Quiet getaway at a beachfront property & a short walk to Jawili Falls”

Jawili is an excellent beach destination, off-the-beaten tourist path, away from the crowds, yet so close to Boracay and Kalibo. The Wave Beach Resort is right in front of Jawili Beach itself and just an 8min walk to Jawili Falls. I stayed in a bamboo style cottage with a fan and a private bath. Though I only stayed here for 1 night, it was perfect for a bit of a beachfront rustic getaway with some peace and quiet. With no restaurants around, the staff can cook for you. I had breakfast and dinner here, at the little cottage enjoying the sounds of the waves. The owner even told his staff to give me fresh buko / coconut juice, which they just cut & picked from the tree… so refreshing. Overall, I had a great experience here.

      A pleasant place to relax”

Close to the beach, waterfall and hospitality

We booked the room here for 2 nights but stayed 5 instead. It is about 17km away from the airport however it is a perfect place for anyone who wants to relax in a quiet and peaceful beach. The hotel cooks meals everyday with reasonale price. The staff are useful and friendly. They upgraded us to AC room while we only booked a fan cottage. Thank you.

      Misrepresentation...”

      The Beach

The FACTS: - The Wave Beach Resort IS NOT LOCATED IN THE CITY PROPER of Kalibo! It's in the town of TANGALAN which is exactly 24.7km from the City of Kalibo. Best way to get there from the airport is through Southwest (metered) Taxi (about a good hour's ride) - cost is +/- P400 from Kalibo to the resort, additional P100 for pick up; Option is by tricycle/pedicab but would run you anywhere from P300-P500 - The PICTURES posted here were probably taken when the place WAS brand new! NOW - the cottages and the structures + the surroundings looks shabby and run down. - There is NO WIFI OR TV though the ac in our rooms were in good running condition. The water pressure was low so the old water heater does not work. - Management can be described as a "mom & pop" operation - what you need you have to ask for, what you will get are clean old linen - no toiletries. Bed is extra firm. Hot (drinking) water and glassware by request everything else depends on their supply from their small sari-sari store out front. - Meals: NO MENU OFFERED.. but they have a decent cook that will market & prepare home cooked style food per your request OR as we did, we bought food from the market and had them cook it for a fee. They gave free papaya slices & coconuts per request.

Cheap and good enough place to enjoy the tranquility of Jawili Beach & Falls”

Good: This place is fine enough to enjoy a very local but beautiful beach area of Aklan province, compared to the touristy and overcrowded Boracay. Here, you can feel a more local vibe, and the beach is almost just as beautiful. It's also within walking distance to Jawili Falls, to enjoy a fresh water swim in the morning. Cons: If you're not used to Philippine standards of using a 'tabo' (bucket and pail of water) to shower or take a bath, or you need modern and first-world amenities, Jawili might not be for you. In that case, I'd recommend the cottage which has aircon and a useable shower. But if you wanna travel like locals, this place is absolutely no problem.

Basic accommodation located right at the beach”

Resorts here are not geared for foreigners only local people. No restaurant as local people usually visit on weekends and cook their own food on provided barbecues. I prepaid for a standard room with fan. My room was built of bamboo, timber sheeting ceiling and partially tiled bathroom. You will not find a picture of it on Agoda. Misleading advertising. My room comprised of sponge mattress bed, two bamboo chairs, coffee table, tidy bin and pedestal fan. Nowhere to hang anything, chairs and table are your shelving. Long metal rod in the bathroom to hand towel and wet clothes. Water bucket to flush toilet. Cold water shower worked okay. No mirror anywhere. If I were to stay again I would pay extra for an aircon room in the concrete building. I did not bother with their wifi as I found traveling that my internet package was more reliable. The nearest place for food is about 1km down the road at the Cabs Hantian complex which has tables overlooking fish ponds though limited food options.

Beach is not good, not bad. Sea water is quite clear but not as clear as boracay. Many rocks are under the sea, they don't hurt you, but it can bother you, it feels not so good. I will go boracay next time, because of rocks.

      The Beach.

After our initial shock we learned to appreciate the place, it was quiet and we LOVED the beach line. Cool Breeze, powdery white sand on top but black sand beneath it.. almost isolated and pristine The owner & the "staff" (which was his family) were pleasant and accommodating. The place definitely has potentials if managed properly and if maintained well. Price is cheap but the resort beside it was cheaper and better maintained - they also had actual wifi and tvs but the bathrooms were very small. Jawili Falls is just 500 meters away, so if you want a NO FRILLS quiet weekend on the beach with a side trip to see the falls AND YOU ARE NOT PICKY about the place you stay OR the food you eat.. This place will work for you -- You can also visit Hurum-Hurum cold springs which is about 30mins away.

      Beach only

Its not at all a Resort... Just a Home stay we can say. Staff not aware about Agoda. I try to contact them regarding how to reach there from Kalibo but no reply from them. So I ended up in paying 700 Peso for private Tricycle to reach there which was more than the room rent. Rooms are old and smelling bad. But in 500 peso you can only get this much. Beach is very quiet place for morning walk.

The Buildings are very old and never supported. Room not clean, bathroom very dirty. Staff is very friendly and also helpfully. The place is not made for foreigners, or with another words, just low budget backpackers! If you stay there bring your own food or rent a car because there is nothing around. If you looking for a beach without other people, then is ok.

The worst 'resort' we've ever stayed in!!!”

      Cheap food and a cook

This was the worst 'resort' we have ever stayed in in the Philippines. The owner was extremely rude and offensive and spoke to me very badly. We requested airport transfer twice and they never bothered to pick us up and left us standing in the rain at the airport. Then after ringing them, they tried to charge us 1000 pesos to pick us up. We got a tricycle for 500 pesos as it was too late to stay anywhere else and too late to cancel. No apology was given for anything! The room was a run-down, dilapidated dump and was dirty and full of insects, such as mosquito's, ants, cockroaches, beetles, to name but a few. The bed was so hard it felt as if you were sleeping on the floor. The bathroom had a rusty tap, a broken toilet & was filthy. The owner sang videoke till gone midnight and so we couldn't sleep until he'd finished. The 'resort' is many miles from anywhere also & is very isolated & very inconvenient for getting to the airport. The only positive thing about this 'resort' was the cheap food. We would neverumpmp stay here again.
