best hotel ever stayed in Shanghai”
I stayed for only one night, but has already decided that Yangtze boutique hotel to be my go-to hotel in Shanghai in the future. The room is very clean and spacious with a luxurious touch. Hotel staff is very helpful and attentive. The hotel is centrally located, close to all amenities, including No.1 subway station, numerous local restaurants and large shopping malls. It was a great stay and I highly recommend this hotel. The only drawback though, is that I found the bed a bit too soft for me. This is just a personal opinion as I'm not quite use to very soft bed.

Elegant Structured, Very Friendly Staff.”
The Yangtze boutique Shanghai gave me a pleasant and memorable stay. This is a must-stay hotel for those that would love to explore Shanghai, because the hotel is centered in the city life and the staffs are professional and they speak good English. The architecture of the hotel, is simply elegant. The hotel's management trainee is explicitly professional. Loved my stay.

Excellent Boutique Hotel”
The Yangtze Boutique was an amazing experience. From the fresh rose scent which permeated the hotel to its excellent location to its amazing rooms (with a balcony even), everything about the Yangtze Boutique was excellent. It was a lush and enjoyable experience and I would recommend it strongly for everyone who wants to visit Shanghai as a choice destination.

From the minute you arrive, the Langham feels like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. You enter your room and a video plays showing pictures of Old Shanghai with a lovely Chinese jazz singer in the background - immediately you are transported to 1930's Shanghai. This video is even better when viewed, soaking the enormous bath tub. Great location near the People's Square, Shanghai Musuem - you are no more than 20 minutes or so from anywhere including the Bund (which you can walk to from the hotel). Service is great and you must try Tang Court for the great value business lunch. There is not much to dislike about this classy, personal hotel. Its definitely my place to stay in Shanghai and loved every minute of it.

Best Hotel Ever”
This was a perfectly located hotel, close to the historic center of Shanghai. It is one hop away from the Metro, walking distance from People's square and the Shanghai Museum, as well as Nanjing Pedestrian Street. It is but a short distance by cab from the Bund, the French Concession, and the Old Town. I love that it has roots in Shanghai's heydays in the 30s and fully appreciate all the information shared about the hotel and that era. It was absolutely clean and comfortable, had all the amenities I expect from a high-end hotel. For us, personally, it also tied in well with our purpose for coming to Shanghai--that nostalgic flavor that is so appropriate to a return trip to a city where we once lived 25 years ago.

Perfect Location”
The hotel is easy to get to from the airport - the #2 Metro stop is right across fr0m it which is a great plus in Shanghai's traffic - no need to take a taxi. Yangtze Boutique Hotel is located right by the People's Square with its wonderful park, two blocks from the main shopping street, 20 minutes walk to the Bund and the river cruises and 30 minutes walk to the Old City. The hotel maintained its beautiful original 30s style while updating the room amenities which includes a TV over the bath tub!The staff was extremely helpful. Overall a very good experience - and at a good price.

Review of Langham Yangtze Hotel, Shanghai”
I stayed at and enjoyed the Yangtze Hotel many times prior to its acquisition by Langham and renovation a couple of years ago; it was nice before, but it is a far more enjoyable experience now. Because it is a small hotel, the atmosphere is more personal and the architectural experience more intimate than a mega-hotel. The nostalgic 1930s-Shanghai art deco decor was, to my eye, very tasteful and appealing. Along with refurbishing of the hotel came a serious rise in price, but by US standards, it's still reasonable (about $200/night with breakfast); however, given the budget I expect to allocate for lodging in the PRC I did regard our stay as a financial indulgence. Service was very good.

Great location and customer service”
Within a 1-minute walk to one of the key subway stations (People's Square) where you can conveniently ride to anywhere within Shanghai. Building facade has a nostalgia feel, which showed the rich history of this metropolitan city. Hotel room (we stayed on level 7) was upgraded, new and clean. Lots of shopping malls and eateries at the Pedestrian Street which is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Accessible to the famous Shanghai bund via a 15mins stroll, which is good for digestion after a heavy meal at the Pedestrian Street. Highly recommended.

Glamour hotel with very attentive staff”
we really enjoyed our stay at langham yangtze shanhai. the rooms were large and well appointed with a contemporary art deco style (a little over the top, but i love the art deco period). the staff were very attentive and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. the location to the people square subway was about 50 meters from the hotel entrance which was very handy. taxis could be a little difficult to get, but we never waited more the 5-10 mins. all in all, i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a refined and elegant experience.

Lovely rooms, helpful staff, breakfast is ok”
Our stay in the Langham in Shanghai was very enjoyable. The location is great for exploring and it is easy to walk to the Bund or take the subway from Peoples Square(Exit 14) all around the city. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The actual room was perfect, it was extremely comfortable and clean. The only slight negative was the breakfast was not as good as I was expecting, it was still delicious and again the staff were great -I was only a little disappointed because of how good everything else was. Highly recommended.

Great hotel in a good location”
We stayed at the Yangtze Boutique hotel for 6 days recently and we had no complaints at all. Staff were friendly and efficient and responded to our requests in a timely manner. We never ate at the hotel so cannot comment on the food & beverage part of the hotel, but from we saw and smelt it looked good. Room was great. Only problem was we could not manage to turn the heating down. Bathroom was amazing. It has a tv but that didn't work. No problem as we didn't really need it. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and if we decide to go back to Shanghai we will book it again.

The hotel is fantastic from the location, staff service to it's breakfast. The hotel is located opposite the road from Gate 14 of the People Square MRT station. There are many shopping areas nearby such as the Nanjing west walking street and the Bund Shanghai which is 15-20mins walk from the hotel. Breakfast a lot of variety and the hotel gave us free upgrade.

Luxurious, stylish boutique style”
We highly recommend the Yangtze. It’s on a smaller more intimate scale with Artdeco artifacts. Rooms were spotless. Huge bathtubs as well as a separate shower, comfortable beds. They were generous with leaving you bottled water everyday, and you also were left chocolates. Staff were personable and helpful. The hotel was intimate, peaceful and beautiful in a handy part of town. Close to shopping mall, a strip of local eateries and only a 15-20 minute walk to Bund.

Beautiful boutique style hotel w/ friendly service”
Location: We found staying close to the People's Square for a weekend trip to check out the sites of Shanghai to be convenient. The hotel is pretty much right there on one of the boundaries of the Square, and about 25 metres from the entrance of the metro exit. Room: We found it to be very spacious. Our opinion. And the overall condition was good. Didn't have any gripes about any part of the room. Welcoming fruit platter was a nice touch. Hotel: This is not one of those huge hotels, but the lobby is still setup beautifully. Floors are well maintained. Service: Very pleased with the service. This comment is not meant to set the English standards of the city low, but 3 out of 4 staff are very well spoken in English, and make you feel very welcome easily having chats with you.

Wonderful Art Deco in the centre of Shanghai”
This hotel was originally opened as Yangtze Hotel in 1934 in Shanghai's heyday and is believed to have been quite an institute back then. However, it was neglected for a long time after the glory light went out and the Langham chain bought and restored it back to its formal glory to open it as Langham Yangtze in 2008. There is a book in each room that portrays the history of this beautiful art deco hotel. I absolutely loved this historical aspect of this hotel and couldn't help but think what it must have been like back then. Though art deco, the rooms are of high modern standard - e.g. comfortable bed, huge bathroom, clean room etc.
