Toilet Looks new because it is all Black :) Aircon was a bit old and weak. Stuffy if the windows are not opened. Toilet bowl was yellowish in colour. Need to wash up! Front desk was very good in service though, Good Job!! Soap/shampoo was not topped up on first day. Floor mat/Towel was not given on next five days. Strange. also complimentary peanuts and soft drink in fridge for first day only, wonder why. I was there for a 5 days stay.

Great Location
I chose this hotel because of its location in city center (Causeway). Minutes walk from Shopping malls, restaurants and everything.

Good Location, Nice Staff, Clean Room
There are certain things i like and i don't like about The Vela hotel but all in all, its worth the money. I Like: - Staff are nice, though not as nice as the previous hotels i had been at, not always smiling but i guess when you are tired, i'd be the same as well - The room is clean, and not too small. I was with my mate whose tall and though the bed is a bit hard, still is way better that other hotels ive read reviews on. - The location is near a wet market and some restaurants. It also has some bars around and a lot of 24/7 mini grocery stalls. It is also right next to the RaceCourse Track which is cool if you are into running. It is not too noisy at night as well, unless there's a next door buggers that are drunk. - It is also a few minutes walking distance to the MTR, it depends on which exit you go to. Its a bit tough but fun to walk around hustling on the streets finding the MTR. I find it nearer if you go to Time Square B1 exit. - They also provide a phone that you can use for calling and internet (though you can't use it as a hotspot) - The wifi in the building is okay. I am an IT person so i should know. It wasn't too slow and wasn't too fast. Speed is ok just to get by the usual social media stuff. - The toilet i am impressed. Though they don't have a bidet, it is well lit and clean enough with the shower separate from the cubicle. I Dont Like: - They only give one key card per room which i find annoying. You need it to activate the power in the room. So when i need to go out and my mate is inside the room, i'd have to always ask someone to open the door for me. This is the first time ive been in a hotel which only provides one key card - The cleaning process was also a bit odd, though they would fix the bed, it doesn't seem like they would replace stuff or throw away trash from the room. Good thing i prefer having my room clean, coz if not, it will be tough. I think they need to get the cleaners proper training on how to do it. Made Up room means the

Family holidays
Was on family holidays and this room was much spacious and overseeing the city than family room (cramped for two queen size beds; 2 adults and two young kids age 3 and 5 years old). However, noted not much maintenance as a couple of ceiling lights were not working, and the room has a pillar with an attached wardrobe which was in my opinion poorly design as needed to skirt around the pillar cum wardrobe to get to the bathroom if sleeping on the bed neared to the windows. There was a mini fridge placed on the floor; needed to bend down to retrieve drinks. Plus point is about 10 mins walk to Times Square and friendly courteous hotel staff.

Family Room with 2 Double Beds

Family Room not conducive for family with kids
Booked a family room with two queen size beds in a 15 sqm room. Hardly any space to move around in the room; just a small passage to get into the room once you enter into the room and then onto beds. The en suite bathroom was smaller than a single room with queen size bed which was booked for another two adults. It looks like another queen size bed is added into the room to call it "Family room." The air conditioner's louvre was faulty and affected air conditioner efficiency. The plus point is the hotel is located about 10 mins walk to Times Square and the hotel staff are polite and courteous.

best choice for budget travelers
I booked a r/m with 3beds. though toilet was too tiny to shower, considering its price, it was affordable. location wasn't bad, lots of restaurants nd shops are within 5mins walking dist. this wouldn't bad choice if u are looking for standard quality accommodaion with reasonable price.
