobby. The room was clean & nice. Certainly more than good enough for me to sleep & take a rest for a while before I venture out the whole day to see the wonderful things in Bangkok. That's the whole point of visiting here right? Of course the hostel could do better, but for the price, I have no complain.
Best Value for Money”
The Urban Age Hostel is located in the heart of the city, very accessible and is a short walk to Patpong. There are so many dining and shopping options within the area. Pai, the receptionists, is very warm and friendly. She showed me my room and helped me stored my luggage so I do not have to carry them inside the room. There was free coffee and tea available at the reception area. The rooms and bathrooms are well maintained. The dorm rooms are at the higher floors and there is no lift but this is manageable as long as you have limited luggage. The fast internet is next to none. I find this hostel an excellent value for money.
stayed in the 2-person dorm and the room was good. the staff are very friendly and helpful, and gave good advice on travelling around bangkok. hot water/ coffee is provided at the first floor. wifi speed was good too! toilet was ok, it is one of the few hostels i've stayed in thailand that has hooks in the toilet to hang clothes. and the location is really great! close to the nightlife, patpong night market, sala daeng bts and silom mrt. would definitely stay here again for my next visit!
Good for one night”
We basically just used the hostel as a place to sleep. The location is great since Silom is a fun street and the BTS is so close. It's not extremely clean, but its ok. My biggest gripe would be the limited bathrooms. Staying in a dorm and having to share one toilet and one shower with about 10 people is rough. There are other hostels I would stay in for longer stays, but for one night Urban Age was good.
Centrally located and budget friendly”
Close to the BTS, lots of shopping, local markets, lots of local food and close to Patpong Night Market. Great service - the reception is very friendly and speaks English well. The hostel is in need of renovation but it's adequate for the price and location. We changed our booking from a couple days to 6 because of the location and price.
If only they kept it clean, it would be perfect”
We stayed for 1 night at the Siam Classic Double Private Room for two on the 2nd Floor (facing the street) in October 2015. The biggest disappointment was the dirty bathroom and shower. Also, it was too homely like a student dorm - things were messy near the staircase on ground floor. Our room had clean sheets, but the whole room looked really old and felt like it was never renovated. The room did not resemble the picture on Agoda at all. It was the same room, but the room felt 10 years older than in the picture. Things were run down and the curtains were quite old. In short - this is not a well kept place. However, we also paid only 573 THB (low season discounted price) and we couldn't find any other double private room in Silom under this price. You will not find a cheaper private double room than here in Silom. So, if budget is an issue, go for this place and just ignore the messy and unkept bathroom. You are paying close to nothing for staying in a great location. Also, we met some of the friendliest and best English speaking staff at this hostel during our stay in Thailand.
This hostel has good location, close to saladaeng bts and silom MRT. Night time along this area have selt many foods. Hostel's staff very friendly.
Great Location, close to Patpong”
After reading some negative reviews about this hotel from tripadvisor, I had mixed doubts that my stay here would be unpleasant, but surprisingly I had a good stay. The hostel was not hard to find, contrary to some people that said that they had problems locating the place and rats infest the area. It was quite near to patpong, as it was 5 minutes away by foot as it was convenient for me to go to patpong night market. I had the 2 mixed dorm for safety, had an Indonesian roommate, the only problem I had was my roommate was laughing so hard at night as he was watching a movie. I was able to mingle with some backpackers at their lounge area, contrary to reports that you cannot mingle with other backpackers. I would stay in this hostel again.
good location great hospitality”
i think its about time Urban Age spend some money to refurbish and redecor the hostel.
This is a hostel..”
I was lost my way to find this hostel at the first because I forgot to screenshot the map before I arrive in Bangkok.. But the location basically preety good, near to MRT and BTS station, the night markets and few shopping complex.. The room bit crumpy for 6 people, the bed is ok but the bathrooms and toilet should be clean up often.. The bathroom floor bit dirty and obviously not smell good.. But I am really thankful to the staff Pai which so lovely helping me so much during my stay.. Really recommended if you are in really tight budget..
Basic facilities yet great location and value for money”
This hostel is situated near BTS Sala Daeng station and surrounded by many stores to choose from. The staff are nice and friendly. It is currently undergoing renovation (construction is usually done late in the morning). The room that I've stayed in the 3rd floor has just been renovated. Facilities are basic (good bed, shared CR, Wifi). I hope that they provide drinking water to their guests.
Good location and friend staff”
This hostel is very close to Silom complex shopping and Saladaeng bts. And this hostel's staff is very friendly, i think this is the best and cheapest price which I have seen in Agoda. I will come stay again.
Very accommodating and freindly staff. Great price for the area, in the heart of Silom, close to restaurants, BTS and MRT.
ok for backpacker”
It's really cheap and the hostel located in the heart of Silom. Staffs are friendly and there are some helpful information in public place. However I think that it suit for somebody who only need somewhere to sleep. To summarize, it's a great location to rest then go around Bangkok with public transit.
Definitely a budget stay”
Well, I was in a hurry when I booked and didn't carefully read the reviews, so I have only myself to blame for that. The name Urban Age is kind of ironic considering the condition of everything. I stayed in a private room and, through the magic of camera angles and lack of detail, the room was not as nice as pictured. I have been living and traveling in SE Asia on a budget for years and I think my standards are pretty low, honestly. But everything was just plain dirty. The shared bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days, and clearly wasn't during the 2 days I stayed there. My bedsheet was threadbare, torn, and stained--as were the walls. The pillow was hard and lumpy and left me with a neckache. Contrary to other reviews, I found the staff nice, at least. But I really can't recommend staying here. There are so many better options in Bangkok, even on the smallest budget.
Good value for money”
The staff was good and speaks english well. The problem with this hotel is that it has no elevator. Difficult to transport bags to higher floors and small stairs. Generally, room is clean and comfortable. Nice location at Silom, near Patpong Night Market and Hua Lumphong area. Near BTS Skytrain. Very accessible to all. Good value for money. Communal baths only for guests. Free coffee, chcolate and wifi at the lobby. Free wifi in all rooms.
This hostel has good location, easy take train, just 5 minute walk from Saladaeng bts. Very close to Patpong night market and there have a lot of foods street. Friend staff... I will come stay this hostel next trip!
Awesome Location with friendly service”
Its a quiet and basic hostel with friendly service. I arrived just before midnight and was afraid that I would miss the cut off time to check in. However, they said, "Are you ?" and I was relieved. That alone made my stay high satisfying. The rooms are basic with a strong a.c. unit and decent beds. Theres no frill about this place. No nice artwork, trendy seating areas or modern decor. Its as basic as you can get but overall clean. The best part is the location! Nothing can beat being in the heart of Silom just footsteps away from the doorstep. If you're looking for comfort check out other places. If you're looking for a crash pad that comes with a complimentary towel then I recommend this place!
the hostel is situated just one block away from Silom Road, where you can visit the street markets, find cheap food and also bars, pubs in the Red Light District. The staff are nice and the rooms are normal, and so are the bathrooms. The only bad thing is that there is no elevator, and sometimes your room may be on the 5th or 6th floor. Other than that everything was okay. It is not the main sightseeing spots such as the temples or Kao San Road, but you can get there in no time by tuk-tuk, taxi, boat, subway or skytrain
